Abstract

The development of science curriculum aims to achieve the dimensions of knowledge competence, scientific work, and scientific attitude as daily behavior in interacting with society, environmental and technological utilization. Teaching materials are used in the form of book packages and not yet available learning modules. This study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of SETS biological module vision of environmental change and recycling of waste as teaching materials. This research is a research and development with a quasi-experimental design. The design of this study used a pretest-posttest control group design pattern. The population in this study were all students of class X MIA SMA N 2 Purbalingga, with class X MIA 3 sample as experiment class, and class X MIA 2 as control class. The product was developed in the form of a Biology learning module with SETS vision of recycled materials, waste and environmental waste recycling. The prerequisite test includes the normality test of pretest learning results, with ? = 0.05 with the initial conditions of the control class and the experiments not significantly differing. The result of posttest obtained then analyzed by t-test. The result of t-test analysis obtained t arithmetic price> t table price 10,58> 1,67, it can be stated that there is a significant difference between the result of control study and student experiment class. Based on the result of the research, it is concluded that 1) Biology Module SETS is suitable to be used as teaching materials, 2) the use of SETS biology module to study environmental change, waste and waste recycling effectively improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study attempted to describe the impact of Adiwiyata on the environmental caring character of the citizen of State Senior High School 14 of Semarang. This research belonged to descriptivequalitative research. The respondents of the study were determined purposively with the criteria of the school citizen who were active in Adiwiyata activities. The data sources included principals, teachers, students and employees. The methods of data collection used interview, observation and documentation. The results showed that State Senior High School 14 of Semarang implemented environmental education (Indonesian: Pendidikan Lingkungan Hidup) (PLH) learning and environmental activities. The PLH learning process was conducted by discussion methods, practicum, direct observation, demonstration, and role play. The learning materials were developed by raising environmental issues. The assessment of learning outcomes included vegetable growing project, making recycled handicrafts, work method and presentation. The environmental activities conducted by students included daily cleaning, clean Friday, environmental extracurricular, environmental action. 3R waste management (reduce, reuse and recycle), electricity and water savings. This study concluded that Adiwiyata impacted on the environmental caring character building of the State Senior High School 14 of Semarang citizen including: the habituation of keeping the classroom and school environment cleanlines, saving electricity and water, managing the school waste and preserving the biodiversity.

Abstract

Biology learning process in SMA N 1 Slawi generally still oriented to the cognitive learning, yet oriented to develop students' scientific literacy skills in context aspects, competence, knowledge, and attitudes of science. This research aimed to describe the effect of the of Problem-Based Learning accompanying Analyze Case Study to develop scientific literacy of students of grade X SMA N 1 Slawi. The research was a quasy experimental research used  non-equivalent control group design. Sampling techniques was purposive sampling method, which the grade of  X MIA 3 as the control class and X MIA 6 as an experimental class. This data research is data scientific literacy test results, student activities, student respons, teacher feedback, and adherence to learning. scientific literacy test data were analyzed using t-test and test of N-gain. The results showed that learning to use the PBL to Analyze Case Study on experimental class significant to the control class scientific literacy test results analysis, t test showed tcount 4.28 >  ttable 1.996 with significance level of 0.05 so it can be seen the difference in the increase the results of the second study classes. Test N-gain in the low category to high, the experimental class has a percentage of 94.12%, 65.71% while the control class. The t-test average score of N-gain with tcount5 > ttable 1.996. Analysis of experimental class student activity is higher than in the control class with the percentage of 84% for the experimental group and 71% of pupils to grade control included in the criteria fairly active and active learning activities. Based on the results of this study concluded that the application of the model of Problem Based Learning to Analyze Case Study positive effect on students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kontribusi tingkat rasa ingin tahu terhadapkualitas aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran respirasi berbasis pendekatan saintifik. Penelitian initelah dilakukan di SMA N 1 Kudus dengan menggunakan metode kombinasi explanatory sequentialdesign. Sumber data penelitian ini yaitu 119 siswa kelas XI yang diambil dengan random sampling dan15 siswa darinya yang dipilih dengan purposive sampling. Data rasa ingin tahu siswa diperoleh denganmetode angket, sedangkan data aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran respirasi berbasis pendekatansaintifik diperoleh dengan metode angket dan wawancara. Data dianalisis kuantitatif menggunakanteknik deskriptif persentase dan uji regresi, serta dianalisis kualitatif menggunakan teknik Miles danHuberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rasa ingin tahu berkontribusi positif sebesar 67,3%terhadap aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran respirasi berbasis pendekatan saintifik. Hasilwawancara memperkuat bahwa tingkat rasa ingin tahu yang berbeda berpengaruh terhadap kualitasaktivitas mengamati, menanya, mengumpulkan informasi/mencoba, menalar, dan mengkomunikasiyang berbeda pula.   This study aimed to know the contribution of curiosity level toward the quality of students’ activity inscientific approach based-respiration learning. This study has been conducted at SMA N 1 Kudus by using mixedmethod: explanatory sequential design. The prime resources of this research were 119 students of grade XI takenby random sampling and 15 students from the first sampling were selected by purposive sampling. Data ofstudents’ curiosity were obtained by questionnaire, while students’ activity in scientific approach based-respirationlearning were obtained by questionnaire and interview. Data were analyzed quantitatively using percentagedescriptive technique and regression test, and analyzed qualitatively using Miles and Huberman technique. Theresults showed that curiosity contributed positively to students’ activity in scientific approach based-respirationlearning up to 67.3%. The interview results confirmed that the different level students’s curiosity affects to thequality of observing, asking, gathering information/experimenting, associating, and communicating activitywhich were also different.

