Abstract

The preliminary study gives the result that the Football School (SSB) trainers in Medan City do not yet have adequate long passing and shooting skill measuring instruments. They rely on observation only in assessing their students’ achievement. Assessment that is based on observation has many weaknesses, one of which is the high element of subjectivity. This study aims to produce instruments to measure the studentss long passing and shooting skills. This is a research and development study. The authors used experimental methods in this study through the following steps, (a) draft development, (b) validation, (c) small group tryouts, and (d) extended group trials. The small group tryouts were conducted three times and the extended group trial was administered once. In the extended group trial the authors involved 150 male students of 8 SSB. Based on factorial analysis (validity test) and test and retest (reliability test), the result is that the long passing and shooting instruments are valid (P <000) and reliable (R> 0.6). Thus, this measuring instrument is very good for measuring long passing and shooting skills of the SSB students.

Abstract

TEFL in Indonesia is conducted on the framework of improving student’s cognitive and psycho-motoric but less in affective activity. The shift from foreign language to multicultural language (Honna, 2000, 2003) is to build intercultural awareness (2008, p.72). In school pedagogic activity is designed to accessing its modes of implementation, its operation and its outcome (Leung, 1993). It emphasizes on the process thus reflection is beyond the focus. Textbook is made on the basis of CLT with the aim to teach communicative competence (Richards, 2006, p.2) by implementing Task Based Approach focusing on creating kinds of interactional processes in the classroom (2006, p.30). ICC is the goal of TEFL therefore an innovation is made to develop student’s ability to be socially and culturally competent speakers (Byram, 2001). The findings show that pedagogic task based adopted authentic as well as created situation and cultural values can boost student’s ICC.

Abstract

Masked performance depicting various characters in Panji stories from Java is called Mask Puppet Dance-Drama (Dramatari Wayang Topeng or DWT for short). Panji stories consist of a collection of stories from the Kediri Kingdom themed heroism and love with Panji Asmarabangun and Dewi Sekartaji as the main characters. As the nation's cultural successor, many younger generations have not known the DWT performance. This can threaten the preservation of DWT as one of the nation's cultural heritages to be preserved. This study aimed to examine the process of the DWT inheritance in Asmarabangun Mask Art Gallery (Padepokan Seni Topeng Asmarabangun) through oral tradition. This research was based on the theory of social construction in which a process of meaning done by each individual to himself consists of the process of externalization, internalization, and objectivization. This study used a qualitative method. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentary studies. The data were analyzed using Milles & Huberman's theory of data reduction, presentation and verification. The result of data analysis shows that oral tradition in DWT inheritance process occurs institutionally which requires a process of meaning making by every individual to himself which consists of externalization, internalization and objectivization process. In the process, people can learn about the material either directly or indirectly. People get information and interact to achieve certain goals. The tradition is inherited through the process of seeing, listening, and doing.

Abstract

Kecapi is one of the nation's cultural products that is very popular in almost all communities in Indonesia. As a region that has various types of traditional harp (kecapi), South Sulawesi should be able to maintain the instrument in order to remain exist in the community. The government has made policies on local cultural arts in the form of curriculum by raising the local culture as one of the teaching materials that must be offered to the students. The process of traditional kecapi instruction in South Sulawesi is still using modern methods of music theory as a supporter of traditional kecapi instruction. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the development of kitoka as a form of innovation in order to answer the challenges related to the limitations of traditional string instruments especially in the learning process of music in South Sulawesi. In this research there are two types of data, i.e. primary data obtained from observation and direct interview with informants and secondary data as the supplement of the primary data obtained through literature study and documentation. The data that have been obtained through literature study, observation, interview and documentation are divided into categories and analyzed in order to be able to classify them and relate one class of data and the others. The result of this study is that the kitoka musical instrument is developed through innovation by looking at some weaknesses both in the procurement and the visual design of the traditional kecapi. This is certainly able to solve the problem of teaching kecapi in school without having to leave the traditional harp as a cultural product that must be preserved. Kitoka is part of a traditional harp developed on the basis of the needs of the people especially the popular community as it is today.

The results show that (1) the character values taught in PAUD KB Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyah Cirebon City adopt the kinship system which is one of the local cultural centers in Cirebon City. The local wisdom of the communities in Cirebon is derived from SGJ, especially the sayings of SGJ which imply piety, belief, discipline, wisdom, policy, decency, manners and social life; (2) the character education management that is based on the local wisdom includes planning, implementation, and supervision; (3) the supporting factors in the implementaton of the character education management include the government support, human resources, facilities, programmed activities, support of school residents, parents, and surrounding communities. The inhibiting factors include limited control of the school after the students are off school and the influence of the media. The local wisdom based character education is planned with reference to the school vision, i.e. "Forming a smart, good, skilled, and noble learner”. Character education can be integrated into every subject and linked to the context of everyday life. As a supervisor, the principal has supervised and guided the teacher periodically during each turn of the school year. The learning method that is based on local wisdom is in accordance with the reference of the Directorate of Early Childhood Education. The results of this study can be used as a reference for preparing and planning the management of local-based character education in early childhood education, and providing input for PAUD managers in developing and implementing the model of planning, implementation, and supervision of character education that is based on local wisdom.
