Abstract

This study aims to describe the student's and lecturer's needs related to the improvement of learning quality of academic writing; the level of acceptability of multiple intelligence learning model which is oriented to the students’ participation (KMP) on the content substance, thestructure flexibility of modeldesign, and the effectiveness of learning model of multiple intelligenceswhich is oriented to student's participation on the improvement of theiracademic writing. To test the fit models or hypothetical model conceptually and theoretically, this study was supported by empirical data and instruments with students as respondents. The data was then analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) by Lisrel program. Teachers as respondents instrument was analyzed through factor analysis using SPSS for windows. The development of the model used descriptive, evaluative, and experimental models, and also quantitative test using structural equation modeling (SEM) by Lisrel program. The output of the research result is a draft model of KMP validated by a team of experts with the average score of 3.70 (being able to be usedwith minor revision). KMP model is rated as a good model (4:02) viewed from its comprehensiveness, practicality, and economy. The analysis of appropriateness hypothetical test between models and data fields based on the implementation of data shows that a) all variables seem to have value (λ)> 0.3; b) Chi - Square = 0.61, df = 1, ρ - value = 0:43 (> 0.05); c) RMSEA is 0.00 (<0:08); and d) GFI = 0.99 (> 0.90). The result of analysis shows that there is compatibility between KMP model and the field data. The average of the ability of critical-creative thinking of experiment 3 for the control group is 68.31, while the experimental group is 74.88. It means that the treatment of KMP influences the learning process. The result of tcount = 15 066> t table = 1.98. The difference of the average score is sated significant and proved effective in improving the ability of academic writing.

Abstract

The unemployment in Indonesia is high and it continues to threaten the world. Several factors which cause the educated unemployment are: (1) curriculum plan cannot be fully implemented as an actual curriculum; (2) curriculum focuses more on the hard skills and less on soft skills development. From the preliminary research stage (method R & D), the factual implementation of curriculum management was obtained. The subjects were chairman of the Program, lecturers, and students from thepurposively selected object. Data collection techniques were observation and interview guidelines. The validity of the data used triangulation instruments and resources. The data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results obtain: (1) management curriculum has been implemented using the four functions of management, and the result is not optimal yet, (2) it has not been fully based on CBC and KKNI, (3) there is limited time to evaluate the implementation and action in the curriculum management, (4) it has not been fully oriented to the development of soft skills and SCL, (5) there is balance between hard skills and soft skills and it has someprogrammed extracurricular activities, (6) there is nolearningimplementation and thedesigned SKL is in accordance with SKK. In conclusion, the educated unemployment and the readiness of Indonesia to enter the single market of MEA 2015 can be done through: (1) curriculum managementdevelopment and soft skills of students, (2) creating appropriate interrelation between SKL with SKK. In order to achieve both goals, conducting concrete steps are necessary.

The study employs a Research and Development (R & D) without implementing the whole steps of R&D. The research begins with the preliminary step and then continues with FGD I in order to fix model I, then the model I become model II, and then model II ended by FGD II to be the model II which is validated by the experts and practitioners upon its feasibility. These procedures are conducted considering the research finding related to a policy change is hard to be implemented. The results of the study show that one validator assesses the model as “quite feasible to be implemented”. Four validators conclude that the model is “feasible to be implemented”. Five validators categorize the model as “very feasible to be implemented”. The measurement of the model validity is 84.6%. Therefore, the competency test model " 10 months online” is very feasible to be implemented. This outcome is well-embraced by the FGD participants. Based on interviews researchers with industry the findings of this research  was  good and the model is easy to implement. Likewise, internal assessors opinion this model is a new innovation and feasible. This study concludes that the competency test model of "10 months online " infeasible and provides a great opportunity for the industry to be involved in assessing the competency test because it is administered on Saturday and Sunday within 10 months. The involvement of industry world is expected to have a positive impact, i.e. the graduates are easier to get a job.
