Abstract

Post-COVID-19, Southeast Sulawesi’s tourism sector has exhibited signs of recovery; however, its contribution to national tourist arrivals and regional revenue remains marginal. Given the region’s predominantly Muslim population, integrating a halal tourism framework encompassing prayer facilities, halal-certified culinary offerings, and Sharia-compliant activities is increasingly imperative. This study examines tourism development in Kendari City, a mainland urban area, and in Wakatobi Regency, an archipelagic region designated as a National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) under the program. Adopting a descriptive qualitative method underpinned by Push-Pull and Stakeholder theories, this research utilizes interviews, observations, document analysis, and FGDs with policymakers, business actors, academics, media, and tourists. Findings indicate that tourist motivations are primarily driven by adventure and bleisure travel, with marine biodiversity and cultural heritage serving as primary attractions. Critical constraints include high travel costs, limited accessibility, and unmet expectations regarding cultural events, infrastructure, and public amenities. Achieving sustainable tourism requires synergistic stakeholder collaboration, improved budget allocation, enhanced promotion, and a structured integration of halal tourism to strengthen competitiveness and support local development.

Abstract

This research aims to explore potential sources of cash waqf and financial management models to support economic development among Muslim communities in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with seven purposively selected informants and direct field observations. Analysis employed the Miles & Huberman interactive thematic model. Findings reveal three promising sources of cash waqf: contributions from prospective brides and grooms, State Civil Service employees, and student movements at primary to senior secondary levels. These sources are estimated to generate approximately Rp. Rp. 53,527,824,000 annually. The funds are managed through mudharabah concepts and allocated to four economic initiatives: micro, small, and medium enterprise capital assistance, palm oil plantation development, catfish farming, and cattle breeding. The study recommends expanding cash waqf participation across broader segments of society, including entrepreneurs, farmers, employees, and students, to strengthen financial resources for sustainable community-based economic growth.

Abstract

While the world rushes to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI), there are some concerns that arise. AI has the capability to have an impact on economic expansion and the employment sector. The influence is assumed to be substantial, since increased productivity and lowered wages and prices combined with a high level of automation implies labor substitution. The widespread adoption of artificial intelligence has the potential to impact the global economy and specifically the Muslim world countries drastically. We studied the influence of AI over economic growth using mathematics, emphasizing the fact that AI is unlike any other production factor. Moreover, the study modified the production function as per the axioms of correct specification of the model and according the current situations. We have established AI's potential impacts on the economic growth. Nations with lower workforce ratios are expected to shift towards technology that increases labor productivity. On the other hand, capital productivity increasing technology can be used by nations grappling with the problems of an aging population. Care must be taken in determining the optimal deployment of models.

Abstract

This article discusses evaluating customer priorities in freight forwarding companies using the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART). SMART techniques can be used to evaluate consumer priorities within an organisation, taking into account factors such as delivery timeliness, the safety and integrity of goods, communication and response, pricing, and flexibility in service options. This study seeks to identify and assess the service features that consumers consider most significant and offer recommendations for service improvement. The results revealed that the A2 alternative was rated first, A1 second, and A6 third, with scores of 0.547, 0.257, and 0.185667, respectively, underscoring a preference for traits with greater benefits. Customers prioritise the safety and integrity of the goods, achieving a maximum score of 76, indicating a significant assessment of the condition of the goods received. This is especially relevant in the halal ecosystem, where compliance with halal standards is essential across sectors such as food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. The transportation and management of halal-certified products must comply with halal certification standards, which quickly impacts consumer choice in the freight forwarding industry. Damage or loss of goods during delivery is a significant issue that the service provider must address. Investigations show that customers prioritise reliability, security, integrity of goods, speed of delivery, and effective communication, which is further strengthened by the increasing demand for halal-compliant services.
