Abstract

The main objectives of this research was to find out whether or not there was a statically significant correlation between the eighth grade students’ reading motivation (independent/predictor variable) and reading comprehension achievement (dependent/criterion variable) at SMP Negeri 1 Buay Madang Timur. This research applied correlational study with descriptive method. The population was all of the Eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Buay Madang Timur, with the total number of the students 208 students. The sample was 36 students taken through cluster random sampling method. From the data distribution, it can be said that most of the students tend to have difference score in students’ motivation and reading comprehension tests. The average score of reading motivation and reading comprehension test were 74.14 and 76.81 respectively. The students who have high reading motivation, they also got high reading comprehension achievement. And the students who have enough reading motivation, they also got enough reading comprehension achievement. Based on the findings in this research, it was found that the Pearson correlation coefficient between students’ reading motivation and reading comprehension achievement was 0.80 and exceeds the t-obtained was 7.77. For p>0.05 and df =36-2 =34, the t-table is 2.03224. Because t-obtained was higher than t-table, the correlation coefficient is significant. This means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Finally, based on the finding of R square in this research it was found that the predictor variable (students’ reading motivation) gave contribution 64% to criterion variable (reading comprehension achievement). The rest 36% were influenced by others factors, like their interest in learning reading, their health or frame of mind on the day they took the test, the frequency of practice, their reading habit, etc.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between education and knowledge level on motivation in doing gymnastics in third trimester pregnant women in Bengkulu city. The method used in this study is cross-sectional, because researchers do observation or measurement of variables with the approach at once at one time. The population used were all pregnant women of third trimester at 5 public health centers of Bengkulu city, amounting to 107 pregnant women. Data collection techniques in this study is a questionnaire (questionnaire) by conducting tests before and after applied knowledge about pregnancy exercise. Technique of data analysis in this research use chi square test. Based on the output using computerized system program spss version 16 for windows with a significant level of small p of 0.05 that the value of education level is 0.751 and the value of knowledge is 0.671. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between the level of education and knowledge of motivation in doing gymnastics in third trimester pregnant women in the city of Bengkulu because more than the standard value of chi square is 0.05. It is recommended to connect in the form of other variations to be more easily applied to pregnant women third trimester.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know whether or not there is significant different between students who are taught by using Sscramble Sentencesand the students who are taught by using Cconventional Technique in teaching writing recount text tothe eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Buay Madang Timur”. This research was quantitative research, using experimental method and true experimental design. Then, the population of the research were 208 studentsfrom six classes. Andthe sample of the study were 72 students, consist of two groups, namely experimental group (VIII.C)consist of 36 students and control group (VIII.D) consist of 36 students which choosen by cluster random sampling. In this research, the researcher used written test as an instrument for the collecting the data. The data obtained from Iindependent t-test analysis by using SPSS 20, between the result of posttest in experimental group and control group. Based on the calculation by using Iindependent t-test in SPSS 20, the writer found that t obtained was higher than t table (4.174 > 1.994) at the significant level α=0.05 in two tailed testing. It meant that there was any significant differences between experimental group and control group. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that SscrambleSentences was significantly effective in teaching writing recount texttothe eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Buay Madang Timur.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of physical work on urine color and hematocrit levels on heat-exposed workers at Depot Pasir Mutiara Boom Baru. The method in this research is cross sectional study and the sample is sand transporter in the Depot Pasir Mutiara. The sample numbered 65 people, with the inclusion criteria of workers who have worked for more than 2 years and are permanent employees. Measurements of dehydration were done through urine color examination taken after work and blood to determine hematocrite levels, whereas physical work was assessed on the basis of work fatigue analysis using the Subjective Self Rating Test (SSRT) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using chi-square test. Based on urine color examination and hematocrite level, the data obtained were almost whole (95%) of workers were dehydrated, only 5% were not dehydrated. The results of physical work measurements (89%) experienced mild fatigue, 10% experienced moderate fatigue and only 1% experienced severe fatigue. The result of chi-square test showed that there was significant influence between physical work on urine color and hematocrite level (p = 0,00). Abstract

This study aimed to produce a valid, practical, and effective Javelin Throwi learning product. This research method is Research and Development (R & D). Data collection was conducted with questionnaires obtained from evaluation of teacher of physical education and result of questioner by student. The results of the experiments for the small group experiments tested the average of the answers by percentage (83%), and large group trials showed the level of validity for the teacher of the physical education obtained average answers by percentage (78%), then the product has good category validity . Meanwhile, to see the practicality of small group testing on the students questionnaire filling obtained an average frequency distribution value of 79% while in large group trials obtained frequency distribution of 80.4% then the results show the level of practicality with good category. While for the effectiveness level on product aspect of motivation, result from small group test show relation aspect of motivation equal to 71,2% and large group trial is equal to 71,8% from cognitive, affective, and psikomotor aspect, hence result of tested product try shows the level of effectiveness with good category. Based on the above explanation has been found learning model of game-based javelin game given to the students have been effective so that it can be applied in learning Javelin Throw in Elementary School.
