Abstract

A study on plankton diversity in Lake Buyan is very important to be undertaken. Thisis related to the fact that it is frequently mentioned that its condition is getting worse, itscapacity decreased because of sedimentation and its fish density is decreasing.Since the surrounding of the lake has been mostly utilized for agricultural activities, and settlement is getting dense there, it is likely that pollutant as well as untreated dischargedwater has flushed into the lake. Results of the study showed that there were 33 plankton species there prior toEichornia being cleared from the lake. The species richness decreased to 26 after clearing.

Abstract

Sustainable Development and Eco-Development are not the final aim which be reached in environment management. Meanwhile, the final purpose of environment management is welfare of human life on this time and future. Development on managing and exploiting Environment, beside can improve the society prosperity also contain potency as conflict source among the society. Management of environment conflict to realize the sustainable local development can be done by counselling and education, economic instrument in the form of incentive and disinsentif, and also through alternative dispute resolution.

Abstract

AbstractThe objectives of the research were to find out the exploitation factor and quantify oflogging residue from forest harvesting operation. Logging residue is defined as stump, trimming from stem, trimming from upper stem and branches which has 30 cm as minimumdiameter and 4 meter of minimum length. Data was collected from two forest company, inCentral Kalimantan and West Sumatera. Data were measured at 10 sample plots in each 1hectare at those both location. Result of the study showed that logging residue occurred atthe harvested site, landing site and at the logyard. Logging residue in each hectare atCentral Kalimantan more than West Sumatera but in each tree quantity of logging residuewas nearly same at both location. The percentage of logging residue at Central Kalimantanwas 33,8%, and at the West Sumatera was 30,4 %. Exploitation factor of logging operationwas 0,75 at West Sumatera and 0,74 at Central Kalimantan. This number indicated that therecovery rate of forest harvesting operation was about 75 % at those both forest companies.

Abstract

Countermeasures of community-based lake sediments are directed at maintaining the dynamic balance of Lake Batur, Beratan Lake, Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan. Sedimentation process of this lake is triggered by the pattern of management of agricultural land on the edge of the lake is less attention to aspects of soil and water conservation. The purpose of this research is; (1) to obtain a community-based sedimentation prevention model, (2) Mapping Land management on the edge of the lake, (3) erosion control strategy at the edge of the lake. This research is field experiment and surpei research, sampling is done by purposive sampling at Batur Lake 20 samples, Beratan Lake 16 samples, Lake Buyan 16 samples and Danau Tamblingan 12 Sampel. The socio-economic support data of the community was determined by 180 respondents in cluster sampling. Interviews and questionnaires are closed questions on a conventional scale. Characteristics of the lake were analyzed descriptive statistics using SPSS analysis tool. Land mapping is done by GPS method with GIS device. Predict erosion using the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) Model while for sedimentation using the Stanford Sediment model. Data analysis to find out the model of development of sedimentation rate in lake due to erosion that happened, done by non linear regreresi analysis. The results of the analysis are tested on both sides with 95% confidence level on sediment data that is modeled whether or not significant effect

Abstract

Learning activity at home is a routine task performed by the students as the implementation of academic curriculum. Most of activities done by the students in respect to the implementation of the academic curriculum such as in preparing self and structured tasks, in writing practicum reports, in preparing for the mid and last exams of the semester, are done at home. In general, the students of the faculty of mathematics and natural sciences (FMNS), Manado State University, live in homes of Minahasa tradition. In fact, conventional activity done by the students at the lease home of Minahasa tradition in cool area showed unfavorable risks to students based on the load of learning with indicators of musculoskeletal complaints, boredom, and fatigue. Consequently, the students were not yet able to attain the intended performance based on indicators the accuracy, speed, constancy and the results of working. In other words, the conventional activity is not able to be an ergonomic one. To overcome the problems, by using total ergonomics approach (TEA), it has made the efforts of ergonomics interventions. In order to test the capability of the ergonomics interventions, it had been done a research with the hypothesis, the ergonomics interventions on the activity in boardinghouse of Minahasa tradition: (1) increases the accuracy of working; (2) increase the speed of working; (3) increase the constancy of working; and (4) increase the results of working of the students. This research was done in two periods by utilizing the treatment by subject design. The first period, without intervention, was done during four weeks. The second period, with intervention, was also done during four weeks. The subjects utilized in the research were as many as 15 persons. The measurements of dependent variables were done before and after doing the activity of learning in every unit of activity. The results of the research showed that the ergonomics interventions on the learning activities in boardinghouse could significantly (p<0.05): (1) increases the accuracy of working 55.06%; (2) increase the speed of working 17.32%; (3) increase the constancy of working 30.72%; and (4) increase the results of working of the students 131.44%. The ergonomics interventions were successful in overcoming the ergonomic problems in the learning activity in boardinghouse. Based on the research it can be concluded that the ergonomics interventions can increase the performance of the students with indicators; increasing the accuracy of working; increasing the speed of working; increasing the constancy of working; and increasing the results of working of the students. It can be suggested that for the lecture of Basics Physics II, the learning activity with ergonomic interventions can be an alternative for the lecturer team so that the students achieve the intended performance.

Abstract

Survey concerning bird which involved species richness and abundances have beencarried out in Sibetan Agrotourism , Karangasem, between January and August 2004. Datawere collected utilizing line transects, free exploration, and point count techniques as wellas by interviewing the local resident. From 43 bird species that have been identified, morethan 80 percent had interesting appearances, voice, and behavior. Nine species,( GreenJungle Fowl, Yellow-vented Bulbul, Black-naped Oriole, Magpie Robin, Sooty-headedBulbul, Bar-winged Prinia, Peaceful Dove Orange-headed Thrush, and Spotted Dov), areconsidered to be atractive bird, because of their body beauty, mobility behavior as well as byinteresting call. These are very potential to give added values to Agrotourism of Sibetan. For these purposes, improvement community’s corcern ,rehabilitation of habitat, captivebreeding, and reintroduction of threatened species from locality extinction are needed

Abstract

TMB-59 is one of 39 irrigation systems under the project of Sustainable Development of Irrigated Agriculture in Buleleng and Karangasem Regencies, Bali (SDIABKA). This system, whose cost is amounting up to Rp 850,848,998.00, has been jointly financed by the European Commission and the Government of Indonesia. The average of groundwater discharged at TMB-59 was 12.93 l/s and the maximum discharge that was recommended by the project was 14.4 l/s. In case of water availability was limited, it was necessary that the discharge should be less than the recharge and the opportunity cost of water as well as depletion premium should be considered in designing tariff structure of water. Present water pricing by Tubewell User Group (TUG) of Sarining Pertiwi at TMB-59 considered operation and maintenance (OM) only – the costs in amounting to Rp 301.01/CM. The concept of sustainable value in the use of water fused the full supply cost, opportunity cost and externality cost. It was obtained that sustainable value in the use of water for irrigation in TMB-59 was Rp 1,218.29/CM consisting to full supply cost of Rp 631.26/CM, opportunity cost of Rp 188.74/CM, and depletion premium of Rp 398.29/CM. This amount, which was four times of OM costs or two times of full supply cost, and should be paid by users in order that irrigated agricultural development is to become sustainable.
