Abstract

Banda sea is subjected to external force such as El Nino South Oscillation (ENSO), Indonesian Through Flow (ITF) andMonsoon. All of these component Combined with Current System, caused sea dynamic. This study aimed to get further knowledge aboutBanda sea dynamic. Based on this phenomenon , this study was conducted with an hypothesis that sea level anomaly (SLA) and seasufrace temperature (SST) will decrease during ENSO event. Also that SLA and SST will seasonally change concerning with Monsoon. The pattern of current in eastern of Banda sea will be seasonally different concerning with monsoon while in western of Banda sea isalmost constant according to ITFThis research carried out in Banda Sea within the rectangular region from 122.42 E to 131.47 E , Latitude 03.47 S to 07.65 S.in period of 1996 to 2006 consist of northwest monsoon, southeast monsoon, 1st transitional month in April and 2nd transitional monthin October. Spatial analysis used to analyze annual and seasonal distribution of SST and SLA from satellite dataset, also by comparisonbetween wind data, ITF pathway and numerical model. SST derived from NOAA / AVHRR satellite data by applying MCSST algorithm,SLA derived from Topex/ Poseidon and Jason-1 Satellite data by applying Inverse distance weighted interpolation, while numerical modelderived from barothropic model using Princeton ocean model.Sea level anomaly and sea surface temperature is decrease according to ENSO event, such as descrease of SLA and SST duringENSO event in 1997 , 2002 and 2004. Sea level anomaly and sea surface temperature is change according to Monsoon that reverse every6 (six) month. SST and SLA get maximum level during northwest monsoon in November to March and get Minimum during Southeastmonsoon in May to September. There are strong correlation coefficient between annual Sea level anomaly and annual Sea SurfaceTemperature with index value up to 0.817104. on the other side correlation coefficient between seasonal Sea level anomaly and SeasonalSea Surface Temperature is 0.576469. Based on Patern of current we found that Western part of Banda sea is strongly affected by ITFwhile eastern part of Banda sea is strongly affected by monsoon.

Abstract

Badung River is flow through two regencies of Badung and Denpasar that has 25.17 km length. People actually use Badung River for tourism, irrigation, drainage system and as the exile of wastewater from all activities along the river. The water quality of Badung River has exceeded the threshold limits. Therefore, It is needed to determinate the carrying capacity of Badung river. Because of the pollution, the water quality has degraded. The objective of this research is knowing the sources of pollution and load capacity of Badung river at Dauh Puri village using Qual2kw model, to define that amount of pollutant that are allowed to exile in Badung River. The water quality parameter that analyzed is BOD, COD, and TSS. This research divided into three segments, and four scenarios of simulations to know allowed loading rate of pollutant along the river. The callculates and allocate pollutant reduction levels necessary to meet approved water quality standards. The result of simulation using Qual2kw showing that BOD has over its limit, meanwhile for COD parameter, the loading rate is between 536,21 to 1360,32 kg/day and TSS loading rate between 2235,92 to 4252,90 kg/day. Abstract

The process of urbanization has changed the face of the landscape, not only in urban environments, but it also has expanded the areas around it. The changes in land use are increasing not only occurs in areas formerly categorized a semi-intensive, such as agricultural lands, but also in extensive and protection areas. However, in some periphery still characterizes the function of a good environment; especially in rural areas the changes that occurred were limited to their own needs (subsistence), as in Mount Walat, Sukabumi. This study aims to identify and analyze the tropical agro-forestry efforts and to provide landscape ecological pattern in order to preserve the environment and social culture. The method used in this study was a site survey method with focusing on the biophysical condition of the site and analysis of reports or other sources regarding the management processes undertaken. Mount Walat ± 359 Ha area of forest is guided by land use pattern that is divided into four characters, i.e., forest ecosystem, opened forest, ownership land, and countrified. Its area of ± 70 Ha was managed as agro-forestry land. The form of tropical agro-forestry in the country side around the site consists of yard and mixture garden, while in the arable land is a mixture garden. In order to prevent of destruction, then the manager invites Hegarmanah villagers to cooperate in maintaining its sustainability by allowing land to cultivated in Mount Walat agro-forestry, with the terms agreed by both parties, without damaging the forest ecosystem. The study was suggested that the community structures and developmental pathways which arised across a gradient of disturbance frequencies can provide models for alternative agro-forestry solutions. Addressing multiple objectives and sustainability in a complex biophysical and socioeconomic system ought to be a challenging and exciting enterprises.

