Abstract

Tiga puluh spesies polychaeta telah dilaporkan dari pantai intertidal berbatu “Gunung Kidul”, Yogyakarta. Semua spesimen disimpan di Pusat Penelitian Oseanografi (P2O-LIPI), Jakarta. Kebanyakan polychaeta tersebut tersebar luas di perairan Indo-West Pacific. Sembilan belas dari seluruh spesies yang teridentifikasi terindikasi sebagai temuan pertama di perairan Indonesia, tetapi temuan tersebut perlu diverifikasi

Abstract

Acrocephalus  orientalis termasuk burung migran pengunjung  di Indonesia, yang berbiak di Asia Timur yaitu Siberia Selatan, Mongolia, Cina, Korea dan  Jepang. Penelitian dilakukan di Danau Tempe (Sulawesi Selatan) dan Tanjung Burung (Tangerang, Banten) pada bulan Oktober- Desember 2008 dan Mei-Juli 2009. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : 1) menggambarkan tipe  habitat yang digunakan Acrocephalus orientalis 2) menjelaskan perbedaan  ukuran tubuh pada awal dan akhir masa migrasi di Indonesia.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Danau Tempe dan Tanjung Burung merupakan wilayah di Indonesia yang menjadi  tempat singgah dan tujuan migrasi. Selama waktu penelitian sebanyak 256 ekor  burung Acrocephalus orientalis yang berkunjung pada kedua daerah tersebut berhasil ditangkap dan dilepaskan kembali. Jumlah burung yang tertangkap pada awal musim migrasi adalah 152 ekor dan pada akhir migrasi 104 ekor. Hasil Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dengan SPSS 16.0 terhadap ukuran tubuh menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan nyata (P<0.05)  antara burung pada awal dan akhir masa migrasi terhadap berat badan, panjang tarsus, panjang ekor, panjang total dan rentang sayap

Sutrisno, H. 2009. Moth (Insecta : Lepidoptera) Diversity in montane Gunung Patuhaprotected forest, West Java, Indonesia. Zoo Indonesia 18(2): 69-78. A study onmontane moth diversity was conducted at Gunung Patuha protected fores, West Javat.The aim of the study was to evaluate the biodiversity of this montane protected forestusing moths as an indicator. For comparison, biodiversity data of other submontaneforests (G. Kendeng & G. Botol, Halimun National Park, West Java) and a low landforest (Giam Siak Kecil Nature Reserve, Sumatra) were used. The results of Fisher ádiversity indexes across all sites of Gunung Patuha, showed that the second site(1,900 m asl.) was the highest (85.48). On the other hand, the third site (2,250 m asl.)was the lowest (45.70). The species composition of those sites were also different. Atthe first site, Pyralid and Noctuid moths were dominant, while at the second and thethird sites, Geometrid and Noctuid moths were dominant. Moreover, pyralid mothsincrease gradually along with the decrease of gradient altitude at this forest. Comparedwith other data, the diversity of macro-moths at Gunung Patuha was slightly lower thanthose of the two submontane forests, Gunung Botol and Gunung Kendeng but higherthan that of Giam Siak Kecil, they were 117.26, 179, 117.4 and 47.68, respectively.

Abstract

Karyotype information and taxonomic research using the character of chromosomes on snakes of the oriental region are still very limited. Therefore the karyotype of two species snakes of the family Colubridae (Xenochrophis melanzostus and Ptyas mucosa) from Java were analyzed using splash method and blood culture technique. The shape and size of prometaphase chromosome were successfully determined. The result of chromosome observation, suggested that the karyotype formula of Ptyas mucosa are 2n=34=3m+1sm+4a+9t. This formula supports the conclusion Ptyas mucosa from Java populations are belong to the same species as the Indian. On the other hand, the karyotype formula of Xenochrophis melanzostus are 2n=34= 12m + 18sm + 4t. This information supports the conclusion that Xenochrophis melanzostus is separated from Xenochrophis piscator.

Abstract

 Monyet ekor panjang merupakan jenis primata yang memiliki kemampuan adaptasi yang tinggi untuk bertahan hidup pada berbagai tipe habitat yang berbeda. Kemampuan ini berkaitan dengan bagaimana jenis ini memanfaatkan sumberdaya yang terbatas di habitatnya selama waktu aktif untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya di alam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan pola aktivitas dan penggunaan strata vertikal oleh kelompok monyet ekor panjang yang sudah terhabituasi dengan baik di fasilitas penangkaran semi alami Pulau Tinjil, Propinsi Banten, Indonesia. Kelompok monyet ekor panjang diamati menggunakan metode Scan Sampling dengan interval lima menit antara bulan Maret dan September 2011. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, kelompok monyet ekor panjang menggunakan waktu aktifnya paling banyak untuk berpindah (36,01%) dan beraktivitas paling banyak pada ketinggian 1-5 meter diatas tanah (31,98%).

Suwito, A. 2008. The Mosquito (Diptera: Culicidae) of Boganinani WartaboneNational Park, North Sulawesi: Diversity, Status and Habitat. Zoo Indonesia17(1):27-34. Mosquitoes need suitable habitats for the development of larvae. Larvaehabitats were identified and characterized at three locations: Mauk-Molotong River &Mainakum in Boganinani Wartabone National Park, and Mount Pakinya near PusianVillage out side from national park. Larvae were collected from bamboo stump, treeholes or puddle on the stones, while adults were collected using insect net and lighttrap especially in Mount Pakinya. Totally twenty two species of mosquitoes from sevengenera were identified morphologically. Species of Anopheles spp. and Culex spp.were the most dominant in Mount Pakinya. The conversion of forest becomes padifield and villages would rise new habitats of breeding sites, that finally would changethe distribution and composition of mosquitoes.
