Abstract

Program kerja Q'Friends merupakan salah satu kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat mahasiswa KKN Tematik Universitas Negeri Makassar yang dilaksanakan di keluarahan Tettikenrarae, Kabupaten Soppeng. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca, memperbaiki bacaan, serta menambah hafalan Al-Qur'an anak-anak melalui pembelajaran di TPA Nurul Falah dan TPA Baiturrahman. Kegiatan dilaksanakan mulai  dari 2 juli hingga 5 september 2025 dengan melibatkan 51 santri. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi awal, pemilihan lokasi TPA, pelaksanaan bimbingan, serta evaluasi dan pemberian apreasiasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan membaca iqra' dan Al Qur'an, bertambahnya hafalan, serta tumbuhnya karakter religius anak-anak melalui kebiasaan positif seperti murojaah, disiplin, dan penghormatan kepada guru. Program ini tidak hanya berdampak pada santri, tetapi juga memberikan pengalaman berharga bagi mahasiswa dalam berkontribusi terhadap pembinaan karakter islami generasi muda. Dengan demikian, Q'Friends menjadi solusi nyata dalam memperkuat pendidikan Al-Qur'an non formal serta menumbuhkan kecintaan generasi penerus bangsa terhadap nilai-nilai islam.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen the implementation of ethnomathematics in mathematics instruction through the Subject Teacher Consultation Forum (MGMP) in Maros Regency. The primary challenges faced by the partner group included limited teacher understanding of ethnomathematics concepts and constraints in developing culturally based instructional materials. The program was conducted through workshops and mentoring activities involving mathematics teachers as participants. The implementation stages included observation, planning, execution, and evaluation. The findings indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding and competencies, as evidenced by questionnaire results categorized as “very good” and increased pretest-posttest scores. Furthermore, teachers successfully produced ethnomathematics-based instructional products, such as student worksheets, mathematical literacy problems, and teaching modules contextualized to local culture. The program also enhanced teachers’ practical skills in designing innovative and meaningful learning experiences. Therefore, workshops conducted through the MGMP forum proved effective in improving teacher competencies and supporting the collaborative and sustainable implementation of ethnomathematics-based instruction

Abstract

Mathematical representation is a critical competency that prospective mathematics teachers must possess in order to understand concepts and solve problems effectively. However, previous studies still leave conceptual gaps in explaining how prospective mathematics teachers construct and coordinate representations as cognitive guidance mechanisms, particularly when calculating the area of a triangle. This study aims to uncover the involvement of visual representations and cognitive guidance during the process of solving problems involving the area of a triangle. This study employs an exploratory qualitative approach. Data were collected through problem-solving tests and semi-structured interviews with five subjects selected from 93 prospective participants. The data were analyzed based on the use of visual representations, the concept of coordinate transformation, plotting accuracy, and indications of cognitive guidance. The results revealed four characteristics of representation use: (1) no visual representation, incorrect coordinate transformation, failure to plot coordinate points, and no cognitive guidance; (2) visual representation, incorrect coordinate transformation, incorrect plotting of coordinate points, and cognitive guidance; (3) does not involve visual representations, correct coordinate transformations, does not plot coordinate points, and is not cognitively guided; and (4) involves visual representations, correct coordinate transformations, plots coordinate points accurately, and is cognitively guided. Visual representations help understand geometric structures and spatial relationships, while symbolic representations formalize computational procedures.
