Abstract

ABSTRACT Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp. or known as bay leaf is one of the species of the Myrtaceae have been used as a traditional medicine by various ethnicities, especially in Southeast Asia. The utilization of Syzygium polyanthum as a medicine is related to its secondary metabolite content. The article aims to know the relationship of secondary metabolites and the utilization of Syzygium polyanthum as a traditional medicine as well as scientific evidence. This paper is based on literature review both online and offline in the form of books and scientific journals. Syzygium polianthum contains a variety of secondary metabolites, especially essential oils, tannins, flavonoids, and terpenoids. As a traditional medicine ingredient, Syzygium polyanthum is used as a drug of diabetes mellitus, stomach disorder, overcoming haemorrhoids disease, diarrhea, skin diseases, freshener, hypertension and cholesterol. Scientifically Syzygium polyanthum has bioactivity as an antimicrobial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, and anti cholesterol. Artikel bertujuan untuk menkaji hubungan metabolit sekunder dan pemanfaatan Syzygium polyanthumsebagai obat tradisional serta bukti ilmiahnya. Tulisan ini didasarkan pada kajian literatur baik secara online dan offline berupa buku dan jurnal ilmiah. Syzygium polianthum mengandung berbagai metabolit sekunder terutama essential oils, tannin, flavonoid, dan terpenoid. Sebagai bahan obat tradisional, Syzygium polyanthum digunakan sebagai obat diabetes mellitus, gangguan lambung, mengatasi penyakit haemorrhoids, diarrhea, penyakit kulit, penyegar, hipertensi dan kolesterol. Secara ilmiah telah Syzygium polyanthum memiliki bioaktivitas sebagai antimikroba, antioksidan, antidiabetes, dan anti kolesterol.   Kata kunci:Syzygium polyanthum, essensial oil, antioksidan

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research was conducted because of the low learning motivation and learning achievements of students in the subjects of Biology and still has not done well the use of learning methods, especially in the learning process in the Biology class of XII IPA 1 SMAN 6 Bekasi. This research outputs indicated that Discovery Learning has a positive impact in improving students motivation. Based on data analysis, the activity of the teacher in the learning process using Discovery Learning method in each cycle also increased as well as the positive impact on student achievement. This can be shown by the average value of students in each cycle which is constantly increasing. Thus the hypothesis of action in this study proved that the application of the discovery learning method (Discovery Learning) in teaching and learning can enhance students motivation to learn Biology with the material theory of evolution.Keywords : Motivation, Achievement, Biology, Evolution, Discovery Learning Method

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is aimed to know the differences increase critical thinking skills through learning group and individual problem solving in thermochemical material. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design and study sample consisted of 103 students, divided into the first experimental (group problem solving) (35 students), the two group experimental (individual problem solving) (34 students). The collected through pretest-posttest. The analyzed with the Kruskal Wallis test, the results showed that the learning problem solving as a group or individually can improve students’ critical thinking skills. Statistical test there are significant differences in the students critical thinking skills thermochemical material between students who received group and individual problem solving. Critical thinking skills improvement with problem solving individual learning higher compared with group learning problem solving.Keywords: problem solving learning, critical thinking skillsABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa melalui pembelajaran group dan individual problem solving pada materi termokimia. Data uji statistik, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi termokimia antara siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran group problem solving dan individual problem solving. Peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan pembelajaran individual problem solving lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran group problem solving.Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran Problem Solving, Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis

Abstract

One’s ability to absorb and master the subject matter is different from one another. Some are able to learn quickly, some other are slow. This may be caused by the learning styles and also some aspects both from within and from outside. The purpose of this study was to find out what learning styles adopted by the students of STKIP Purnama, especially those who already work in both at school and in other institutions and also to identify the factors that influence the students’ learning activities. This research method applied were observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that learning style that is applied by students STKIP Purnama, especially those who already work, is the auditory and visual learning styles. A total of 15 respondents applying auditory learning style, while 5 respondents applying visual learning style.Keywords : learning materials, learning style

