Jurnal Penelitian Pertanian Terapan is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes scientific articles from agricultural disciplines covering Plantation crops, Food crops and horticulture, food Technology, Agriculture biology and agribusiness. Articles published in the Journal of Applied Agriculture may be research results (original) and scientific review articles (review). Applied Journal of Agriculture is published by Research Unit and Community Service of Lampung State Polytechnic Society 3 edition one year, that is January, May, and September. JPPT was first published in January 2000. JPPT published a print version in 2007, then started the online version or Open Journal System (OJS) in 2014. Early online versions of JPPT or OJS editing have not yet been fully implemented online management and are beginning to make improvements Web Journal view and journal cover and OJS governance management on Volume 2 No. 2 of 2017. JPPT has been indexed on Google Scholar and Garuda IPI by 2015, and by 2017 it has indexed SINTA and registered DOAJ and Crossref in the same year. We accept submissions from all over Indonesia. All submitted articles will not be published elsewhere, original and not considered for other publications.

Abstract

Rice is a staple food that is very dominant for Indonesia. Production of rice in 2014 asmany as 70,85 million tons of milled rice, 0,61% lower than production in 2013. Oneway to increase production is the use of high yielding varieties. Polinela have toassemble ten new rice lines Pandan wangi species which have superior appearance.The research goal is to test the potential yield and quality of rice ten new rice strains.The study was conducted in Polinela for 6 months. The study was conducted usingRandomized Completely Block Design ( RCBD ).The treatment consisted of ten strainsof rice, is repeated three times. The variables measured were (1) dry milled grainyield per hectare; (2) the levels of amylose and amylopectin. Qualitative variablesmeasured were the texture and the smell of ricewith organoleptic method. Quantitativedata were analyzed by analysis of variance, if there is a difference between thetreatment continued with Test Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) on the real levelof 0.05. Heritability of quantitative variables were observed calculated to estimatewhether the variable-variable controlled bygenetic factors or environment?The resultsshowed the new rice lines Polinela assemblies have a range of potential outcomes ofmilled rice ( GKG ) between 6.47 to 9.79 tonnes/ha,amylose content is low tomoderate, very fluffier texture until fluffier rice.Keywords: yield potential, new rice strains

Abstract

This research was conducted in vitro in the laboratory. Studies conducted in the Laboratory of Bacteriology Department of Plant Pests and Diseases of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Brawijaya, on the effectiveness of the bacteria Bacillus cereus and Bacillus megaterium as biological pesticides controlling Spodoptera litura. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the bacteria Bacillus sp as biological control. Effectiveness pesticide was measured by testing the incubation period and mortality in larvae of S. litura instar 3. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), conducted observations every 6 hours until the larvae dead. The results showed that the percentage of mortality of S. litura reached 94.66% compared to the control, while the incubation time of the bacteria B. cereus cause disease until 29.84 hours. B. cereus and B. megaterium have the ability to incubate third instar larvae of S. litura up to 29.84 hours and caused the death of larvae up to 94.66%. Abstract

An experiment was done at Cage Rabbit Trial and Laboratory of Animal Husbandry, Departement of Animal Husbandry, The State of Politechnic Lampung. The first experiment began in 10th until 30th July 2010. The second experiment began 27th August until 15 September 2010.The first experiment were conducted to know some treatments to made cassava leaf meal silage. The second experiment to know dry matter, crude protein, and crude fibre digestible on using of the cassava leaf meal silage in male local rabbit. The treatment and method two steps by used: In experiment 1, P1= 0% corn meeal, P2= 5% corn meal, P3= 10% corn meal, and P4=15% corn meal. In experiment 2, These used 16 male local rabbit. The rabbit were placed randomizely in battery cage. Parameter measured were : dry matter, crude protein , and crude fibre digestile. The nutrient digestibility determined by Harris (1983). The result of this experiment showed that ensilage processing increased quality of nutrien conten and its digestibility on local rabbit.. Abstract

Sweet bread is a very popular food in Indonesia and the quality is largely determined by the filler used. Today, the bread is very varied filler that are the fruit aroma to chopped meatballs. The meatballs as a filler of sweet bread can only self life for no longer than 2 days, therefore it needs a preservation effort. One of technical preservation was application of liquid smoke. The research objective was to characterize of the meatballs as filler and of liquid smoke of coconut cell and to know the effect of concentration of liquid smoke to self life of sweet bread filled meatballs in storage. The results showed that dipping the meatballs in a liquid smoke was lowered taste, but only slightly affected the color, surface mucus, texture, and preference until the third day. The higher concentration of liquid smoke was the lower of total microbes in the meatball during storage. Liquid smoke was not advisable as a preservative in bread balls for sweet bread filler, because the concentration of smoke liquid 2% only decreased the bread taste. Abstract

Broiler farming always use feed additives commercial to improve productivity of broiler, but feed additives commercial have negative effect for consument. Feed additive should have ability as an antibacterial. To minimize using commercial feed additive we have to find alternatives to optimize the use of roselle calyces. This experiment was conducted to knowing phenol content and antibacterial activity of red roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) calyces and purple roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) calyces and to determine the type of roselle calyces which have potential as feed additive candidate on broiler. The phenol content was conducted using visible spectrophotometry method with Folin Ciocalteau reagen, and the antibacterial activity using agar well method for measuring clearing zone againt Staphylocccus aureus and Escherichia coli. The results showed that difference in solvent temperature (300C, 600C and 900C) of red and purple roselle calyces didn’t affect the phenol content, but the extract 10% of purple roselle calyces containing phenol content higher than the extract of red roselle calyces. The difference of solvent temperature didn’t affect the antibacterial activity, but extracts 10% of purple roselle calyces have antibacterial activity higher than red roselle calyces. Abstract

