Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of justice principles in Islamic economics as a transformative effort to address global poverty and social inequality. Islamic economics emerges as an alternative paradigm that emphasizes justice, balance, and sustainability contrasting with capitalist and socialist systems that often lead to inequality and structural as well as moral crises. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive and analytical approach through the review of academic literature, scholarly journals, and research reports on the application of Islamic economic principles in various countries. The findings indicate that key instruments such as zakat, waqf, and the prohibition of riba play a strategic role in achieving equitable wealth distribution, reducing poverty, and strengthening social solidarity. Moreover, the Islamic financial system based on profit-and-loss sharing and ethical business practices encourages economic stability that is more resilient and sustainable in the face of global crises. Major challenges in its implementation include the dominance of global capitalism, low levels of Islamic economic literacy, and limited regulatory and technological support. Nevertheless, through the integration of Islamic ethical values, technological innovation, and international collaboration, Islamic economics has the potential to serve as a foundation for a more inclusive, stable, and human-centered global economic system.

Abstract

Low household income and limited technical skills represent the primary challenges faced by the community in Talang Ubi, Pulokerto Village, Palembang, which hinder the development of creative economy potential based on local wisdom. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of housewives and young women through flower and snack bouquet production training as a strategic effort to enhance their quality of life. The implementation method employed was Participatory Action Research (PAR), encompassing the stages of problem diagnosis, solution planning, action (through lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on training), and reflection. Evaluation was conducted comprehensively using pre-test and post-test instruments among 20 selected participants. The results indicated a significant increase in participant competence, with a 100% success rate. Evaluation data recorded an implementation achievement of 91%, material mastery of 94%, and target material achievement of 90%. In conclusion, the application of the PAR method in this training proved effective in economically empowering women and is aligned with the achievement of SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). This activity provides a tangible contribution to strengthening the local creative economy ecosystem sustainably and supports the achievement of Universitas Sriwijaya's Key Performance Indicators (IKU).

Abstract

The novelty of this study lies in its methodological contribution through the application of MICMAC (Matrix of Cross-Impact Multiplication Applied to Classification) structural analysis in the context of sustainable halal tourism village development in Indonesia, an approach that remains rarely explored in previous halal tourism and rural development studies. Unlike conventional approaches such as descriptive analysis or SWOT analysis, this study employs MICMAC to systematically map the direct and indirect influence-dependence relationships among strategic variables within a complex rural tourism system. This study contributes by developing an integrated structural framework that simultaneously incorporates rural economic development, halal tourism principles, institutional governance, community participation, digitalization, environmental sustainability, and local cultural preservation. Through MICMAC analysis, the study is able to identify key driving variables, relay variables, dependent variables, and autonomous variables, thereby providing a more comprehensive understanding of the causal structure underlying sustainable halal tourism village development. Methodologically, this study demonstrates that MICMAC analysis can serve as an effective strategic policy tool for identifying priority intervention areas in complex village-based tourism systems. The findings provide a more systematic and evidence-based foundation for policymakers in designing phased and sustainable halal tourism village development strategies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the alignment between Maqasid al-Shariah and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a multidimensional welfare framework in South Sumatra, Indonesia during the 2020–2025 period. The study develops a sub-national Maqasid-based Welfare Index (MWI) by incorporating five dimensions: social welfare (Din), health (Nafs), education (Aql), human development (Nasl), and economic welfare (Mal), proxied respectively by social indicators, life expectancy, mean years of schooling, Human Development Index (HDI), and poverty rate. Using panel data across districts/cities, this research applies a composite index approach combined with panel regression analysis to examine the determinants and dynamics of multidimensional welfare. The results reveal a significant welfare decline during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, followed by a gradual recovery throughout 2022–2025. The regression findings indicate that health and education exert positive and significant effects on Maqasid-based welfare, while poverty negatively affects welfare performance. The findings demonstrate that the integration of Maqasid al-Shariah and SDGs provides a broader welfare perspective beyond conventional economic indicators. Despite improvements in human development, regional disparities and poverty remain major challenges for inclusive welfare achievement. This study contributes empirically by operationalizing a Maqasid-based Welfare Index (MWI) at the sub-national level and offers policy implications for strengthening human capital investment, social protection, and sustainable regional development strategies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance residents’ skills and economic independence through training in the production of cost-effective and environmentally friendly liquid detergent. The program involved 25 participants, comprising housewives and micro-entrepreneurs in Ogan Ilir Regency. A participatory approach was employed, consisting of socialization, technical production training, and continuous mentoring stages. Evaluation was conducted using an assessment sheet divided into two components: evaluation of program implementation and evaluation of its impact on participants’ business development. A Likert-scale-based assessment was used to measure participants’ levels of understanding, satisfaction, and motivation, while the data were analyzed descriptively using Microsoft Excel. The results indicate that participants acquired a solid understanding of liquid detergent production, including ingredient formulation, mixing techniques, and product packaging. In addition to technical skill development, the training enhanced participants’ entrepreneurial awareness, production efficiency, and understanding of the economic potential of household-based products. The evaluation findings demonstrate a significant increase in community knowledge and motivation to develop independent businesses, although further mentoring in technical refinement and marketing strategies remains necessary. This program aligns with the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to poverty alleviation, decent work, and sustainable consumption and production. With continued support from higher education institutions and local governments, this initiative is expected to serve as a model for sustainable village economic empowerment and contribute to improving community welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of promotion and appraisal value on customers' interest in using the gold pawn financing facility at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KC Prabumulih Sudirman 1. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 89 respondents, and the data were analyzed through linear regression using SPSS. The findings indicate that both promotion and appraisal value have a positive and statistically significant effect on customers' interest in utilizing the gold pawn facility. Promotion emerged as the more influential variable, with a t-value of 5.384 (p < 0.001), while appraisal value also demonstrated a significant effect, with a t-value of 4.353 (p = 0.001). These findings suggest that effective promotional strategies and competitive appraisal values play a crucial role in enhancing customers' intention to use gold pawn financing services. Therefore, Bank Syariah Indonesia should optimize its promotional activities and collateral appraisal policies to strengthen the competitiveness of its gold pawn products and increase customer interest.
