Abstract

The quality of education can be improved by developing learning methods, curriculum development, and learning media development. One of them is learning media in the form of comics. This research aims to develop physics comics and analyze the validity of learning media of physics comics on the historical material of atomic development.  The research was conducted using the R&D research model (Research and Development) with the 4-D model (Define-Design-Develop-Disseminate). Based on the stages, obtained learning media products that were declared eligible after validation by two high school physics teachers and an expert lecturer gained the average validity in the media component of 90.0%, the display of 89.2%, the material by 90.7%, and the language by 95.4%. In general, the student's responses to the use of physical comic learning media include comic physics can increase motivation in learning (88.6%), students prefer that physics learning uses comic media (88.9%), through comic media, students are introduced to atomic inventors (88.9%), and physics comics can help to understand the historical material of atomic development (83.3%). Based on the study results, learning media of physics comics on the historical material of atomic development deserves to be used in physics. The implication of this study can help other researchers as a reference related to the development of comic physics learning media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze whether student discipline affects physics learning outcomes in physics subjects at SMAN 8 Jambi City. The population in this study were all students of class X at SMAN 8 Jambi City. The sample of this study was students of class X IPA 1, X IPA 2, X IPA 3, totalling 79 students at SMAN 8 Jambi City. The regression test results stated that there was an influence between students' disciplined attitudes towards physics learning outcomes by 65%, while the remaining 35% was influenced by variables other than the variables studied. Based on the research results above, it can be concluded that there is a positive influence between learning disciplines on physics learning outcomes. Students who have a good discipline attitude will also experience an increase in obedience and perseverance in learning so that it has a good impact on learning outcomes. Vice versa, if students do not have a good learning discipline attitude, it will make students disorganized in the learning process and cause student learning outcomes to be not good.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials of comics based on local wisdom of Sriwijaya country on wave material in class VIII SMPN 15 Palembang. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The study was only until the stage of Analysis, Design, and Development (ADD). The subject of this research was conducted at SMPN 15 Palembang by involving 11 students of class VIII. This research consists of 3 stages, namely the analysis stage, the design stage, and the development stage. The implementation and evaluation stages were not carried out due to limited research time. Data analysis of student needs was measured through observation activities. The questionnaire was used to determine the feasibility of teaching material products based on expert validation and student responses. This prototype was then validated by construct and content experts from Raden Fatah State Islamic University Palembang and PGRI Palembang University. The results showed that the teaching material product was feasible based on expert validation with the category (80% - 89%) valid and supported by student responses with the category (75.1% - 100%) very practical. Due to time constraints, the problem of productive teaching materials for the implementation and evaluation stages was not carried out. Therefore, this research can be developed or continued in further research that has been studied on the limitation of the problem. It is hoped that researchers can develop this research according to the study of the ADDIE research model until the implementation and evaluation stages are completed.

Abstract

This literature study aims to obtain the thinking process profile of senior high school students in physics problem-solving based on differences in emotional intelligence levels and gender. In this study used literature study method with phenomenological analysis, functionalism analysis, and critical analysis. The sources used to compile this article include some literature on emotional intelligence, gender effect, thinking process, problem-solving, and several empirical study on students in physics problem-solving, especially in senior high school. The authors summed up the conclusions based on the results of the literature study as follows: (1) The profile of the thinking process is influenced by emotional intelligence level and gender; (2) Emotional intelligence is directly proportional to the thinking process of students in the process of solving physics problems; (3) Students who have high emotional intelligence are more likely to have high physics problem-solving skills; (4) Gender differences (male and female) in solving physics problems, generally, are still debatable, in which sense is it better? Then it further research needs that is valid and reliable to answer this question. (5) There is a strong tendency that the male gender is more resilient in dealing with and solving complex physics problems; (6) The gender of female students is superior in solving physics problems that require very high detail. The main implication of this article is to obtain the thinking process profile of senior high school students in physics problem-solving based on terms of differences in emotional intelligence levels and gender.

Abstract

The rapid progress of science and technology is marked by easy access to education quickly. Skills that are needed today are often called 21st-century skills. 21st-century skills have become a necessity for students to continue their careers in the future. Physics is one of the lessons that are very close to nature. This research aims to show the influence of the use of physics teaching materials on the 21st-century skills of students is seen from the level of education, learning materials, and student learning outcomes. This research is a literature study of 16 articles on the description of Effect Size in educational studies. Overall, the effect size of the use of teaching materials on physics learning is 3.7. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a strong influence in the use of physics teaching materials on the 21st-century skills of students seen from the level of education, learning materials, and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze research trends related to PjBL-STEM topics in 2016-2020 through bibliometric analysis with the Scopus database. Based on the criteria, it obtained 1,169 documents. Microsoft Excel was used to analyze data and VOS viewer as a data visualization. The results showed that PjBL-STEM research is increasing every year. The USA contributes the most research in the world, Indonesia ranks second. Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Sebelas Maret, and Universitas Negeri Semarang are among the top affiliates in PjBL-STEM research in the world. Visualizing the trend of PjBL-STEM research in 2016-2020, there are three clusters, namely 1.) PjBL-STEM as a framework, 2.) PjBL-STEM as self-development, and 3.) Effects of PjBL-STEM research. The results of this study can help researchers related to PjBL-STEM research trends in the world and provide direction in further research.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of HOTS-oriented blended learning student worksheets on students' cognitive learning outcomes on work and energy materials for class X MIPA at SMAN 1 Gadingrejo in the 2020/2021 academic year. The research design used is a quasi-experimental form of nonequivalent control group design. The sample in this study was class X MIPA 5 (experimental class) and class X MIPA 4 (control class). The experimental class was treated using HOTS-oriented blended learning worksheets, while the control class was treated using the HOTS-oriented student worksheets. The test instrument used is in the form of a description of 5 questions. Based on the research results that have been done, the average N-Gain in the experimental class is 0.46 in the medium category. In the control class, the average N-Gain is 0.34 in the medium category. The results of the independent sample t-test showed that the significant value of 0.05 was 0.002. It shows an effect of using HOTS-oriented blended learning student worksheets on students' cognitive learning outcomes on work and energy materials.
