Abstract

The objective of the study is to explore on how Sundanese local wisdoms are implemented in civic studies in reinforcing students’ characters in SMP Negeri 3 Purwakarta (Junior high school). Qualitative approach is employed in this study by conducting case study as a method of data gathering. The results of the study indicate that the learning process has been implemented ordinarily through the seven-day at school program. Despite the fact that local wisdoms are not specifically embedded into the syllabus, the local wisdoms are integrated in the daily learning process. In practice, teachers are expected to be able to give insights to their students relted to the Sundanese local wisdom. The implementation is carried out in forms of: 1) Civic studies classes; 2) extracuricullar activities; 3) having meals together, and so on. Those activities are considered as a leading way to reinforce the students’ character.

Abstract

The organisation of student of university holds the big role in developing students’civic skills to preprare themselves into civilization. Based on the result of the observation and discussion, found that: students’ motivation for “ormawa” is decreasing because of they are more intended on academic area and dealt with the competition of life style which comes closer to the hedonism than to civilization. University students’ organisation is using many kinds of media for socialize. An effective media will make an easier way in receiving an information, also it can spread out the information which is related to many kinds of activities that is done by “ormawa”quickly and accurately. The role of “ormawa” towards skill development of the society of the students of university is as the place of student aspiration and as a trigger of university students’ ways of think for critically thinking, taking responsibe, and scientifically. The problems which “ormawa” lives during the activity especially in civic skills development are about internal and external problems. For instance, about finance, legalization, life style, communication and coordination, students’ motivation, the difference of students’ background, facility, and administration. The attempt to solve these problems are by doing develoving culture, designing program and an attractive material, discipline, comprehendingconflict management, providing working assessment or evaluation, and doing ormawa’s role in university as well as possible.Keyword: Students, university students organisation, civic skill

Abstract

Literacy is not limited to the ability to read, write, and arithmetic, but also the application of that ability to enhance the quality of life. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of literacy educators as agents of social change. This research is based on evaluation model with Change Model approach. The population of this study are the educators in the two institutes of basic literacy education program in Cirebon Regency. The results of this study showed that basic literacy educators have not received appropriate compensation so that their paradigm as an agent of social change has not yet been arised. Researchers recommend to reorganize the training system that has been implemented so that they get recognition from the government.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that affect the interests of students pursue higher education. Respondence of this study are 185 students from SMA Negeri 2 Tambang Kampar. Analysis of data using mean scores and multiple linear regression. The results showed that motivation, aspirations, wishes, school and family environment jointly significant effect on the interests of students pursue higher education. Variables that have the most significant influence is the motivation of students for higher education, due to high motivation will emphasize a strong interest in the students to pursue higher education. While the variables that had a significant influence is the school environment, the cause of alumni and peers do not support students to pursue higher education. Meanwhile, the school should provide constructive motivation to the students to pursue higher education and schools to provide complete information about college students.

Abstract

Information and communications technology (ICT) in recent times has become a viable strategic policy option adopted by many businesses in order to compete favourably in a competitive and dynamic ICT driven market. This strategic move by business organizations is being hindered by some challenges which has invariably reduced the benefits accruable from ICT deployment for business operations especially in the inventory management. Primary data formed the methodology of the study. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze data obtained through the administration of structured questionnaire. It was established during the field survey that challenges facing the use of ICT had impacted negatively on the performance of inventory management in the Nigerian brewery industry during the period under study. It was also revealed that the cost of software was a major challenge in the industry and conclude that the identified challenges had significant effect on customers satisfaction of the firms in the Nigerian brewery industry. It is recommended that management of firms in the Nigerian brewery industry should collaborate with software developers in Nigerian to develop a software that will be a replica of ERP but should be efficient, effective and affordable for inventory management and other operations in the industry.

Abstract

This study aims at analyzing the hazard level of earthquake in the main campus Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) as a means to improve the preparedness in anticipating disasters. The method used was literature study of which data were analyzed using Geographic Information System (GIS). The analysis of the earthquake zones, the potential frequency, and earthquake magnitude, and the distance from the main campus of UPI to the earthquake zone shows that the danger level is high. In terms of zone, the main campus of UPI is located is in the red zone based on the earthquake disaster risk index from the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) and the earthquake zoning map from the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works. The main campus of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia which is located in the northern part of Bandung, belongs to the Severe VIII zone meaning that significantly dangerous earthquake resulting in moderate to severe damage possibly occurs. The risk level calculation of the disaster based on its danger, tendency, and capacity is yet to conduct, so that it becomes the suggestion.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui cara sekolah dalam mentransmisikan nilai dasar pendidikan Ursulin dalam pembelajaran serta dampaknya terhadap kualitas lulusan sekolah tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian naturalistik dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi sedangkan teknik analisis data, yaitu: reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh peneliti adalah kurangnya kesadaran siswa atas sejarah sekolahnya tersebut dikarenakan minimnya sumber tinformasi sekolah tersebut. Pewarisan nilai Servite et Amate yang menjadi dasar pendidikan Ursulin Indonesia disisipkan melalui rencana pembelajaran dan materi pembelajaran sejarah. Pembelajaran tersebut berhasil mengaitkan materi kolonialisme dengan masuknya sekolah Katolik ke Indonesia didukung kondisi siswa yang mayoritas menganut agama Katolik.

Abstract

Pendidikan tidak dapat ditafsirkan terbatas sebagai implementasi ilmu pengetahuan saja, melainkan harus lebih luas, sehingga para peserta didik memiliki pemahaman terhadap kearifan lokal. Pendidikan multikultural berbasis kearifan lokal dapat digunakan untuk memecahkan berbagai masalah. Selain itu, tujuan pendidikan multikultural berbasis kearifan lokal adalah memberi pemahaman kepada peserta didik tentang nilai-nilai kearifan lokal. Hal tersebut diharapkan dapat menumbuhkan semangat kebangsaan, patriotisme, hingga kebudayaan peserta didik, tanpa etnosntrisme. Di tingkat lokal, pendekatan pendidikan multikultural harus dilakukan secara kontekstual. Dengan demikian peserta didik akan memiliki lebih banyak rasa hormat terhadap keberagaman dan berbagai aspek seperti agama, etnis, dan lain-lain.
