Abstract

The skill of languages is so important in our life, because of this skills we can express our mind and feeling in contextual with the conversation in that situation. The ability to speak we can also speaking well, where speak or conversation have to creative figure in communication so language is clear, coherent, and easy to understand because it can express the ideas and feeling. The issue of mastery of English can not be separated from the planning of the nation's education program. The English itself is practical, still a language science that must be taught to the students. Teaching is the totality of teaching and learning activities that begin with planning and end with evaluation. More explicitly it can be said that teaching as an all-encompassing activity directly to achieve specific objectives of teaching (determining the learners' entry-behavior, drawing up lesson plans, providing information, asking questions, and assessing. Comic is one type of media that can be used to express the mind, imagination and creativity in the form of drawings and written language. Comics can encourage DKV students to enjoy the ability to speak English well. This research indicator used the elements such as comic story narrative, illustration drawings, panels, word balloons, moral values of the comic created.

Abstract

Role play storytelling method is a method to mastery the lesson of studying with how to gaining your imagination and appreciation that do by the act as a living figures or inanimated objects. The students of SMPN 1 Bojonggede has learn in English langunge by this method and using the poster as a media to storytelling, because the media that they use is interesting, colorful, and by the figures, so the students can raise their imagination by this poster. Poster is a strong combination of design, blending color, and the intention to capture the attention for those who see it. In this globalization era, teachers must be creative to do teaching and learning activities, by this method learning activities are going to interesting. ABSTRAK Metode role play storytelling adalah suatu cara penguasaan bahan-bahan pelajaran melalui pengembangan imajinasi dan penghayatan yang dilakukan siswa dengan memerankannya sebagai tokoh hidup atau benda mati. Para siswa SMPN 1 Bojonggede lebih mudah bercerita berbahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan media Poster, karena media yang digunakan menarik, berwarna, dan dengan gambar sehingga siswa mampu bermain dengan imajinasinya melalui media tersebut. Poster merupakan kombinasi yang kuat antara rancangan, paduan warna, pesan yang terkandung, serta maksud untuk menangkap perhatian orang yang melihatnya. Era globalisasi saat ini mengharuskan pengajar lebih kreatif dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar, karena dengan metode tersebut di harapkan kegiatan pembelajaran bermakna dan menyenangkan serta tidak membosankan, dengan metode dan penggunaan media tersebut diharapkan kemampuan bahasa anak tercapai dengan baik.

Abstract

Descriptive text is the text that describing a people, a things, and place. It is purpose to describing a person or a thing in a particular. It will be identified the phenomenon of person, place, or thing. Describing parts, qualities, characteristics, etc. So, the students with their artwork can be describing their art by using this text. The students of Visual communication design are going to make a text with their artwork and describe by descriptive text. For example, This picture is a picture at the end of the semester exam in the form drawing course. In the picture there are two apples, one tea glass, a wallet and lurik cloth. To work on this artwork, I need more than two days, because the process is quite difficult, having to attention to parts of the object in detail.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to gaining the speaking ability of Architecture students by storytelling method that using flashcard media in a groups class. After that, one of them speaking and doing storytelling about the picture on flashcard. Role play storytelling method is a method to mastery the lesson of studying by story telling of any kinds a story with how to gaining your imagination and appreciation that do by the act as a living figures or inanimate objects. Qualitative method is using in this research where is the data that taken from many books and journal, information are needed,concept, and discuss the object problem.The students of Architecture has learn the English language by this method and using the flashcard as a media to storytelling, because the media that they use is interesting, colorful, and by the figures, so the students can raise their imagination by this flashcard. Flashcard is a card bearing information, a word or numbers, or either both sides that by picture, used in classroom drills or in private study. Flashcard can bear a vocabulary, historical dates, formula, or any subject matter that can be learned. In this globalization era, teachers must be creative to do teaching and learning activities, by this method learning activities, teacher hopes that the students are going to interesting in their English class. Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa Arsitektur dengan metode storytelling menggunakan media flashcard yang dibentuk dalam berkelompok. Lalu mereka berbicara di depan kelas menceritakan gambar yang ada pada flashcard tersebut. Metode role play storytelling adalah metode penguasaan bahan-bahan pelajaran melalui bercerita tentang apapun menggunakan media ataupun tidak melalui pengembangan imajinasi dan penghayatan yang dilakukan siswa dengan memerankannya sebagai tokoh hidup atau benda mati. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan kualitatif, dimana data yang dikumpulkan berupa kepustakaan, informasi, tanggapan, konsep, maupun uraian yang mengungkapkan masalah. Para mahasiswa Arsitektur lebih mudah bercerita berbahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan media flashcard, karena media yang digunakan menarik, berwarna, dan menggunakan gambar sehingga siswa mampu bermain dengan imajinasinya melalui media tersebut. Flashcard mampu meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata, sejarah, rumus, atau berbagai subjek permasalahan pembelajaran yang diajarkan. Era globalisasi saat ini mengharuskan pengajar lebih kreatif dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar, karena dengan metode tersebut di harapkan kegiatan pembelajaran bermakna dan menyenangkan serta tidak membosankan, dengan metode dan penggunaan media tersebut diharapkan kemampuan bahasa anak tercapai dengan baik.

