Abstract

Educational leadership within Islamic institutions is continuously challenged to be managerially effective while maintaining a profound spiritual anchor in facing modern disruptions. This study aims to analyze in depth the implementation of a coaching-based leadership model rooted in Qur’anic values to enhance teacher performance at PPTQ Nuzhatul Muttaqien, Citra Raya, Tangerang, Banten. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a case study design, field data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews with the pesantren leadership and the teaching staff (asatidz), and institutional documentation. The data were analyzed interactively, encompassing data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that coaching leadership is effectively executed by harmonizing modern mentoring frameworks (the GROW model) with the internalization of prophetic virtues: shiddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fathanah. This model positions the principal as a learning leader who prioritizes humanistic personal approaches, moral exemplification, and the reinforcement of intrinsic motivation. The shura-based (deliberative) intervention successfully transforms the institutional cultivation from a rigid-directive pattern into an empowering dialogue, thereby reducing teacher resistance, strengthening pedagogical accountability, and elevating the professional performance of the faculty. In conclusion, the integration of Qur’anic theological aspects and modern management tactics creates a holistic, blessed, and sustainable human resource management paradigm within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), has profoundly transformed the landscape of education, prompting vital questions regarding the role of human educators in the teaching and learning process. As educational institutions increasingly integrate AI-driven tools, the challenge of incorporating moral and ethical values within the framework of Islamic education becomes increasingly pressing in this digital age. This study aims to explore the intricate relationship between humans as rational beings and the influence of AI in educational practices, with a particular emphasis on Islamic perspectives. Utilizing a qualitative research method, the research employs a literature review approach to analyze a variety of relevant scholarly sources. The findings reveal that while AI has the potential to significantly enhance learning efficiency through personalized learning experiences and data-driven insights, the indispensable role of human educators persists in guiding students' character formation and moral development. Furthermore, effective education extends beyond mere knowledge transfer; it encompasses the nurturing of values and ethics that prepare students for responsible citizenship. Ultimately, these findings offer new insights into how the collaboration between human educators and AI technology can foster a more enriching educational environment aligned with the principles of Islamic education, ensuring that moral and ethical considerations remain central to the learning experience.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) face growing challenges in preserving traditional Islamic values while responding to educational modernization and changing student behavior. This study examines how the Qismu Riayah division at Darullughah Wadda'wah Islamic Boarding School integrates Islamic values with contemporary student behavior management to support holistic student development. A qualitative case study design was employed, with data collected through semi-structured interviews involving 37 informants, non-participant observations, and institutional document analysis. The findings reveal that Qismu Riayah functions not only as a disciplinary unit but also as a structured mentoring and character-development system. Traditional Islamic values, including ikhlas (sincerity), adab (ethics), discipline, and collective responsibility, are embedded in daily mentoring, dormitory supervision, and counseling, while contemporary approaches such as peer mentoring, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices strengthen students' behavioral and emotional development. The study demonstrates that Islamic values and modern student management practices are complementary rather than contradictory. It contributes to Islamic educational management by proposing an integrative model that bridges traditional pesantren values with contemporary student behavior management, providing practical insights for character education in modern Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia are transforming, not only as centers of religious education but also as agents of economic empowerment through the development of entrepreneurship based on Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the strategies for forming santripreneur character, the transformation of students’ entrepreneurial spirit, and the empowerment model in managing business units at Pesantren Al Ma’ruf Kediri. Using a qualitative method with a case study approach, data were collected through participatory observation in business units (laundry, culinary, fisheries, etc.), in-depth interviews with caregivers, teachers (ustadz), and students (santri), as well as document analysis. The findings reveal that entrepreneurship education at this pesantren is holistically integrated through formal learning, seminars, study circles (halaqah), mentoring, and direct practice (experiential learning). This strategy effectively instills pesantren values such as independence, sincerity, honesty, and work ethic as a spiritual foundation in business, while simultaneously avoiding usury (riba) and exploitation. The empowerment model, based on structured mentoring and a task rotation system, successfully enhances the students’ entrepreneurial self-efficacy, fosters leadership qualities, and promotes the pesantren’s economic independence. In conclusion, the pesantren is capable of producing a generation of santripreneurs who are pious, morally upright, financially independent, and serve as agents of Islamic economic change adaptable to global dynamics.

Abstract

This study examines the innovative leadership of K.H. Chasan Zamzami in integrated curriculum management at API Al Hanafiyah Islamic Boarding School, Jatiwangi, Majalengka. The issue addressed is the gap between traditional pesantren education and modern formal curriculum demands. The purpose of this research is to analyze how kiai leadership innovation integrates salaf and formal curricula. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design, collecting data through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation study. The results reveal that K.H. Chasan Zamzami's innovative leadership is manifested through five integrated dimensions: spiritual development, student development through structured character education, social innovation through community organizations, special guidance for adolescents, and cadre formation through integrated curriculum and dual-certificate system. The impact of this research contributes to the development of Islamic education management theory by offering an integrated innovative leadership model. The conclusion confirms that this leadership model combines Islamic spiritual values, modern educational management, and community empowerment, which can be replicated by other Islamic boarding schools. Abstract

This study examines the strategic management of educational marketing implemented at MAN Mempawah to enhance the institution’s competitiveness amidst digital disruption. Amidst increasing competition among educational institutions, reliance on single-channel marketing is no longer sufficient; therefore, a hybrid approach is needed. This study used a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the madrasah principal and public relations staff, participant observation of marketing activities, and documentation of digital assets. The findings indicate that: (1) Marketing planning involves meticulous market segmentation and the development of unique value propositions through academic and non-academic excellence, such as specialized technology programs and religious curricula; (2) Implementation strategies rely on the synergy between traditional Word of Mouth (WOM) and modern Digital Branding. While WOM, driven by alumni achievements and community-based social programs (e.g., free medical treatment), builds deep trust, digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube amplify this trust to a wider audience. The study concludes that the integration of “human-touch” social proof into “high-tech” digital narratives creates strong brand equity that significantly influences parental decision-making. The adaptive leadership of the madrasah principal in orchestrating these two poles is a key driver in maintaining the relevance and sustainability of madrasahs in the competitive educational landscape.