Abstract

This research aims to optimize the learning activities and test the effectiveness of the use of flash media microscope in biology lab. Research using a design research and development that includes four stages, namely field observations, the implementation of media development, media validation, and implementation of the pilot (small scale and large scale). Small-scale trials were conducted at SMAN 5 Magelang class XI MIA-1 and large-scale trials were conducted at SMAN 5 Magelang XI MIA-1 and XI MIA-3 classes. Validation results from media experts and microscopes experts were 82% and 69%, respectively, with good criteria. The results of the small-scale trials showed a positive response to the flash media using the microscope, while the large scale trials showed results of 82% of students with criteria skilled in using a microscope. The result of questionnaire of student responses shows very good criteria to flash media learning of microscope usage and good on all aspect asked, while teacher give very good response. Based on the results of research ,it is concluded that the use of microscope flash media developed feasible in optimizing the activities of Biology lab works.

Abstract

Genetika merupakan salah satu mata kuliah Keilmuan dan Keterampilan dalam bidang Biologi danmerupakan mata kuliah wajib di program studi pendidikan Biologi STKIP PGRI Sumbar Padang.Konsep-konsep genetika sulit dipahami mahasiswa. Selama perkuliahan mahasiswa hanyamengharapkan informasi dari dosen padahal fasilitas perpustakaan dan wifi sudah tersedia.Mahasiswa tidak mampu menyelesaikan soal-soal genetika yang lebih banyak membahas soal-soalhitungan layaknya matematika. Selama ini belum tersedia lembar kerja mahasiswa yang memadai.Akibatnya proses belajar tuntas (Mastery learning) tidak terlaksana dan hasil belajar mahasiswa masihrendah pada mata kuliah genetika. Tujuan penelitian ini mengembangkan lembar kerja mahasiswaberbasis Mastery learning pada mata kuliah genetika yang praktis dan efektif. Jenis penelitian ini,penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan 4-D models. Teknik analisis data yang digunakanadalah analisis deskriptif yang mendeskripsikan hasil uji kepraktisan dan keefektifan lembar kerjamahasiswa berbasis Mastery learning. Hasil uji kepraktisan lembar kerja mahasiswa berbasis Masterylearning pada mata kuliah genetika berada pada kriteria 80,33% dan 80,14% yang berarti lembar kerjamahasiswa ini praktis digunakan oleh dosen dan mahasiswa. Lembar kerja mahasiswa berbasisMastery learning efektif karena dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar mahasiswa.Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah lembar kerja mahasiswa berbasis Mastery learning pada mata kuliahgenetika dinyatakan praktis dan efektif.   Genetics is one of the subjects that must be followed by students in Biology study programe. Generallystudents do not like the genetic subject because of genetics concepts difficult to understand and theunavailability of a practical student worksheets. Consequently, the complete learning process (Masterylearning) is not fulfilled and low student learning outcomes. The aim of this study develops studentworksheets based on Mastery learning that practical in genetic subject. This research is a research anddevelopment using 4-D models. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis that describesthe results of the practicalities of student worksheets based on Mastery learning by students and lecturersof genetic subject. The result is the student worksheets based on Mastery learning on genetics subject areto the criteria of 80,33% and 80,14%, which means that the students worksheets practical used bylecturers and students. Student worksheet based on Mastery learning effective because it can increase theactivity and student learning outcomes. The conclusion of this study is student worksheets based onMastery learning in the subject of genetics otherwise practical and effective.

