Abstract

The manufacturing industry continues to grow with intense competition, so companies need to improve efficiency and reduce waste in the production process. Lean Manufacturing with Kaizen approach is one of the effective methods to optimize workflow and reduce waste. PT TM faces problems in the production process, especially in the post 2 packing component cylinder head, where there are cycle time fluctuations that have an impact on production efficiency. To overcome these problems, the Lean Manufacturing method with Kaizen approach is applied to reduce waste and improve production efficiency. This study aims to analyze the effect of Kaizen implementation in reducing cycle time and identifying waste that occurs in the production process. The methods used include direct observation in the production line, data collection and analysis, and implementation of Kaizen-based improvements. The results showed that the implementation of Kaizen succeeded in reducing cycle time from 97 seconds to 80 seconds, with a takt time of 105 seconds. In addition, two types of waste were found, namely waiting for 25 seconds and motion for 6 seconds, which have been minimized through changes in layout and work procedures. The conclusion of this study is that the Kaizen method is effective in improving production time efficiency and reducing waste.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), known in Indonesia as Gangguan Otot Tulang-Rangka Akibat Kerja (GOTRAK) are one of the most common ergonomic problems in the workplace, caused by poor posture, repetitive movements, and long working hours. These conditions have a negative impact on employee health and productivity and increase healthcare costs for companies. This study aims to analyze the potential for GOTRAK complaints among workers in the box packaging process in the food seasoning industry, in accordance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 9011:2021. This study was conducted using a quantitative approach with a Musculoskeletal Disorder Questionnaire to assess MSD complaints. Data were collected through field observation, questionnaire completion, and work posture analysis using the methods outlined in SNI 9011:2021. The research variables included work posture, work duration, and physical strain of the workers. The results of the worker interviews regarding body part complaints showed a high risk level with risk scores of 19 and 20. The most common parts of the body to experience pain were the shoulders, upper back, lower back, and hips. The results of the ergonomic assessment of the upper body in carton packing work gave a score of 38, indicating hazardous conditions that require immediate improvement. In addition, the results of the analysis were used to develop ergonomic-based improvement recommendations to increase safety and comfort in the workplace. It is hoped that this study will provide companies with guidance on how to reduce ergonomic risks in the workplace, improve workers' wellbeing and support the development of a more sustainable industry.

Abstract

Equipment failure significantly impacts machine performance, leading to decreased productivity, increased repair costs, and reduced production output. PT XYZ, a company engaged in cement production, has been experiencing frequent downtime on the Raw Mill Plant 10 machine, resulting in abnormal production volumes and reduced efficiency. These issues contribute to the engine efficiency index remaining below the industry standard. To address these challenges, a comprehensive performance evaluation and improvement strategy is necessary. This study implements Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) by integrating the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metric and applying the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology to identify and reduce inefficiencies. Additionally, a fishbone diagram is utilized to determine the root causes of the problem. The findings reveal that the OEE value for the Raw Mill machine is 80.78%, falling short of the 85% benchmark. Among the six big losses affecting equipment performance, speed losses account for 79.81%, making it the most dominant contributor to inefficiency. These results suggest the need for targeted improvements focused on minimizing speed-related disruptions, optimizing machine availability, and enhancing overall equipment performance to meet production targets and cost efficiency goals.

Abstract

Manufacturing companies often face challenges in maintaining machine performance to avoid operational losses. PT. XYZ is a company engaged in the flat glass production sector. The company experienced problems from water heater engine damage caused by several factors; the main problem found was the frequent occurrence of extended failures due to maintenance errors that increased the risk of damage to the engine and stopped production. Therefore, the use of the intensity function is a concept that can predict engine failure by involving historical analysis of the damage using Weibull and exponential distributions to predict the time of failure. Thus, this analysis results in two maintenance policies that are compared, namely Periodic Replacement Policy (Policy 4) and Repair Count Policy (Policy 5). The results of the study show that Policy 4, with an optimal time to replace the engine every 923 hours or 39 days, results in lower maintenance costs (Rp 11,447,000) compared to Policy 5 (Rp 15,500,000) and an estimate where engine damage will begin to occur every T=200, and it is recommended to repair and replace the Main Unit every T=800. In conclusion, updating the preventive maintenance schedule with the implementation of Policy 4 can minimize maintenance costs and the risk of machine damage, thereby increasing the company's operational efficiency.

Abstract

Dairy Nails is one of the MSMEs that provides quality artificial nail products in Bandung with various designs. In a survey conducted of Dairy Nails customers, there was a decrease in buying interest caused by customer dissatisfaction. One of the reasons for this is the false nail packaging that does not meet customer expectations. Packaging is an important factor in a product because it protects the product inside. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the packaging design of artificial nails that can increase consumer buying interest. Proposed improvements will be made using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method, which makes consumer needs a reference in product design. Thus, the proposed packaging design can meet consumer desires and expectations. The results of this study are designing false nail packaging according to customer wants and needs with specifications, namely polycarbonate plastic material, with a clamshell packaging shape, using a hinged lid method cover, with a font size of 12 pt; the font types used are Arapey and Moontime, and the proposed beige packaging has a logo and has dimensions of 8.5 x 8.5 cm. Thus, the packaging contributes to better showing the product, is informative, and can be reused by consumers.

Abstract

The work environment in a company is a working condition to provide a comfortable working atmosphere and situation for employees in achieving the goals desired by a company. PT XYZ is a manufacturing company that focuses on the production of socks. Based on interviews with workers in the production area, workers complained about problems related to the physical work environment. Therefore, researchers conducted sampling on the lighting factor and noise factor, and there were several work areas that did not meet the predetermined standards and criteria. So, this research aims to design a Physical Work Environment Maintenance SOP that has been adjusted to ISO 14001:2015 Clause 9.1.1 concerning Environmental Management Systems and Permenaker No. 5 of 2018. This SOP design uses the Business Process Management (BPM) method. This research produces a Physical Work Environment Maintenance SOP, which includes physical work environment maintenance procedures and supporting documents consisting of physical work environment maintenance plan forms, checklist forms, list budgeting forms, findings and corrective action forms, and final reports. The results of the SOP design in this design are expected to assist in providing structured and detailed guidance covering the identification of nonconformities, the repair process, and the evaluation of corrective actions.

Abstract

Public health problems in Indonesia that have a high prevalence are stunting. The high number of stunting cases should be an opportunity to increase sales for PT. SGT as a manufacturer of anthropometry kit products. However, PT. SGT's market share is still not optimal. Therefore, a strategy is needed to increase sales in the next period. The purpose of this study is to analyze the selection of the best strategy for PT. SGT by using a questionnaire that will be distributed to 3 respondents. The data is used to conduct a SWOT analysis and IE matrix to determine the best business strategy, and then other methods such as AHP-TOPSIS are used as support in determining its business strategy. Based on the internal and external matrix (IE) analysis that has been carried out, the anthropometry kit product is located in quadrant I, namely Grow and Build. Several classifications of strategies offered are forward, backward, or horizontal integration, market penetration, market development, and product development. Through analysis using the AHP-TOPSIS method, the best strategy that can be carried out by the company is a market penetration strategy with the indicator of gradually increasing production capacity by collaborating with partners.
