Abstract

The body’s fluid is compartmentalized into two major divisions: the intracellular fluid(ICF) and the extracellular fluid (ECF). The ECF which is also called the internalenvironment of the body is in constant motion throughout the body. The ECF contains largeamounts of sodium chloride, and bicarbonate. The ICF contains large amounts potassium andphosphate. Transported of water and nutrient through cell membrane occurs by diffusion, osmosis and sodium-potassium pumps. The homeostasis of body fluid is maintains bykidney.

Abstract

Research with the title of the inhibition test kedondong leaf extract (Lannea grandisENGL)on the growth of bacteria Erwinia carotovora, causes soft rot of Aloe vera have beenconducted in vitro on media PPGA and testing of antibacterial activity of leaf extractkedondong on aloe vera leaf pieces. This study aims to determine the bactericidal activityof leaf extract and concentration kedondong minimal constraints on the growth ofbacteria Erwinea carotovora. Bacteria E. Carotovora isolated from the Aloe Vera plant softrot disease.Sections of leaves among the sick and the healthy cut to the size of ± 3 cm andcleaned with water and then soaked with 70% alcohol for 2 minutes inserted into laminar flow. Leaves clean kedondong have weighed as much as 100 grams chopped, then addedwith 1000 ml of methanol solvent. Immersion extract was filtered with filter paper watmanNo. 2.The filtrate obtained was evaporated by vacuum rotary evaporator to separate thesolvent (methanol) and the extract, made up to concentration. Bacteria isolated on mediapropagated PPGA tilted as stock for testing bacterial pathogens isolated colony of yellowwhitecolor with the aroma of sulfur-like smell of gas.Based on research results, it can beconcluded that the leaf extract could inhibit bacterial growth kedondongE carotovora withdoses at least 4% concentration in media PPGA and pieces of aloe vera leaves, whereas atconcentrations of 1, 2 and 3% have not been able to provide inhibition.

Abstract

In recent years, groups of antimicrobial peptides, mainly produced from lactic acidbacteria in yoghurt has been used extensively in the health field as an antibacterial andfood biopreservative. This aims of this study to determine the physicochemicalcharacterization and antimicrobial properties of bacteriocin which extracted from theyoghurt. We used Saphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli bacteria for this trial. Weexamined physicochemical characters of the bacteriocin such as pH, thermal stability, andproteolytic effect. Also, we conducted the antimicrobial activties to S. aureus and E. coli. The results showed that the bacteriocin which extracted from the yoghurt could inhibit thegrowth of bacteria S.aureus, and E. coli. In order to, bacteriocin havephysicochemical properties, such as optimum active at pH 5, is stable against heating upto 121°C for 15 minutes, and sensitive to proteolytic enzymes

Abstract

Infectious diseases in broilers remain a problem caused huge economic losses in the form;performance (high mortality and mobidity, slow growth rate, bad feed conversion ratio(FCR), and low meat production), increaase medical costs, should performdecontamination (cleaning and disinfection) and revaccination. Failure on due to diseasethat occurs in broilers caused by the breeder has not completely make handling the diseaseis due to lack of management for prevention the disease. This paper proposed a strategy fordisease prevention by promoting bio-security measures, vaccination and medication-basedlaboratory.beternak ayam

Abstract

The aims of this study is determine the influence of Buah Merah (Pandanus conoideus)on histopathological changes in kidney and liver of mice caused by paracetamoladministration. This study used 30 famale mice were grouped into 5, so each group ofsix-sided tail. Body weight of mice ranged from 25 grams – 40 grams with the femalesex. Group K +, T1, T2, T3 all given 10 mg of paracetamol during seven continuous ,on the eighth day until day 29 groups T1, T2, and T3 given Buah Merah oil fell as muchas 0.3 cc, 0.6 cc and 0.9 cc respectively. Data obtained by scoring histological changesof kidney and liver organs. Results of kidney organ scoring average total for the groupof K + is 9.67, T1: 4.5, T2: 5.67 and T3: 7.17. The total scoring of liver for groups of K+ is 9.67, T1: 4.83, T2: 6, and T3: 8.33. Results Mean Kruskal-Wallis test for kidneyand liver showed that there were higler significant (P <0.05) between the positive control group (K +) with treatment group (T1, T2, and T3) it can prevent kidney andliver damage.

Abstract

The objective of this study to find out the histological of spleen of bali cattle. Thespleenwere collected from 20 bali cattle in Pesanggaran abattoir, Denpasar and thenevaluated microscopically. Histological findings were assessed by H-E stainpreparations.Microscopically, showed that the spleen of bali cattle consists of capsule, white and red pulp. The capsule composed of connective tissue and smooth muscle withthick of these layer is 24,3 ± 3,7 ?m. The white pulp subdivided into the marginal zone andthe follicle. It is composed of reticulocyte (lymphocytes and macrophages) andreticular fibers. The red pulp composed of arterioles, capillary, and vascular sinusoidswhich are large numbers of erythrocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, plasma cells andsparse lymphocytes.

Abstract

Canine distemper is a contagious disease, which can infect any dog species includingdomestic dog in Bali. This research used ten domestic dogs in Bali, which were naturallyinfected with canine distemper virus and have been positively confirmed by laboratory testusing RT-PCR method. Lung tissue changes have been identified on gross pathologicalobservation, i.e.: on average the lungs were changed in color and size. The lungs mainlychanged into pale or darker; in addition, the lungs tended to become bigger. Mean while, the septa alveoli of the lungs observed thicker and were infiltrated by inflammatory cells. This tissue changes indicated that canine distemper virus which infected domestic dog inBali caused inflammatory reaction in lung, which is known as interstitial pneumoniainterstitial. These changes implied to be related to the disturbance of the respiration tract, which was accompanied by mucus-purulent exudates