Abstract

Giving instruction for a language class specifically a grammar class can be a problematic issue of controversy in EFL context for non native speaker (NNS) teacher due to the lack of approach or strategies implementation and the language problem faced in the teaching and learning process. The primary aim of this article is to provide some insight for teachers when conducting or giving instruction to the teaching of English grammar. It also highlights that in giving instruction, combining deductive and inductive approaches can be beneficial for teachers or faculties who are teaching English grammar in the setting of EFL context. Hence, they have to vary the strategies whether it should be extensive or intensive as suggested by Hinkel (2006) in which it might be one of the technique that can be put into account and applied in order to make the teaching of grammar more effective and efficient.Keywords : EFL context, deductive and inductive approaches

Abstract

This reserach was conducted to determine the influence of organizational behavior and commitment towards lecturers’ performance at private universities in Jakarta. The method used in this research is the survey method. The samples in this research were 90 lecturers of private universities who were selected randomly. The technique used to analyze the obtained data was a path analysis by employing SPSS program. The results indicated that: (1) there was influence of organizational behavior towards the lecturers’ performance, (2) there was influence of commitment towards the lecturers’ performance, (3) there was influence of organizational behavior and commitment simultaneously towards the lecturers’ performance.Keywords: organizational behavior, commitment, lecturer performance

Abstract

This research aims to improve students learning activities on the subjects of Indonesian language using model AIR (Auditory, Intellectual, Repetition) in the fifth grade. The research was done on March to May 2015. The subjects were students of class V SD with the number of students 20 and the object is the students learning activities in the Indonesian language lessons using AIR models (Auditory, Intellectual, Repetition). The study was conducted by two cycles, one cycle consisting of two meetings. In the first cycle is done the planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection techniques used were observation of student learning activities and observation of activities of teachers. Based on this research, the data can be obtained as follows: In the first cycle of the first meeting, there are 9 people who are active with the percentage of 45% and the second meeting there were 11 people who are active as a percentage: 55%. Silkus II At the first meeting there were 17 people who are active as a percentage: 85% and the second meeting there were 20 people who are active with the percentage of students who are active: 100%. The average value of grade increased each meeting. In the first cycle of meetings I value the class average was 59.73 and the meeting II was 72.17. At the first meeting of the second cycle the average value is 84.01 and the meeting class II is 93.81. The results of the research that has been done and from data analysis can be concluded that by using AIR models (Auditory, Intellectual, Repetition) can improve students learning activities on the subjects of class V SDN Indonesian Medan Helvetia FY 066 046 2014/2015. Therefore, it is suggested that the teachers can use the Model AIR (Auditory, Intellectual, Repetition) in learning.Keywords : Learning activities, learning model, AIR (Auditory, Intellectual, Repetition)