Abstract

PT. Bali Paper Mitra Jembrana is a business unit engaged in manufacturing or recycling (recycle) waste paper (cardboard) into a thin paper which is known as rice paper wrap. This business has been operational since 2004 the paper every day to process anaverage of 13 tonnes of waste paper and produces an average of 10 tons/ day. The production requires 90 m3/day of ground water: 50 m3 for the cleaning cloth (shower system) and 40 m3 for cooling boiler. Heating using coal with a volume of one ton/ day. Steam heat from the boiler used for drying paper. From this process, the 90 m3 of ground water pruducted 60 m3/ day wastewater into lagoon. Waste treatment system of PT. Paper Jembr ana is still a semi-permanent using 5 lagoon with a capacit y of 651 m3. The purpose of this study was to determine the factual quality of water in physical and chemical wastewater produced PT. Bali Paper Mitra Jembrana which will be used as a data base for monitoring and management for stake holder and government. The results show, at the end of the treatment there are 5 parameters which exceeds Waste Water Quality St and ard Class II (LH Decree No. 5 of 1995) such as BODS, COD, phenols, sulfide (H2S) and lead (Pb), so it is not feasible discarded to the outside environment.

Abstract

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport is the second highest airport in activity level in Indonesia. Flight activity in this airport increases every year, with an increase of 20% from 2011 until the end of 2012. The research aimed to identify how much the LTO (Landing-Take-Off) emission activity in I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport. The purpose of this research was to identify how much the emission is and the effect of LTO activities towards the ambient air condition of CO and NOx around the airport. Three measurement points and three days recent flight were applied to understand the emission spreading characteristic in every LTO phases. The three phases of LTO which are consisted of take-off phase, taxi in phase and landing phase, were the main focus of this research. The three recent flights were on Monday 5 of May, on Wednesday 7 of May and on Saturday 10 of May in 2014. Regression bifilar linear statistical analysis method was employed to identify the effect and how big the CO and NOx emission contribution towards the ambient air quality. The results of this research showed that the emission of aircraft activity in LTO phases was effected by the ambient air concentration of CO and NOx. It was proved with the result from F test simultaneous with significant level average 0,033 < 0,005 and with r value that exists between 0,77 – 0,97 with mean contribution was 79,1%. Take-off phase was the phase that produced the biggest NOx gas emission compared to the other phases. When the aircraft did the take-off phase, the thrust was used reached 100%, the purpose was to produce the big energy. The combustion that happened in take-off phase in aircraft machine classified in perfect combustion, also this thing effected the phase to produce the smallest CO gas emission compared with the other phases. Taxi in phase was a phase that produced the biggest CO emission between the two other phases, it was happened because the thrust needed just 7% only so the combustion in aircraft machine classified in imperfect combustion and it was effected the CO emission was increasingly while the landing phase was the phase that produced the smallest CO and NOx gas emission compared to the other phases. Measurement results of the CO and NOx concentration in every point in three days recent flight was still under the quality standard that has been settled appropriate in Government Act number 41 year 1999..

Abstract

Pakerisan watershed is used by the people for various purposes to meet the daily needs for water and it is also for irrigation water. The aim of research was to determine the water quality related to human activities and the pollution index. Water sampling was conducted in the nine sample points i.e. upstream of two sample points, in the middle of four sample points, and in the downstream of three sample points. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. Determination of water quality was carried out by comparing the measured data of each parameter of water with the value of quality standards based on the Bali Governor Regulation Number 08 of 2007, while the definition of the status of water quality was done by the pollution index method. The results showed that the activities that affect the water quality physically, chemically and biologically at the upstream to downstream are farming activities, settlements, tourism and trade. In the upstream showed no parameters that exceeded the quality standards, the variables of BOD, COD, phosphate, fecal coli and total coli exceeded the quality standards and in the downstream, the BOD, fosfat and fecal coli exceeded the quality standards. The pollution index found in the upstream region good condition, whereas in the middle was classified as heavily polluted until the downstream was lightly polluted.
