Abstract

Kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Nyata dan Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (KKN-PPL) Terpadu Universitas Negeri Makassar di Desa Jenetaesa, Kecamatan Simbang, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan partisipasi masyarakat dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan melalui program gotong royong. Permasalahan mitra adalah kurangnya kesadaran kolektif masyarakat terhadap pentingnya kebersihan lingkungan, yang mengakibatkan kondisi lingkungan desa kurang terawat. Solusi yang ditawarkan adalah program gotong royong terpadu, melibatkan warga desa dalam aktivitas kebersihan dan pengelolaan sampah. Metode kegiatan meliputi edukasi, penyuluhan, dan pelaksanaan gotong royong secara terjadwal. Hasil program ini menunjukkan peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat dalam kegiatan kebersihan, terciptanya lingkungan yang lebih bersih dan sehat, serta terbangunnya semangat kebersamaan di antara warga. Program ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan berbasis komunitas dapat menciptakan perubahan positif yang berkelanjutan

Abstract

Pengecekan dan Perbaikan Instalasi Rumah Warga Satu Rumah per Dusun adalah program kerja mahasiswa KKN-PPL Terpadu SMK Darul Ulum Amessangeng Angkatan 29 UNM Tahun 2024 yang ditujukan untuk membantu masyarakat Desa Tukamasea, Kecamatan Bantimurung, Kota Maros yang memiliki instalasi rumah dalam kondisi yang kurang layak. Selain itu, program kerja yang telah disusun dari hasil observasi dan saran yang masuk dalam kegiatan seminar proker, memiliki manfaat yaitu membantu masyarakat Desa Tukamasea yang kurang mampu dengan memberikan bantuan perbaikan instalasi listrik secara gratis. Kegiatan ini terlaksana dengan baik dan berhasil berkat keterlibatan mahasiswa KKN-PPL Terpadu SMK Darul Ulum Amessangeng Angkatan 29 dalam pemasangan instalasi rumah dan untuk memastikan setiap instalasi rumah yang diperbaiki memenuhi standar keamanan, kelayakan, serta standar PUIL 2011. Selain itu, partisipasi Kepala Dusun dalam melakukan survei rumah masyarakat yang kurang mampu, serta bantuan dari beberapa siswa SMK Darul Ulum Amessangeng dalam proses pemasangan instalasi rumah, turut mendukung keberhasilan program kerja ini. Program kerja ini diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak positif yang berkelanjutan bagi masyarakat Tukamasea.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has opened up great opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to expand their markets through digital-based marketing strategies. However, MSME players in Tenrigangkae Village still face limitations in digital literacy, social media utilization, and marketplace management. This community service article aims to improve the digital marketing capacity of MSME actors through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach that emphasizes active participation in every stage. The activities carried out include an initial survey, discussions with partners, as well as socialization and assistance in creating Instagram and Shopee accounts. This community service article shows an increase in the understanding and skills of MSME players in managing social media, uploading products, editing photos, and developing more effective promotional strategies. This program not only increases the competitiveness of MSMEs locally but also opens up marketing opportunities to a wider market. This community service article concludes that practice-based mentoring can have a tangible impact on SME development and has the potential to be replicated in other regions with similar contexts.

Abstract

Purpose - Industry 4.0 increases competency demands for informatics graduates. Graduates need software skills and industrial automation literacy. This study designed and validated a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based smart solar dome dryer as a contextual learning platform for developing industrial competencies in informatics education. Design/methods/approach – This study designed and validated a PLC-based smart solar dome dryer as a contextual learning platform to enhance students’ industrial competencies. The prototype was assessed through functional testing, sensor accuracy and stability testing, drying performance evaluation, and expert feasibility review as a learning medium. Learning effectiveness was examined using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with 120 informatics students in experimental and control groups. Instrument validity and reliability were confirmed using Aiken’s V and Cronbach’s alpha. Findings – The system operated reliably as a closed drying platform and produced more stable temperature and humidity conditions with more efficient drying time than conventional methods. Students in the experimental group achieved significantly higher competency gains than those in the control group (p < 0.001), with a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 3.21; Hedges’ g = 3.18).   Research implications/limitations – The findings suggest that authentic PLC-based automation systems can support contextual industrial learning in Education 4.0. However, the quasi-experimental design and single institutional context limit causal and generalization claims.   Originality/value – This study contributes a validated agro-industrial automation prototype and empirical evidence on its potential value as a contextual learning platform in informatics education.

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the flow of mental activities involved in developing dominant representations when solving convergent sequence problems and to understand how students transform dominant representations into alternative forms to support mathematical understanding. Method: Employing a qualitative case study approach involving 12 Mathematics Education students from the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Datokarama State Islamic University, Palu, who had completed real analysis courses and understood the concept of convergent sequences. Data were collected through validated tests and semi-structured interviews. The research procedure followed the stages proposed by Fraenkel et al., including phenomenon identification, participant selection, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Results: The findings revealed that the flow of mental activities in developing dominant representations consists of five stages: understanding the problem, identifying dominant representations, converting dominant representations into alternative representations, evaluating and revising solutions, and reflecting on the effectiveness of the chosen representations. Students with verbal, visual, and symbolic dominant representations demonstrated different approaches in solving convergent sequence problems but followed a similar cognitive flow when transforming representations. Novelty: A systematic flow of mental activities for developing dominant representations in mathematical problem-solving. The findings contribute to mathematics education literature by explaining how representation transformation supports conceptual understanding of convergent sequences and promotes more effective learning practices aligned with the goals of quality education (SDG 4).
