Abstract

Optimizing the Use of Land Resources for the Development of Crop Plantation. The population and food needs increase every year; on the other hand, the productive areas for agriculturedecreases. Therefore, reasearch concerning of the utilization of land resources for the development ofplantation crops was required to overcome this problem. The aim of the research was to investigatecrops plantation that was suitable for multiple cropping. This research was conducted by survey andlaboratory analysis, such as : preparation (making land units with overlay maps of slope, soil type andland use), field surveys, soil sample analysis, tabulation, interprestation of data, and matching betweenthe land characteristics and the factors of plants growth. Those matching will get the appropriateamount of plantation crop development. The results show that Arabica coffee was not suitable in thewhole area which is developed in Abang District. Cashew plant quite appropriate to be developedarea 1,888.79 hectars that represented by land unit 5 and 6 (in Pidpid village and Ababi in slopepersentage of 8 – 15 %;),7, 8 and 14 ((Abang and Kertamandala village in slope percentage 0 – 8 %),16 and 18 (Purwakerti and Biaslantang village) in slope percentage 8 – 15 %) about 1.888,79 hectarand 18, respecticvly Plant of Robusta coffee, Cocoa, Clove and Melinjo marginally suitable to bedeveloped area 2,690.44 hectars, represented by land unit 1and 4 (Datah village 15 – 40%); 10, 11and 12 (Tista village in slope percentage 15 – 40%), 19 and 20 (Labosari village 2 – 8 %) and 24(Bunutan village in slope percentage > 40%) to be area 2.690,44 hectars 1, 4, 10, 11, 12, 19, 20and 24.

Abstract

Study of Casting Fertilizers on Physical Properties Change of Soil and Yield of Sweet Corn on Inceptisol. A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of casting fertilizes on soil physical characteristics and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) on Inceptisol. The Experiment was arranged in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications and eight treatments. The treatments were consisted of : O0 = control (without casting); O1 = 2.5 ton/ha; O2 = 5 ton/ha; O3 = 7.5 ton/ha; O4 = 10 ton/ha; O5 = 12.5 ton/ha; O6 = 15 ton/ha; O7= 17.5 ton/ha. The results indicated that casting fertilizer was highly significant affected on soil conductivity and soil aggregates, but was not significant to soil porosity, and fresh corn cob weight of the yield. The casting fertilizer rate of 15 to ha- 1 gave the highest yield of 13.69 ton ha-1 or increasing of 60.12% compared to without casting fertilizer (8.55 ton ha-1). The treatment casting of 15 ton ha-1 could increase soil conductivity of 480.87% (20.97 cm/hours compared with control (3.61 cm/hours) and the soil aggregate could increase of 150.16% (3.53 ml) compared to control (1.26 ml).

Abstract

The increase of rice production by using the approach of integrated crop and resource management(ICM) besides high yielding varieties (HYV), inorganic compound fertilizer which followed the returnof insitu rice straw instead of compost or manure. However, this in situ rice straw should be treated bylocal probiotic microbes so the straw becomes decayed and fragile that facilitates the land processing. This study aimed to determine the effect of the addition of Kujang NPK fertilizer with local probioticmicrobes on rice yield of Inpari 13 variety in irrigated land. This study uses a separate plot design with5 replications. The main plot is the gift of local probiotic microbes (Agri Super and Agri Simba), and thesubplot is the addition of Kujang NPK fertilizer (200, 300, and 400 kg/ha). The results of this studyshow that there are no interaction influence occurs between the addition of Kujang NPK fertilizer withthe administering local probiotic microbes on plant height at harvest, yield components and dried grainyield. The highest dried grain yield by administering of Agri Super is 8.59 t ha-1. The addition of KujangNPK fertilizer at dose 300 kg ha-1 gave the highest grain yield as much as at dose 8.24 t ha-1, and thelowest yield achieved at doses of 200 kg ha-1 of Kujang NPK approximately 7.55 t ha-1.

Abstract

Increasing of rice production is one of a highlight program in South Korea. In order to support this, enough water supply for paddy field is one of determined main factors to maintain good plant growth and high yield. Water from the rainfall is usually not enough for paddy field, so it must be supplied from irrigation system. The water source for irrigation can be derived from surface water and or ground water which is usually located in long distance, consequently it needs irrigation facilities to deliver water until reach paddy field area. Therefore government, and, or farmer need to manage irrigation to fulfill paddy field water requirement and they have been doing it. By working hard and holding strong commitment, South Korea has been reaching rice self sufficiency average 98,9% since 1970s for 38 years period. Average rice yield was 5.20 ton per ha in 2008 and this indicates as the highest level of rice yield in the world as well. Based on this reality, it needs to be studied the role of irrigation management in increasing rice production in South Korea. It was found that irrigation management in South Korea has very important role and it has significant effect in increasing rice production. This reality was supported by increasing of safety paddy field area by year. The water potential developed and to be developed is higher than water use. Government provided K Water (Korea Water Resources Cooperation) to handle everything in relation to water problem.

Abstract

Imature Development and Parasitization Behavior of Hemiptarsenus varicornis (Girault) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) as a Larval Ectoparasitoid of Liriomyza sativae (Blanchard) (Diptera: Agromyzidae). Liriomyza is one of the important pests that attacking vegetable plants in Indonesia. Parasitoid which is commonly associated with Liriomyza is Hemiptarsenus varicornis. The study was conducted at the Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University and at the Integrated Pest Management Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, Denpasar. The research starts from February to September 2018. The purpose of this study was to determine the development and parasitization behavior of the pre-adult phase of H. variconis on L. sativae. The development of the parasitoid pre-adult phase was observed in the form of egg, larvae, pupa and imago stages. Observation of pre-adult phase parasitization behavior was carried out by tearing the leaves of plants that had been infested and observed under a binocular microscope. The result indicated that the time required for the development of pre-adult phase H.varicornis was nine days at an average temperature of 28oC, with egg stage (24 hours), larval stage (48 hours) and the pupa stage (120 hours). The parasitization behavior of the immature parasitoid H. varicornis includes three stages, namely the search for hosts, finding the host and receiving the host and directly infusing the host's body fluids, then going away from the host's destroyed body. Host search behavior occurs when new larvae appear, while the process of sucking in body fluids occurs when the instar-1 larvae before the instar-2 and away from the host occur before parasitoid larvae enter the pupa phase.
