Abstract

Fish mortality in the Bay of Lampung not only wild fish, but also fish farmed in cages, especially Ringgung Beach. One which caused by harmful algal abundance that occur was increased input contaminants by both natural and anthropogenic sources. This study aims to analyze the influence of harmful algal blooms (HABs) the amount and frequency of fish mortality in cage Ringgung Lampung Bay. The study was conducted at three research stations based KJA density. The results of the study found 33 species of phytoplankton, 14 species have potential as HABs can cause the death of fish. The highest abundance was kind Cochlodinium that reach 63.738 cells/liter. Phytoplankton diversity index value with the lowest value occurred at station 3 on June 19, 2013 ie the date of 0705. The highest phytoplankton diversity values occurred at Station 2 on June 12, 2013 is 2,451. Uniformity values of phytoplankton in the waters of Beach Ringgung obtained in the high category with a value above 0.5 or close to 1, which indicates that the spread of the individual any kind of relatively evenly. Except at station 3 which has a relatively low value (0.228 on June 19, 2013, 0291 on June 26, 2013, and 0446 on July 3, 2013). Effect of HABs on the fishing mortality rate is indicated by regression analysis. Correlation coefficient at station 1 shows the value of 0.5208. While on station 2 shows 0.6937. Harmful algal blooms shown to affect mortality rates of fish in floating net Ringgung Beach. They have triggered reduced oxygen levels in the water that could potentially cause the death of wild fish and farmed in floating net Keywords: Dead fish, harmful phytoplankton, floating net

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know whether soaking of upland rice seed in citric acid solution  could  alleviate  subsequent  growth  of  seedling  under  aluminum  stress.  The experiment was conducted in plant physiologylaboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Science, Lampung University on January 2016, and implemented in2 x 3 factorial designs. Factor A was aluminum with two levels: 0 mM, 5 mM and factor B was Citric Acid with three levels: 0Mm, 5Mm, 10Mm. Variables in this research were shoot length, seedling fresh weight, relative water content, and shoot root ratio. Analysis of variance was conducted at 5% significant level. If   interaction factor A and B was not significant, main effect was determine with lsd test at 5% significant level, but if  significant simple effect was determine with F test at 5% significant level. The result showed that interaction beetwen aluminum and citric acid decreased the shoot length 16-31%. Aluminum decreased fresh weight of seedling 11%, relative water content 3%, and shoot root ratio decreased 15%. It was concluded that soaking upland rice seed in citric acid solution was not able to alleviate subsequent growth of seedling under aluminum stress. Keyword: citric acid, aluminum, upland rice, shoot length, seedling fresh weight

The experiment was conducted in Palm Nursery Polytechnic Lampung from July 2009 until April 2010., Designed in factorial randomized block design. The treatments consisted of 3 (three) factors. The first factor is the type of waste consisting of sugar cane waste (bagase) and empty fruit bunches (Tankos) palm oil. The second factor is the length of incubation of waste, consisting of 2 (two) and 3 (three) weeks. Factors to 3 (three) is the composition of media, namely: 1 (compost): 4 (ground); 1 (compost): 5 soil, and 1 (sand): 4 (ground) as a control. Each treatment was replicated 3 (three) times, each experimental unit consisted of two seeds. The results showed that the sugar agro waste (bagasse) effect on plant height is better than empty fruit bunches Palm Oil (Tankos); waste Incubation period 3 weeks performed better on the character of dry weight, ratio of crown root and seedling growth rate; Bagas incubated 3 weeks influential The best in plant height; media composition had no effect on the growth characteristics of oil palmseedlings in the main nursery. Abstract

Broiler is been developed anymal as a source of animal protein needs. Various feed additif given to broiler to spur additional growth as well as feed and medicine. One of the diseases that are immunosuppressed chickens is coccidiosis. Chickens infected with coccidiosis will show symptoms of diarrhea, emaciation and intestinal damage simultaneously, thus reducing the rate of growth in chickens. With the ability of anti-diarrhea and anti-inflammatory turmeric is expected to be an alternative for the treatment and prevention of coccidiosis in particular and general gastrointestinal disease in chickens. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of ginger are extracted with solvent water to the broiler performance infected by Eimeria maxima. The results showed that administration of turmeric extraction with ethanol can increase body weight gain, feed efficiency and lower feed conversion value is better than giving solvent extraction of turmeric with water. turmeric extraction with ethanol was not effect to blood diferentiation but decrease level of total cholesterol, trigliserida, HDL, dan LDL on serum Keywords: performance, broiler, Eimeria maxima, turmeric

Abstract

The quality and production of watermelon in Indonesia is low relatively. We introduced "ToPAS" (toping, pruning, arranging and selection), the innovation of cultivation technology in an effort to improve the quality and production of watermelon. Our study was conducted in State Polytechnic of Lampung yield trials from May~August 2014, and used 12 varieties of hybrid watermelons with randomized block design two factors. The results of variance analyses in "ToPAS" system showed that productivity of watermelon fruit (oval and round type) are higher compared with conventional cultivation systems. We suggested using "ToPAS" system in watermelon cultivation to improve the cultivation technology, increasing quality and production of watermelon fruit. “ToPAS” also suggested for watermelon breeding program.Key word : cultivation, production, ToPAS, watermelon

Abstract

The implementation of the selection that refers to the use of genetic parameter value might expect very effective help in accelerating the discovery of a superior genotypes in accordance with plant breeding program. Twelve promissing lines and check varieties of soybean were planted at KP Sitiung Dharmasraya on two seasons namely MT1 from August-November 2009 and MT2 from December to March 2010. Fertilization with a dose of 75 kg of urea was 125 kg SP36 and 75kg of KCl/ha, the plot size is 2.80 m x 4.0 m. A randomized complete block design with four replication. Variable measured were agronomic characters, yield component and yield. The results the experiment indicated that heritability of all the characters were high (50,43% - 95,98%). Only heritability of plant high at MT1 and yield both environments was medium. The value of guess heritabilitas high on productive branch character per plant and pods per plant is supported by genetic advances and coefficient of average genetic variation is quite high and high, thus both these characters can be reference selection criteria to get productive branches per plant and pods per plant.
