Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Senge’s Learning Organisation model within the context of Islamic boarding school (pesantren) management, with a specific focus on Pondok Pesantren Darunnajah Jakarta. Employing a qualitative case study methodology, data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, including institutional leaders, senior teachers, and administrators, supplemented by participant observation and document analysis over six months. The findings reveal that Darunnajah has effectively operationalised the five subsystems of Marquardt’s learning organisation framework: learning dynamics, organisational transformation, people empowerment, knowledge management, and technology application, while preserving its core Islamic identity. The pesantren demonstrates continuous learning through formal and non-formal pedagogical approaches, systematic organisational transformation from a traditional to a modern governance structure, strategic human resource empowerment through professional development and international partnerships, knowledge management through structured information dissemination, and technology integration across all educational levels. Currently operating 23 branch campuses across Indonesia, Darunnajah exemplifies how learning organisation principles can drive sustainable institutional expansion. The study concludes that the successful synthesis of Western organisational learning theory with Islamic educational philosophy at Darunnajah provides a replicable model for pesantren modernisation. This research contributes to the literature by bridging the gap between learning organisation theory developed in corporate settings and its application in faith-based educational institutions.

Abstract

Background: The worsening global environmental crisis requires a values-based approach that goes beyond conventional policy frameworks. In this context, Islamic ecotheology offers an ethical perspective relevant to the principles of sustainability. Research Objective: To identify publication trends, dominant theoretical frameworks, and patterns of integration between religious environmental ethics and sustainability practices in Islamic ecotheology literature. The method used was a systematic literature review (SLR) following PRISMA guidelines. A search was conducted through Scopus using nine keyword combinations, resulting in 847 initial records. After applying inclusion criteria (period 2015–2025, journals indexed Q1–Q4, topic relevance), 80 full articles were analyzed using bibliometric profiles and qualitative thematic synthesis with the Watase Uake system. The research findings show a dominance of qualitative methods (75%) and a bipolar geographical distribution between Muslim-majority developing countries and Western academic institutions. Thematic concentrations fall into four main clusters: theological concepts (44%), sustainability practices (35%), environmental ethics (25%), and interpretation of religious texts (19%). This research also identified important gaps, including the limited use of quantitative methods, minimal policy-practice linkages, and a lack of cross-religious comparative studies. In conclusion, Islamic ecotheology offers a transformational ethical framework for raising environmental awareness. Future research should focus on the development of standardized measurement instruments, policy-based research, and interfaith dialogue to enhance scientific rigor and practical impact.

Abstract

Pendidikan agama dan moral merupakan salah satu bagian dari pengembangan aspek perkembangan anak yang sering dikesampingkan. Nilai agama dan moral merupakan bagian dari pengembangan diri anak yang dimulai sejak usi dini. Pendidikan moral dilakukan untuk menjadikan peserta didik menjadi beradab dan mampu menjadi manusia yang dapat menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungannya. Namun pada kenyataannya, masih banyak siswa yang dijumpai melakukan perilaku menyimpang yang pada akhirnya muncul degradasi moral pada peserta didik. Sekolah akan benar-benar bermakna jika sudah menerapkan pendidikan moral kepada peserta didik secara totalitas. Pendidikan Agama Islam bagi anak usia dini juga sebagai sarana untuk menyiapkan peserta didik dalam mememahami, mengenal, bertakwa, mengimani ajaran agama, mengamalkan akhlak mulia beragama Islam dari sumber utamanya yaitu kitab suci Alquran dan hadist, melalui kegiatan pengajaran, pembimbingan dan latihan serta penggunaan pengalaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali praktik baik pembelajaran agama dan moral pada anak usia 5-6 tahun di Tadika Pasti Al-Mukmin, Malaysia. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan analisa data menggunakan teknik analisa data kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran agama dan moral diberikan kepada anak melalui pengenalan-pengenalan mengenai ciptaan Allah tentang alam dan seisinya. Kemudian dikenalkan ibadah terutama sholat, wudhu, dan doa sehari-hari. Juga diajarkan pembiasaan-pembiasaan yang bernuansa Islami agar terbentuk akhlak karimah. Menanamkan agama dan moral pada anak usia dini sangatlah penting sebab agama dan moral adalah pondasi utama dalam membentuk karakter anak yang bertujuan agar terciptanya manusia yang berakhlak mulia serta memberikan sang anak bekal saat menghadapi kehidupan di hari-hari berikutnya hingga ia dewasa.
