This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques: observation, interview, and documentation with data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results of this research analysis show that the Islamic religious education model in Pasakiat Taileleu Village includes a model of cultivating awareness, omission, wisdom, interaction, commands and prohibitions, advice, habits, punishment, and reward. The implementation of Islamic religious education in Muslim families in this village includes faith education tauhid, worship education, and moral education. Among the three types of education, the most prioritized is faith education because Muslims in this village are a Christian minority. The opportunities for implementing Islamic religious education in this village are the example of parents, the availability of parental time, the existence of Islamic religious education institutions, support from immigrants, the minimal influence of social media, the presence of preachers who serve, and peaceful social conditions. Meanwhile, the challenges in implementing Islamic religious education in this village are the majority Christian environment, the large number of tourists who come to travel, the parents' lack of knowledge about religion, poor economic conditions, limited religious information, and the lack of religious figures. The results of this research can provide guidance for minority Muslim families and perhaps also in other places, and can be used as initial data for future researchers in studying this problem in different contexts and issues.

Abstract

Hirfah (occupation) is one of the criteria for kafa’ah (compatibility) in marriage according to most schools of Islamic thought. However, the Maliki school of thought does not consider Hirfah essential for kafa’ah. According to Maliki scholars, occupation does not impact the benefit or validity of a marriage. This study aims to analyze the Maliki perspective on Hirfah as a criterion for kafa’ah and its implications for marital benefit. This research uses a qualitative approach with content analysis, this research explores the Maliki school’s stance on kafa’ah criteria in depth. The findings indicate that the Maliki school does not include Hirfah as a criterion for kafa’ah, emphasizing instead that religious compatibility is the principal factor. This position is influenced by the cultural context of Imam Malik’s time, when women’s employment was uncommon. However, in contemporary contexts, many women work prior to marriage, which affects their socioeconomic status and, consequently, community perspectives. This shift has led Hirfah to be increasingly viewed as a relevant factor in assessing kafa’ah and the benefit of marriage today.

Abstract

The preference for same-ethnic marriage in Minangkabau society is an ideal marriage pattern to preserve customs and traditions in the customary marriage system. This preference changes when juxtaposed with the tradition of migration by the Minangkabau society, which influences other preferences (interethnic) in the customary marriage system. This research explores interethnic marriage preferences among young Minangkabau migrants in Yogyakarta, an area with cross-cultural characteristics. This research hypothesises that migration influences interethnic marriage preferences among young Minangkabau migrants in Yogyakarta. This research utilises a quantitative-explanative method, and data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire and literature on Minangkabau marriage culture and traditions. The research involved 100 single Minangkabau migrants aged 19-24 in Yogyakarta as respondents April 20, 2024, to May 6, 2024. Simple linear regression analysis and social reality construction were used as data analysis techniques. The results showed a significant influence of migration on interethnic marriage preferences among young Minangkabau migrants in Yogyakarta, with a regression coefficient of 0.307 and a significance level of 0.002 (p < 0.050). This finding indicates that an increase in the migration variable correlates with an increase in interethnic marriage preference (dependent variable). In terms of social reality, this finding shows the emergence of a partial reality in customary marriage preferences resulting from secondary socialisation internalised by young Minangkabau migrants in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the process of moral formation of students at the Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School, Campus 9, Sulit Air, Solok, and to identify various obstacles and supporting factors that influence it. This study is a field study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and used the snowball sampling method in determining informants. Data sources include the Head of the Islamic Boarding School, the Boarding School Teacher Advisory Board (Syeikh Rayon), Senior Students (Mudabbir), and students residing in the Syanggit Dormitory. The results of the study indicate that the process of moral formation of students is carried out comprehensively through two main channels, namely education in the classroom through Islamic subjects rich in moral content, and educational activities outside the classroom such as sports, speeches, and worship activities that shape the character and personality of students. The obstacles faced in this process include differences in student backgrounds, limited time and supervision, lack of student discipline, motivational crisis, psychological pressure, and minimal support from parents. On the other hand, there are several supporting factors, such as synergy and collaboration between students, the Mudabbir (Islamic youth leader), and homeroom teachers, as well as the active involvement of parents and teachers in fostering students' morals. These findings provide an important starting point for future researchers exploring similar issues in broader contexts and issues.

Abstract

Holistic education aims to educate students comprehensively, both in terms of religious knowledge and general knowledge. However, in reality, holistic education in Islamic educational institutions such as Islamic boarding schools has not been implemented properly. Students must be equipped with various abilities or skills to live their lives and pursue their future careers. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the implementation of holistic education in Islamic educational institutions. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data sources were obtained through in-depth interviews with twelve informants consisting of two school leaders, six senior and junior teachers, and three students. All informants were selected using snowball sampling. To support the interview data, the author also conducted direct observations for one month on how holistic education is practiced in the educational institutions under study. In addition, the author also analyzed academic documents that support data related to the research topic. All data were analyzed thematically using the interactive Miles and Huberman technique. The findings show that there are eight practices implemented in holistic education in Islamic educational institutions where this research was conducted. These eight practices are integrated into the teaching of religious beliefs and morals, general knowledge, public speaking skills training, social intelligence interaction, leadership basics, independence, discipline, and physical endurance. These findings can be used as a reference for educational institutions to implement true holistic education. Furthermore, the author suggests that future researchers conduct studies related to this issue, such as holistic education learning methods.

Abstract

This research is a field study with a descriptive qualitative approach that aims to comprehensively describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation process of the tahsin program for teachers and students, as well as interpret the dynamics that occur during its implementation. The results of the study indicate that during the planning stage, the head of the school prepares teaching materials such as a tahsin guidebook, the Quran, stationery, and other supporting media such as PowerPoint and additional reference sources. Teachers prepare the guidebook, stationery, and the Quran, while students prepare the Tilawati book, stationery, and the Quran. During the implementation stage, the tahsin program for teachers is carried out once a week, while for students it is carried out four times a week using media such as the tahsin guidebook, the Quran, and the Tilawati book. Teacher evaluations are carried out continuously throughout the learning process, both at the beginning and at the end of the session. Meanwhile, student evaluations are carried out after completing each chapter of material, both verbally and in writing. The obstacles faced in the implementation of tahsin for teachers are time constraints and regular teacher absence due to other busyness, which are overcome by giving additional assignments in the form of memorizing theory or practice. Meanwhile, obstacles faced by students include low attendance rates and differences in their ability to absorb material, which are addressed by giving homework and additional time for individual tahsin.