Abstract

ABSTRAK Realistic mathematics education (RME) salah satu dari sekian banyak cara mengajar matematika yang mengangkat kehidupan sehari-hari sebagai titik awal dalam membangun konsep matematika. Tulisan ini didasarkan pada studi literatur dari berbagai tulisan ilmiah yang telah dipublikasikan melalui buku maupun jurnal ilmiah. RME ditemukan karena melihat banyaknya permasalahan matematika yang disebabkan karena peserta didik kurang memahami apa yang mereka pelajari dalam materi matematika. Matematika dianggap sebagai mata pelajaran yang sangat jauh dari kehidupan sehari- hari manusia dan hampir tidak memiliki manfaat untuk dipelajari. RME memiliki lima prinsip yang mampu mengembalikan kembali pemikiran yang salah mengenai belajar matematika dan melihat betapa pentingnya mempelajari matematika dalam aktivitas sehari- hari manusia. Lima prinsip dalam RME, yakni 1) Penggunaan konteks, 2) Penggunaan model untuk matematisasi progresif, 3) Pemanfaatan hasil konstruksi peserta didik, 4) Interaktivitas, 5) Keterkaitan.Pembelajaran matematika yang menggunakan RME mampu menolong siswa semakin memaknai kelas pembelajaran matematika di sekolah. Kata kunci:Realistic mathematics education (RME), Matematisasi progresif, Kontstruksi, Interaktivitas, Keterkaitan.   ABSTRACT Realistic mathematics education (RME) is one way from many mathematic instructions that made our daily live as a starting point to build mathematic concept. This article is based upon other literatures which published in a journals or books. RME was founded for the problem that experienced by student to understand mathematics. Recently, many students thought mathematics as abstract education which has no relation in their life and has no function. RME has five principles which able to turn over the wrong concept about mathematic and also to explain how important learn mathematic in our day life. These five principles are: 1) Contextual function 2) Model for progressive mathematic 3) Using the construction of students 4) Interactivity 5) Intertwinement. Mathematic instruction which using RME able to give more understanding about mathematic in the school. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to improve students motivation after learning performed using the methodof the Listening Team in the subject of Social Science, Class V of Elelemntary School,totaling 25 students. The data collection technique used is observation sheets andquestionnaires. This research was conducted in two cycles of the first cycle and the secondcycle through four stages: planning, action, observation / observation, and reflection. Theresults obtained that student motivation menglami significant improvement. It can be seenfrom the increase in average student motivation for each cycle, t the average score of hefirst cycle students motivation, namely 68,68. 16 students were motivated with a percentage(64%), 7 students were motivated enough by percentage (28 %), and 2 students are notmotivated by the percentage (8%) and an increase in the second cycle is the average scoreof student motivation 78.08 i.e, 24 students were motivated by the percentage (96%), onlyone of the students was sufficiently motivated with percentage (4%) and no student wasmotivated with percentage (0%). The results of the questionnaire distributed to studentsalso increased, namely on the initial conditions before action there were only three studentswho have learnt high motivation with a percentage of 12% and thereafter Learning MethodsListening Team increased with the data in the first cycle of 10 students who have themotivation to learn with a high percentage of 40% and the second cycle of 23 students whohave high motivation to learn with the percentage of 92%. It can be concluded that the useof learning methods Listening Team can increase students motivation.Keywords: Methods, Learning, Listening Team Motivation.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatan motivasi belajar siswa setelah dilakukanpembelajaran menggunakan Metode Listening Team Pada Mata Pelajaran IPS Di Kelas VSD, yang berjumlah 25 orang siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalahmenggunakan lembar observasi dan angket. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus yaitusiklus I dan siklus II yang melalui 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan,pengamatan/observasi, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh bahwa motivasi belajarsiswa menglami peningkatan yang signifikan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan rataratamotivasi belajar siswa untuk tiap siklus, pada siklus I skor rata-rata motivasi belajarsiswa 68,68 yaitu 16 orang siswa termotivasi dengan persentase (64%), 7 orang siswacukup termotivasi dengan persentase (28%), dan 2 orang siswa tidak termotivasi denganpersentase (8%) dan terjadi peningkatan pada siklus II yaitu dengan skor rata-rata motivasibelajar siswa 78,08 yaitu 24 orang siswa termotivasi dengan persentase (96%), 1 orangsiswa cukup termotivasi dengan persentasse (4%) dan tidak ada siswa yang tidaktermotivasi denganpersentase (0%). Hasil penelitian dari angket yang dibagikan pada siswajuga mengalami peningkatan yaitu pada kondisi awal sebelum tindakan hanya ada 3 siswayang memiliki motivasi belajar tinggi dengan persentase 12% dan setelah dilaksanakanMetode Pembelajaran Listening Team mengalami peningkatan dengan data pada siklus I10 siswa yang memiliki motivasi belajar tinggi dengan persentase 40% dan pada siklus II23 siswa yang memiliki motivasi belajar tinggi dengan persentase 92%. Dengan demikiandapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan metode pembelajaran Listening Team dapatmeningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa.Kata kunci: Metode, pembelajaran, Listening Team Motivasi

Abstract

The background of this research is the incapacity of teachers in developing syllabi and lesson plan (RPP). This research is a classroom action research (CAR) at SMP 21 Ambon which aims to improve the competence of teachers in developing the syllabus through professional development with cooperative approach. The study was conducted in two cycles involving collaborators. These results indicated that the ability of teachers/participants in understand-ing of the syllabus and lesson plan (RPP) increased, from an average of 65.31% to 78.75%. The activity teacher/participants also increased which is marked by the increasing boldness of teachers in asking questions and raising such issues and increased cooperation of teachers in developing learning tools, especially for teachers in one subject cluster.Keywords : learning syllabus, lesson plans, Classroom Action Research (CAR).