Abstract

Writing is an inseparable activity in human life in general. Almost in everyday require writing skills. Writing is a productive skill that require practice because it need ideas, knowledge, and language skills. It becomes a challenge when you have to write in a foreign language. Short functional texts are often used in social life, one of which is greeting cards. In reality , some students find the difficult to make greeting cards. This study aims to determine the ability to write short functional texts on greeting cards. The method used is qualitative by taking a sample of 40 greeting cards in the English class, of Visual Communication Design program at Indraprasta PGRI University . The results showed students with there are 40% of students in sufficient categories (C), students with very good categories (A) and good (B) each 28%, and students with less categories (D) by 5%. In addition, the ability to write text functional text in grammatical aspects points (C), the effectiveness of sentences is good grades (B), the amount produced in writing is enough (C), and the choice of words gets points B (good). From the data need more training in writing to improve students' writing abilities. ABSTRAK Menulis adalah kegiatan yang tidak dapat dipisahkan dalam kehidupan manusia pada umumnya. Hampir kegiatan sehari hari membutuhkan keahlian menulis. Menulis termasuk productive skill yang membutuhkan latihan karena membutuhkan ide, gagasan, pengetahuan, dan kemampuan bahasa yang baik. Hal tersebut menjadi tantangan ketika harus menulis dengan bahasa asing yaitu Bahasa Inggris. Teks fungsional pendek sering digunakan dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat salah satunya greeting cards atau dikenal sebagai kartu ucapan pada kenyataannya beberapa siswa merasa kesulitan dalam membuat greeting cards hal ini ditunjukan oleh lamanya proses mereka menulis greeting cards, serta ditemukan beberapa siswa yang mendapat skor sedikit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan menulis teks fungsional pendek pada greeting cards . Metode yang digunakan ialah kulitatif dengan mengambil sampel hasil belajar 40 siswa berupa greeting cards Pada kelas Bahasa Inggris Prodi DKV Universitas Indrasta PGRI. Hasilnya ditemukan siswa dengan kategori cukup (C) 40%, siswa dengan kategori sangat baik (A) dan baik (B) masing – masing 28%, dan siswa dengan kategori kurang (D) sebesar 5%. Selain itu kemampuan menulis dari aspek tata bahasa mendapat poin cukup (C), efektifitas kalimat dengan nilai baik (B), Jumlah yang dihasilkan dalam tulisan cukup (C), dan pemilihan kata mendapat poin B ( baik). Dari data yang didapat dibutuhkan pelatihan dalam menulis guna meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa.
