Abstract

This research aims to optimize the learning activities and test the effectiveness of the use of flash media microscope in biology lab. Research using a design research and development that includes four stages, namely field observations, the implementation of media development, media validation, and implementation of the pilot (small scale and large scale). Small-scale trials were conducted at SMAN 5 Magelang class XI MIA-1 and large-scale trials were conducted at SMAN 5 Magelang XI MIA-1 and XI MIA-3 classes. Validation results from media experts and microscopes experts were 82% and 69%, respectively, with good criteria. The results of the small-scale trials showed a positive response to the flash media using the microscope, while the large-scale trials showed results of 82% of students with criteria skilled in using a microscope. The result of questionnaire of student responses shows very good criteria to flash media learning of microscope usage and good on all aspect asked, while teacher give very good response. Based on the results of research and discussion concluded that the use of microscope flash media developed feasible in optimizing the activities of Biology practicum.

Abstract

Natural Science is the study of the phenomenon that occurs in the student environment. Directly oriented learning in the student environment makes learning meaningful because students can see the real object being studied. Based on the observations in SMP Negeri 5 Pekalongan, learning activity has not utilized the environment as a learning source. Whereas the location of the school near the appropriate learning sources to study environmental pollution material. Student learning outcomes are less than optimal and students tend to be passive. Therefore, variations are made in the learning by utilizing the Kalibanger River as a source of learning environmental about environment pollution. The method used in this research is quasi experimental design type nonequivalent control group design. Determination of the sample is done by purposive sampling technique and used as experimental class is class VII F and control class is class VII D. Student retrieval data using test instrument, while student activity is taken from observation sheet and questionnaire. Learning result data obtained by posttest value is higher than pretest. Increased learning results occur due to learning activities undertaken by students. Recapitulation of experimental class student activity is 87,9% which belong to very active criteria. Based on the results of t-test calculation obtained t-count = 3.323> 2.040 so H1 accepted, it can be concluded learning Kalibanger river utilization as a source of learning about environmental pollution can increase the activity and learning outcomes of students of SMP Negeri 5 Pekalongan.

Abstract

PP RI no. 66 of 2010 article 53B (1) and Permendiknas no. 34 of 2010 article 3 (1) state that a higher education unit which is organized by the government is required to recruit new undergraduate students through a national admission of at least 60% of the number of new students who are accepted for each Study Program. The objective of this study was to analyze the differences in student learning outcomes according to the admission line of Biology Education Program students of FMIPA UNNES. This study used sequential explanatory design combination method. The population of this study was the students of Biology Education Study Program of FMIPA UNNES class of 2013 to 2016. The quantitative samples were chosen using total sampling method and the qualitative samples were chosen using purposive sampling method. In this study, the students learning outcomes were in the form of GPA. The data of this study were collected using document study method, questionnaire, and interview. The data were then analyzed using descriptive technique percentage, two way anova, regression, and qualitative analysis of Miles & Huberman (Sugiyono, 2011). The results showed that the average of students GPA of SNMPTN was 3.32, the average of students’ GPA of SBMPTN was 3.29, and the average of students’ GPA of SM was 3.25. The sig value in the two way anova test to examine the difference of GPA according to the admission line is caused by the level of family, campus, society environment, and learning motivation were 0.834, 0.322, 0.810, and 0,246> 0.00 respectively which means there was no significant differences in GPA among students of the three admissions line. The result of R2 value on the regression analysis showed that the most contributing variable to the GPA were the campus environment (86.1%), the learning motivation (82.2%), the family environment (76.7%), and the least was the level of community environment (74.8%). It can be concluded that there is no significant difference of students learning outcomes according to student admission line in Biology Education Program of FMIPA UNNES caused by the level of family, campus, society, and students motivation.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes of human reproductive system material under passing grade become an obstacle for students to achieve the learning objectives. Some students are not enthusiastic about human reproductive system material because it is considered difficult. Students still do not understand related to the structure and function of reproductive organ systems, abnormalities and hormones. Based on the problems above then it takes a learning to attract attention or enthusiasm of students. Media is one of the important factors of teaching and learning process. Use of media aims to facilitate teachers in convey learning so students become more easily understand the material. The purpose of this research is to analyze the usage effectiveness of video and mama card in Biology lesson of human reproductive system material. This research used True Experimental Design with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The analysis of data includes quantitative data to student activities and learning outcomes, then descriptive analysis to teacher’s opinion and students’ opinion. The result of this research showed that student activities and student learning outcomes in the experimental class is higher than the control class. Teacher and students gave positive reviews to the learning process. Based on the result of research, it was concluded that use of video and mama card was effective in increasing student activities and student learning outcomes in human reproductive system material.

Abstract

Technology growing rapidly because technological development is required in all aspects of humanlife. Biotechnology is one of the branch of biology that is constantly evolving. Health andpharmaceutical biotechnology is one of the biotechnology which became the spotlight of the world.Biotechnology is part of science that commences from curiosity. One of curiosity type is epistemiccuriosity (EC). Epistemic curiosity contribute to give problem solving for the appearing issue. Thisneed higher order thinking. Higher order thinking need good cognitive understanding. The purpose ofthis study is to: 1) describe the epistemic curiosity (EC) Biology’ student to the development of healthand pharmaceutical biotechnology, 2) analyzing the correlation of epistemic curiosity (EC) andcognitive ability of biology’ student in health and pharmaceutical biotechnology. This researchincludes descriptive correlative with the research data is a cognitive understanding and EC ofbiology’ student. Cognitive understanding and EC data taken using a questionnaire (i-d scalecuriosity) and problem (the quiz). Average of EC scores is 26,1. A descriptive analysis of the averageEC is of 65.3% (high category). The average of students cognitive understanding is 38.8%. (lowcategory). Quantitative correlation of cognitive understanding and EC was 0,208 (weak category).Qualitative correlation of cognitive understanding and EC was J category, that have a high EC butlow cognitive understanding.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the variety of fern species in Curug Lawe area of Techno-forestry Park, Petungkriyono; then develop the catalog, investigate the validity and analyze the effectiveness of the catalog as Biology learning source for senior high school students. The study was done in Curug Lawe Petungkriyono as exploration place and SMA N 1 Petungkriyono for validity test. The design of catalog used Sugiyono (2012) and research method for effectiveness test is One-Shoot Study Case. The object of study is all fern plants found through the way to Curug Lawe. The research result shows that percentage of catalog validity by expert and biology teacher is 94.5%. The percentage of students’ classical completeness of students’ learning results is 78%, while percentage of incomplete students is 22%. The mean of students’’ response questionnaire after the learning is 83% with very good criteria. Generally, teacher and students give positive and very good response toward the applied learning. The conclusion of this research is Pteridophyte Catalog is proper and effective to be used as Biology learning source for senior high school students.
