Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in the viability of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) isolates on MRS medium supplemented with various concentrations molasses. Concentration variation molasis used as controls were 0%, 1%, 2% and 3%. Variation of time incubation on each of the media that is 0 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours. The viability of each isolate was viewed with the population of Log (cells/ml) which grow on the medium and the number of generations and time of generations. The results showed that the concentration molasses added to MRS affect the viability of LAB. Concentration of 1% makes LAB better viability than controls. Total population continues to increase at the end of the incubation with a yield of 1.17 generations in time 20.46 hours/generation. In contrast to controls, reduced population size at the end of the incubation so as not to produce a generation. LAB viability in addition molasses 2% and 3% live on 48 hours of incubation. This is indicated by the number of population increased at 48 hours of incubation, and then decreased at the end of incubation. The addition of concentration variation in the types of bacteria showed different viability. At B1 adding molasses 2% and 3% live on 48 hours of incubation and control can only live on a 24 hours incubation, whereas the B3, the control can remain alive at 48 hours of incubation. In contrast to the controls on B4 can survive on 48 hours of incubation, whereas the addition of 3% molasses can only live on a 24 hours incubation. Key words : Lactic Acid Bacteria/LAB, Molasses,  Viability

Abstract

South Kalimantan province is one of the potential locations for the development of food crops, especially rice. In line with the government especially the central government has tried in earnest to improve the performance of the agricultural development in the region is mainly to do with efforts to increase the harvested area, production, productivity of both rice crops, corn and soybeans. Aid funding through state funds and deconcentration assistance whose purpose is none other than the effort to reach. Fact shows that there are still any barriers, especially in terms of planning and implementation, especially regarding the budget allocation and the allocation of activities that still have not been synchronized. Abstract

The objective of the research was to know comparation of two strains of broiler performance when water kunyit of consumption. Level of water kunyit as treatmentwas 10 g/600 ml. Two strains of broiler were CP 707 unsexed and Lohmann unsexed. Every broiler strain consist of 100 Day Old Chicken (DOC). Experiment was designed with two treatments of strain broiler and each treatment had 15 replications. Each replication was 6 or 7 DOC. Comparison of data was analyzed by using t-student on signification 5% (Steel dan Torrie, 1993). Parameters measured were water consumption, feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion, and income over feed cost. Results showed the highest effect of kunyit water significant (P<0,05) of broiler performance of strain CP 707 on water consumption, feed intake, and body weight gain, but no significant effect on feed conversion, and income over feed cost. Broiler of strain CP 707 was the responsive to treated water kunyit of consumption which shown on its effect on performance. Keywords: water kunyit, performance, strain, broiler

Abstract

Production of kenaf fiber for industry mostly uses chemical fertilizers with synthetic dyes that will also cause health and environmental problems and adversely affect all life forms. Increased health and environmental concern make organic kenaf fiber production with natural dyes highly recommended for both handicrafts and for industrial scale because natural fertilizers and dyes are non-toxic, decomposable, and environmentally friendly. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of consumer preference to organic kenaf fiber with natural dyes. The study used a two-factor group randomized design with the first factor of organic kenaf fiber and a second factor of natural dye consisting of 3 levels. The research was repeated as many as 2 replications so that there were 6 experimental units. Variables observed by consumer's level of craft product from organic kenaf fiber with natural dye covering color, texture and odor tested. This test is done by Hedonic Test method, using questionnaire with untrained panelist (consumer) as many as 40 people with data obtained based on a panelist response using a hedonic scale was analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test. The results showed that there was no significant difference in consumer preferences for the color, texture and odor of organic kenaf fiber with various natural dyes.

Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in Indonesia commonly cultivated on land that is classified as marginal land such as soil type ultisol with a low fertility rate, so it is necessary to improve the quality of seeds with the use of arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi (AMF) and NPK fertilizers. This study aimed (1) to determine the most appropriate type of AMF for oil palm seedling, (2) to determine the dose of NPK fertilizeris best for the growth of oil palm seedlings, (3) to determine whether the response of oil palm seedling stobe determined by the type of NPK fertilizer, (4) to determine the best dose of NPK fertilizer for each type of AMF. Research compiled using factorial treatment design (6 x2) with 5 replications. The first factor is the type of mycorrhizal (M) which consists of 6 levels iem0 (without AMF), m1 (Entrophospora sp. Isolates MV 3 ), m2 (Entrophospora sp. Isolates MV12), m3 (Glomus sp. Isolates MV 4), m4 (Glomus sp. Isolates MV11), and m5 (Glomus sp. Isolates MV13). The second factoris the dose of NPK fertilizer (P) which consists of 2 level p1 (100% of the recommended dose), p2 (75% of the recommended dose). The similarity of variance between treatments were tested with Least Significant Differencetest (LSD) at 5% significance level . The results showed (1) All types of FMA being tested can increase the growth of oil palm seedlings compared without exception AMF Glomus sp. MV isolates 11, (2) dose of NPK fertilizer 100% of recommended doses produce the best growth of oil palm seedlings shown by the fresh weight of shoot, dry weight of shoot, fresh weight of root, dry weight of root, and leaf greenness level, (3) palm seedling growth response to AMF inoculationis not determined by a given dose of NPK fertilizer, (4) there is no optimum dose of NPK fertilizer for each type of AMF were used. Keywords :Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, dose NPK fertilize, oil palm seedling.

Abstract

The implementation of the selection that refers to the use of genetic parameter value might expect very effective help in accelerating the discovery of a superior genotypes in accordance with plant breeding program. Twelve promissing lines and check varieties of soybean were planted at KP Sitiung Dharmasraya on two seasons namely MT1 from August-November 2009 and MT2 from December to March 2010. Fertilization with a dose of 75 kg of urea was 125 kg SP36 and 75kg of KCl/ha, the plot size is 2.80 m x 4.0 m. A randomized complete block design with four replication. Variable measured were agronomic characters, yield component and yield. The results the experiment indicated that heritability of all the characters were high (50,43% - 95,98%). Only heritability of plant high at MT1 and yield both environments was medium. The value of guess heritabilitas high on productive branch character per plant and pods per plant is supported by genetic advances and coefficient of average genetic variation is quite high and high, thus both these characters can be reference selection criteria to get productive branches per plant and pods per plant.
