Abstract

Broiler farming always use feed additives commercial to improve productivity of broiler, but feed additives commercial have negative effect for consument. Feed additive should have ability as an antibacterial. To minimize using commercial feed additive we have to find alternatives to optimize the use of roselle calyces. This experiment was conducted to knowing phenol content and antibacterial activity of red roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) calyces and purple roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) calyces and to determine the type of roselle calyces which have potential as feed additive candidate on broiler. The phenol content was conducted using visible spectrophotometry method with Folin Ciocalteau reagen, and the antibacterial activity using agar well method for measuring clearing zone againt Staphylocccus aureus and Escherichia coli. The results showed that difference in solvent temperature (300C, 600C and 900C) of red and purple roselle calyces didn?t affect the phenol content, but the extract 10% of purple roselle calyces containing phenol content higher than the extract of red roselle calyces. The difference of solvent temperature didn?t affect the antibacterial activity, but extracts 10% of purple roselle calyces have antibacterial activity higher than red roselle calyces. Purple roselle calyces more potencial as feed additive. Keywords : Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) calyces, phenol content, antibacterial activity

Abstract

Broiler is been developed anymal as a source of animal protein needs. Various feed additif given to broiler to spur additional growth as well as feed and medicine. One of the diseases that are immunosuppressed chickens is coccidiosis. Chickens infected with coccidiosis will show symptoms of diarrhea, emaciation and intestinal damage simultaneously, thus reducing the rate of growth in chickens. With the ability of anti-diarrhea and anti-inflammatory turmeric is expected to be an alternative for the treatment and prevention of coccidiosis in particular and general gastrointestinal disease in chickens. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of ginger are extracted with solvent water to the broiler performance infected by Eimeria maxima. The results showed that administration of turmeric extraction with ethanol can increase body weight gain, feed efficiency and lower feed conversion value is better than giving solvent extraction of turmeric with water. turmeric extraction with ethanol was not effect to blood diferentiation but decrease level of total cholesterol, trigliserida, HDL, dan LDL on serum Keywords: performance, broiler, Eimeria maxima, turmeric

Abstract

THE  UTILIZATION OF FERMENTATION PRODUCT AND CURCUMA IN RATION ON BROILER PERFORMANCE, AND INCOME OVER FEED AND CHICK COST. The aim of this study was to investigate the utilization level of fermentation product combined with curcuma in ration on broiler performace, and income over feed and chick cost (IOFCC). Completely Randomized Design with 4x2x2 factorial arrangement was used in this research. The first factor were levels of fermentation product in ration (0, 10, 20, dan 30%), the second factor were curcuma addition in ration (0% and 2,5%), and the third factor were vaccine applications (without and with vaccine application). The results showed that there were no interaction among the utilization levels of fermentation product, the addition of curcuma, and vaccine applications on broiler performance. The results also indicated that 10% utilization of fermentation product in broiler ration could increase broiler performance (weight gain and feed conversion). 10% utilization of Fermentation product and addition of 2.5% curcuma in ration could produce higher IOFCC compared to control diet. Utilization of fermentation product, curcuma addition in ration, and vaccine application did not affect ration and water consumption. Key words: fermentation product, curcuma, broiler performance, IOFCC.

Abstract

Sumateran wild boars have been super abundant in Sumateran forest. In Indonesia, this wildlife condition has led to the exploitation for commercial purpose. The high number of Sumateran wild boars population increases wild boar hunting resulting in an abundant availability of wild boar meat in the food market with extremely cheap price. The macroscopic similarity of wild boar meat and beef has prompted the local people to abuse this situation by selling wild boar meat in traditional market as beef. Based on annual record from Cilegon Class II Quarantine Office in 2014, there were nine smuggling cases or a total of 21.556 kg of wild boar meat smuggling effort that were prevented by Cilegon Quarantine officers. The number of food safety concerns related to smuggling of wild boar or counterfeiting beef with wild boar is a very detrimental condition for consumers, especially consumers in traditional markets. The checking of genuineness or validity of food products is an important effort to protect people from consuming unhealthy food and to indicate whether the food is halal or not. Studies of meat detection should be continuously developed as an effort to protect consumers. Genetic method is the most specific and sensitive method to check food ingredients authenticity by detecting the presence of genetic material or deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). It results from the specific character of the structure of DNA particles and the possibility of using the information included in them. The most frequent loci used for species identificationin phylogenetics and biodiversity studies are mitochondrial cytochrome b (cyt b).Genetic method is the most specific and sensitive tool for analyzing the authenticity of food ingredients in a molecular level by means of detecting the presence of genetic material or deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). One of the various methods could be used to detect genetic material is polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Specifically, one of such method frequently used in food industry to observe animal derived product fabrication is PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). PCR-RFLP is based on the comparison of the bands profile generated after certain enzymes digest the DNA target. PCR-RFLP is appropriate for meat testing due its ability in exploiting sequence variation in designated DNA region that allows species differentiation even from closely related species through DNA fragment restrictions selected by suitable restriction enzyme. PCR-RFLP is advantageous since it is simple, cheaper, and easier to be adjusted for routine big-scale studies such as surveillance program.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth of broiler chickens and analyze the feasibility of broiler farming with the addition of liquid organic supplements. Liquid organic supplements (SOC) or also called probiotics contain Lactobacillus sp, Azetobacter sp, Basiluss sp, vitamins, and minerals. SOC can increase antibodies, reduce stress levels, suppress the onset of disease, help stimulate appetite, and accelerate the growth of broiler chicken. Broilers are divided into 4 treatments female broilers without SOC, male broilers without SOC, female broilers with the addition of SOC, and treatment of male broilers with the addition of SOC. Based on the results and discussion the highest PBB is obtained by male chicken with SOC. Feasibility analysis shows that all treatments are feasible, B/C (3.11) and R/C (3.18) values of treatments added by SOC are higher than treatments without SOC.Keywords: Broiler, Feasibility Analysis, SOC

Abstract

The availability of commercial feed raw materials is a limiting factor that causes the price of commercial feed for broilers to be expensive. Therefore it is necessary to use additional feed or alternative feed with good nutritional content, available throughout the year at a relatively affordable and acessible. Pineapple waste is an alternative feed that is cheap, easy to obtain and available all year round. The weakness of pineapple waste is that the crude fiber content is quite high, but with fermentation technology this problem can be overcome. The research analyze the effect of fermented pineapple (Ananas comosus L.Merr) waste in feed on broiler productivity. The research was conducted from November to December 2019 at the Lampung State Polytechnic cattle stable. The experiment was designed with two treatments. The first treatment (P0 = control) of commercial feed without TLBNF. Second treatment (P1) Commercial Feed 92% + 8% TLBNF. The treated feed was given at the beginning of the third week to the end of the fourth week. The data for each variable was tested by means of the T- test. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that: The use of 8% fermented pineapple waste flour (TLBNF) in commercial feed does not affect feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion
