Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the biocompatibility biphasic calcium phosphate with alginate combination by evaluating blood and calcium concentration. This study used three male sheeps, age 1.5 year old with an average weight of 20 kg. Anaesthesia is using an intravenous anaesthetic combination of 10% ketamine HCl (2 mg / kg BW) and 10% xylaxine HCl (0.1 mg / kg BW). The implant material is grown on the right sheep tibia. As a control, the left sheep tibia was made of defects but not implanted. The incision orientation is the straight line of the tibial femoral joint at medial, 3.6 cm from caudal to cranial and perpendicular from that point 5.7 cm to the distal direction. The defect is made using a bone drill to make a hole according to the size of the implant (diameter 0.8 cm and 0.4 cm long). Blood parameters (erythrocytes, hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (Hct), total leukocytes and differentiation of leukocytes; neutrophils, eusinophils, basophils, lymphocytes and monocytes) and calcium evaluations were performed on days 0, 7, 30, 60 and 90 post implantation. Based on complete blood count no significant of blood parameters. Based on the calcium value, there are significant values on the 30th and the 90th. Blood calcium concentration were decreased from day 0 to 90.

Abstract

Natural bioactive compounds used as feed supplements in feed could increase chicken productivity in the livestock industry. The research aims to study the use of guava leaf powder as a source of bioactive compounds in the feed on growth performance and duodenum morphology of Jawa Super Chicken. This study used 80 days old chick (DOC) Jawa Super chickens reared until the age of 16 days. The study used a completely randomized design, with the addition of treatments guava leaf powder in the basal feed from 0 g/kg diet (control); 2.5 g/kg of feed (P1); 5 g/kg of feed (P2); 10 g/kg of feed (P3). Parameters observed included growth performance, body components, digestive organ components and duodenum morphology consisting of crypt depth, height, and area of villi. Data was analyzed by using one-way analysis of variance then continued with LSD and Duncan test (Pd”0.05). The results showed that guava leaf powder could significantly increase the height of villi, and components of digestive organs in chickens. The results of the duodenum morphology observation showed that the P2 and P3 are better than the control (Pd”0.05). The growth performance and body components of the Jawa Super chicken did not show a significant difference (Pd”0.05) between the control and the treatment. In conclusion, the guava leaf powder with a dose of 10 g/kg body weight can increase duodenal villi growth, the weight of intestine and liver without influence the weight of Jawa Super chickens aged 16 days.

Abstract

Probiotic based products are associated with many health benefits. However, the main problem is the low survival of these probiotic in food products as well as in gastrointestinal tract. Providing probiotics with a physical barrier is an efficient approach to maintain microorganisms and to deliver them into the gut. Microencapsulation is one of the most efficient methods, and it has been under consideration and investigation by some researcher. Generally, the success of this technology is depend on the quality of the wall material, probiotic strain, the core release form and the encapsulation method. Therefore, in this review, some relevant microencapsulation aspects, such as the capsule, wall material, core release forms, encapsulation methods will be briefly discussed. In this sense, microencapsulation has gained an increasing interest, since it has been demonstrated that it could protect the destruction of bacteria not only during its production process but also during its delivery into gastrointestinal tract, as well as it function as a protective effects during storage.

Abstract

Avian Influenza Disease (AI) has has evolved continuously that impact on economic losses incurred. Deaths can reach 90% -100%. AI’s prevention strategies one of them is a vaccinations. AI vaccine design choice is important for breeders in accordance with the needs and the field. This research aims to analyze poultry farmer preference to AI vaccine product design. Data analysis using descriptive tabulation and Descrete Choice Experiment (DCE) followed regression of multinominal logit to look for influencing variables. The results showed that farmer preference to AI vaccine choice isvaccine design model (F) 28%,vaccine (D) 23%, vaccine (E) 22%, vaccine (C) 16%, vaccine (B) 8% and vaccine (A) 3%.Vaccine (F) is predominantly a breeder preference where has the highest level of category combinations. Variables that have answers to design decisions are vaccine design (D) design solutions and services (D), options for vaccine selection (E), and vaccine selection service (B). Breeders in vaccine selection are more concerned with quality variables and who provide laboratory services because they are a major factor in the success of vaccination programs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between spermatozoa DNA damages with spermatozoa protein profiles of after freezing. The rate of spermatozoa DNA damages was measured by Sperm-Bos-Halomax from two Brahman bull straw samples and the spermatozoa protein was isolated by separating the upper and lower fractions of the centrifugation results. The protein profiles were then analyzed using SDS PAGE with a 12.5% separating gel concentration. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively by comparing level of spermatozoa DNA damages with spermatozoa protein profiles of upper and lower fractions. The results of the analysis showed that in the upper fractions at 37.11% level of spermatozoa damages, one protein band (29 kDa) and at 10.66% level of DNA spermatozoa damages 9 protein bands (128 kDa, 110, 91, 55, 44, 29, 27, 25 and 20 kDa) were found, respectively. Meanwhile, in the lower fractions of frozen semen, at 37.11% level of spermatozoa DNA damages 4 protein bands (105, 82, 56 and 25 kDa), and at 10.66% level of spermatozoa DNA damages 8 protein bands (109, 95, 79, 69, 50, 44, 24 and 18 kDa) were found, respectively. It can be concluded that there are differences in the spermatozoa protein profiles between different levels of spermatozoa damages.

Abstract

Hematology value is important to evaluate individual health status. This study was purposed to observe the hematological values of male and female Cynopterus titthaecheilus. The study was conducted on 16 C. titthaecheilus (six adult males, six adult females and four juveniles) to study the haematological profiles. Blood samples were taken using tuberculin needles and analyzed by hematology analyzer for hematological values. Females C. titthaecheilus had a higher number of white blood cells than the males, but no differences in the white blood cells differential. Males C. titthaecheilus had a higher number of platelets than the females. Generally, the juveniles had a higher number of leucocytes as well as number of platelets than the adults. Based on the stress index value, it was concluded that young bats had a lower stress level compared to adult bats.
