Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the level of compliance with the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) at Gambut Barakat Terminal, Km 6 Banjarmasin Terminal, and H. Soemarsono Tanah Laut Terminal based on the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number 40 of 2015 concerning Minimum Service Standards for Passenger Terminals. This research employed a descriptive evaluative method by assessing the conformity level of facilities and services at each terminal. Data were collected through field observations and documentation based on SPM indicators, including safety, security, reliability or regularity, comfort, accessibility, and equality aspects. The assessment was conducted using a scoring system to determine the level of service fulfillment at each terminal. The results indicate that the implementation of SPM at the three terminals is still uneven. Km 6 Banjarmasin Terminal showed a higher level of service fulfillment compared to the other terminals, while H. Soemarsono Tanah Laut Terminal had the lowest fulfillment level, particularly in safety and equality aspects. The correlation test results revealed a strong positive relationship between terminal classification and the level of SPM fulfillment, indicating that terminals with higher classifications tend to provide more complete facilities and better services. The low level of SPM fulfillment at several terminals is influenced by limited facilities, operational management, and the suboptimal implementation of service standards. The findings of this study are expected to serve as evaluation material for improving the quality of passenger terminal services in South Kalimantan.

Abstract

AbstractHeavy traffic flows at unsignalized intersections can undermine operational efficiency, often triggering prolonged delays and vehicle accumulation during rush hours. This research examines the operational condition of the unsignalized T-junction connecting Jalan A. Syairani and Jalan Sarang Halang in Tanah Laut Regency, employing the 1997 MKJI as its analytical framework. Primary information was obtained through on-site surveys of intersection geometry and peak-period traffic movements, supplemented by secondary data. The assessment covered intersection capacity, degree of saturation, delay, and queue likelihood in accordance with MKJI 1997. Findings show that peak-hour demand reached 1,085 pcu/h, exceeding the available capacity of 987.878 pcu/h and producing a saturation ratio of 1.098, classified as LOS F. The recorded intersection delay was 25.245 s/pcu, while the estimated queue probability varied between 49% and 97%, reflecting substantial queuing potential, particularly along the minor road approach. These results suggest that the junction’s present carrying capability cannot adequately accommodate peak-period demand. Accordingly, geometric adjustments, traffic-flow regulation, and further assessment of suitable intersection-control alternatives are proposed to restore more effective operating conditions.

Abstract

The Paringin Signalized Intersection in Balangan Regency is an important intersection on the Trans-Kalimantan route that accommodates interregional traffic movements between South, East, and Central Kalimantan. Increasing traffic activity at this intersection may affect its operational performance, particularly during peak hours. This study aims to analyze the traffic volume, capacity, degree of saturation (DS), and level of service (LOS) at the Paringin Signalized Intersection using the 1997 Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI). The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach. Primary data were collected through traffic surveys conducted for three days, from 9 to 11 May 2026, with observations carried out for 12 hours per day from 06.00 to 18.00 WITA. The collected data included intersection geometry, traffic volume, and signal timing. The analysis covered traffic volume, saturation flow, capacity, degree of saturation, and level of service for each approach. The results showed that the peak-hour traffic volumes were 549 pcu/hour for the North approach, 418 pcu/hour for the South approach, 120 pcu/hour for the West approach, and 168 pcu/hour for the East approach. The corresponding capacities were 408.13, 499.90, 588.04, and 419.70 pcu/hour, with DS values of 1.34, 0.84, 0.20, and 0.40, respectively. The resulting LOS were F, D, A, and B. The North approach was the critical approach because its traffic volume exceeded the available capacity. Therefore, signal timing evaluation and capacity improvement are required, particularly for the North approach.

Abstract

The increase in population and the growth of motorized vehicles have led to higher traffic volumes at several main intersections, one of which is the Signalized Intersection of Bundaran Tuntung Pandang, which connects the northern approach (Jalan Datu Insyad), southern approach (Jalan A. Syairani), and western approach (Jalan H. Boejasin). This study aims to analyze the performance of the Bundaran Tuntung Pandang signalized intersection using the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI, 1997) and the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI, 2023). The parameters analyzed include traffic volume, approach capacity, degree of saturation (DS), and level of service (LOS). The results of the analysis show that the northern approach (Jalan Datu Insyad) has the highest degree of saturation (DS) value of 3.460 (LOS F), followed by the southern approach (Jalan A. Syairani) with 3.346 (LOS F), and the western approach (Jalan H. Boejasin) with 2.775 (LOS F). These results indicate that the traffic flow operates at Level of Service F, meaning that the intersection is in a congested condition with unstable traffic flow. Therefore, signal optimization and traffic management strategies are required to improve the intersection’s performance and reduce congestion levels in the area.