This study aimed to (1) determined the effect of BA concentration on the growth of banana seedlings origin hump cleavage. (2) determined the effect of different origin banana weevil seedling growth and tuber production of tillers. (3) determined the effect of BA concentration on the growth of seedlings and saplings of origin hump hump production. This research has been carried out in January 2013 to April 2013 in the Integrated Field Laboratory, University of Lampung, Bandar Lampung. The design of the experiment using a randomized block design with 3 replications were once created as a test group. Grouping is done based on the size of the hump and time of observation. Arranged in a factorial design of treatment (4 x 2) consisting of two factors; The first factor is the concentration of benzyladenine (BA) consists of 4 levels of concentration are: 0, 50, 100, and 150 ppm. The second factor is the hump that comes from plants that have been producing, and tubers of plants are still puppies. The results showed: (1). Use of BA with a concentration of 50, 100 and 150 ppm had no significant effect on all the variables of observation. (2). Type tuber production yield better growth than puppies hump seen from the variable leaf length, root length, leaf width, number of roots, and the girth so it better be made for seedlings compared with seedling tubers. (3) Pemberian BA with various concentrations of either the production or hump hump tillers showed no difference in the growth of shoots. Abstract

This study aims to determine the condition of the supply chain broccoli in the district ofBandung Lembang district west to approach food supply chain networks ( FSCN ). Thisresearch will be carried out in the CV . Yan's Fruits and Vegetable in Lembang district ,West Bandung regency, West Java. This study requires an approach to qualitative andquantitative methods for treating primary and secondary data . To analyze the supply chainqualitative and quantitative data required by the framework of the Food Supply ChainNetworking (FSCN) of Lambert and Cooper (2000) as modified by Vorst (2006).Results from this study is the condition of supply chain broccoli in Lembang district WestBandung regency based approach is the Food Supply Chain Networks as seen from thetarget supply chain, the structure of the supply chain, the entity supply chain, supply chainmanagement, resource supply chain, and business processes of supply chain is alreadyintegrated well.Keywords: Broccoli, FSCN, Supply Chain

Abstract

Role of cassava in the national economy continued to decline because it is not a priority commodity. As a result, crop acreage is declining and productivity did not increase significantly. This situation also occurred in West Sumatra Province. The cause is not yet precise technology to increase the income of cassava farmers and the diversity of the community's ability to adjust the pattern that has been owned by the available land resources. Meanwhile, demand for cassava will continue to increase along with the continued rise and soaring fuel prices (fuel) in the world market for cassava is one source of bio-ethanol to substitute a premium. This article contains about the problems of cassava and technological support for the development of cassava in West Sumatra. The methodology of writing a book study (literature) on cassava commodity that comes from books, proceedings, journals, papers and others. As a result, the development of cassava in West Sumatra to be directed mainly on dry land agroecosystem. Based on the type of climate and land type, almost all areas in West Sumatra has the potential to be developed as a regional center for cassava production.To improve cassava production strategies are needed, among other things: (1) The addition of harvest area, and (2) Intensification of quality improvement. Addition of harvest area include: (a) opening of a new land, (b) multiple cropping, and (c) increase harvest index. While improving the quality of intensification can be done with the application of several alternative technologies in cultivation, among others: (1) high yielding varieties, (2) preparation of seedlings, (3) land preparation, (4) planting, (5) fertilization, (6) plant maintenance; and (7) harvest. Results of analysis of farming cassava variety Darul Hidayah show farmers the benefits of Rp. 34,110,000, - for 12 months and R/C ratio value = 3.46. Abstract

Kredit Ketahanan Pangan dan Energi (KKP-E) is a perfecting program credit form Kredit Ketahanan Pangan (KKP) whiich done in 2007, the purpose is to help farmer in farming capital. This research showed that the bigest used of KKP-E is in sugar cane farming, then in crop and livestock. Nevertheless, the distribution of the credit is blocked by smooting time to farmer, especially for horticulture KKP-E which will block season. Beside standarad condition which fund is distribution of credit come from banking (executing). Banking has 5 C (Collateral, Caracter, Capacity, Capitan and Condition), and gentioneraly the most difficult condition is colleteral. The spead of farmer as debitur has not achieved all around and only limited to farmer in area which is organised in farmer group organization. So that, it is suggested to have socialization activity together among agency and banking ti ditribute KKP-E to farmer/farmer group. Keywords: KKP – E credit, performance

Abstract

The studies of row planting system “legowo” to the increased productivity of lowland rice. This research aims to determine the best planting system in order to obtain optimum growth and yield. The experiment site in lowland farmers Piruko Sitiung, Dharmasraya district, West Sumatra, from May to September 2009. The research using a randomized block design (RBD) with 4 replications and 5 treatments planting systems, namely: (A) the Row “Legowo” 2:1, (B) the Row “Legowo” 4:1, (C) the Row “Legowo” 6:1, (D) the Row “Legowo” 8:1, and (e) Without the Row “Legowo” Control. Fertilizers are used ; 200 kg Urea, 100 kg SP36, and 50 kg KCl/ha. Urea and KCl are given three times with brocasting system at 1, 4 , and 7 weeks after planting (wap), while the SP36 is given at 1 wap combined with Urea and KCl. The seeds used Batang Piaman variety planted three seedling per hill, spacing of 25x25 cm . Data were collected on; plant height , maximum number of tillers/hill, number of productive tiller/hill, yield components, and yield. The results showed that “legowo” row planting system significantly affect the agronomic component plants, except at plant height. Against the yield components and the results also showed a marked influence on the percentage of empty grains unless and 1000 grain weight. “Legowo” row planting system can increase the yield of dry grain harvest around 19.90 to 22%. This experiment suggests that in order to obtain optimum productivity of lawland rice is recommended to use of “Legowo” row planting system.