Abstract

One of the indicators to measure college students’ achievement is Grade Point Average (GPA). Moreover, nutritional status and learning pattern also influence the learning outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and learning pattern with learning outcomes of Biology student of Universitas Negeri Semarang. The research was a mixed method research design particularly sequential explanatory strategy.The population of the research were students majoring in biology class registered as college students in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. The sampling technique in the quantitative method used proportional random sampling while purposive sampling was applied in the qualitative method. Students’ learning outcomes, in this case, were GPA. Four methods in the data collection were employed. They were an assessment of Body Mass Index (BMI), questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed used partial correlation analysis followed by a multiple correlation and regression analysis. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship as many as 44.2% of nutritional status and learning pattern with learning outcomes. Thus, it was suggested that the nutritional status and learning pattern contribute positively to improve students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

Utilization of teaching materials with the latest innovation called mobile learning can be applied in learning using Android-based smartphones. Kingdom Plantae is a complex material so it needs effective teaching materials using Information Technology (IT). The development of IT has not been utilized as teaching materials. This study aims to develop Android-based e-module as a teaching material for the X-class students of Plantae kingdoms worthy, practical and effective materials. Research and Development (R & D) stages include identification of potential and problems, data, e-module design, e-module validation, revision I e-module design, small-scale trial, revision II e-module design, large-scale trials, final revision and product of the Android-based e-module material of Plantae kingdom. Data completion method is done by giving questionnaire of media and material validity, and questionnaire of practicality on small and wide scale test. Data analysis used descriptive percentage. The result of the research shows e-module worthy of teaching materials with material percentage of material 81,75% and media 88,46%. E-modules are practically used as teaching materials with a percentage of 83.05% scale test and 88.06% widescreen scale and e-modules with effectively average N-Gains of 0.61 (medium category). Based on these results, can get Android-based e-module can be used as a teaching material of high school students X class of Plantae kingdom.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the activities, study results, attitudes and relationships of study results with students attitudes on the application of bioedutainment strategies with the role playing material of the nervous system. This research uses pre-experimental design design with one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this research is all students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 7 Semarang with two classes as a sample determined by purposive sampling. The independent variable is a bioedutainment strategy with role playing. The dependent variable is activity, study result, and attitude. Control variables include teachers, lesson hours, curriculum, and face-to-face time. Student activity is analyzed descriptively percentage. Study results were analyzed with N-gain and quantitative. Attitudes are analyzed descriptively percentage. Student  activities show average is active criteria (77%). Study results achieve classical mastery (86.5%). The mean N-gain of students in both classes included moderate criteria (0.44 and 0.40). Students attitudes toward psychotropic and addictive abuse show very high criteria (92% and 86%). Study results with attitudes toward psychotropic abuse and addictive substances have strong correlations (0.705 and 0.610). Teachers and students respond positively and well. Conclusion: bioedutainment strategy with role playing has a positive effect on the activity, study results and attitudes of students and there is a significant relationship between study results and student attitudes.

Abstract

Zygomycota and Ascomycota Classesare classified as the Fungi Kingdom groups It is needed to hold a practicum activity in the fungi grouping learning. Nevertheless, the tools and materials at school to observe the fungi are inadequate. Therefore, it is necessary to hold a fungi practicum which accompanied with a students worksheet that is able to develop the students’ science process skills so that the teachers and the students are able to achieve the learning objectives of the Fungi material. This study aims to analyze the students science process skills after the application of guided-inquiry learning model in the fungi practicum activity. The study used pre-experimental design method with one-shot case study design as the research method. Furthermore, the students’ understanding level is obtained based on the results of the students skill score, such as the ability to observe and to conduct an experiment which able to reach the defined completeness criteria. The result shows that the observation skills score of class X.MIA.1 and class X.MIA.3 were 85% and 91% and the experimental skills score of class X.MIA 1 and class X.MIA.3 were 85.7% and 88.5%. The understanding of fungi material is classified successful in Fungi practicum learning activity due to the classical completeness that reaches above 85%.
