Abstract

Scientific publication literacy is a crucial competency for students completing their final research projects, yet many remain unfamiliar with predatory journals and proper journal submission procedures. This community service activity was conducted at the Geography Education Study Program, Nusa Cendana University, targeting 103 sixth-semester and final-semester students who were actively writing their theses. A preliminary survey revealed that 68 out of 103 participants did not know how to verify journal credibility or understand the stages of journal submission, both nationally and internationally. To address this, a structured training was conducted focusing on predatory journal detection, national journal classification under the Sinta 1 to 6 indexing system, and the complete journal submission process from manuscript preparation to publication. Following the training, post-test results showed that approximately 85 participants were able to distinguish predatory journals from legitimate ones, understand the journal submission stages, and differentiate between national and international journal categories. These results demonstrate that targeted training significantly improved students' scientific publication literacy and prepared them to make informed decisions when selecting journals for publishing their research findings.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

With Kupang City's subdistricts serving as the analysis unit, this study seeks to determine the hierarchy of service centers. The hierarchy level of service centers is ascertained by the use of centrality indices and scalogram techniques. The results are presented in a hierarchy table based on the presence and completeness of service facilities in each area. In Kupang City, Hierarchy I includes the Oebobo and Maulafa subdistricts, which have more complete facilities and infrastructure and function as primary service centers with significant influence on surrounding areas. Hierarchy II consists of the Alak and Kelapa Lima subdistricts, which, although having more facilities, are not as comprehensive as Oebobo and Maulafa, with lower service quality. Meanwhile, the Kota Raja and Kota Lama subdistricts are in Hierarchy III, with more limited facilities and functioning as local service centers with lower accessibility. The results of this study are expected to provide insights for the local government in planning related to service centers.

Abstract

Malaka Regency, which borders Timor-Leste, faces challenges in utilizing its natural resources, thus requiring learning media to explore local potential. This study aims to develop a learning booklet based on local renewable energy sources and test its effectiveness. This study employed a research and design model developed by Borg and Gall. For analysis, N-Gain was used to evaluate pre-test and post-test results, involving 98 eighth-grade students and 27 social studies teachers in the dissemination stage. The results showed a significant increase in student understanding with an N-Gain of 0.6647 (66.47%), which is considered effective. A paired t-test revealed a highly significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.001), with an effect size (Cohen's d = 2.568) indicating a substantial impact. 78.15% of teachers considered the booklet suitable for classroom use. These findings indicate that the developed booklet is effective and pedagogically appropriate.

Abstract

Golewa District, Ngada Regency, is an area with potential exposure to various disaster threats, making it necessary to strengthen disaster literacy from school age. This community service activity aims to strengthen the disaster literacy of primary school students through the Inerie Eco-Safe Community program. The activity was carried out at SD Malanuza, SD Koeloda, and SD Rutosoro, involving 150 students, using a participatory approach through disaster education, the installation of evacuation route signage, and the establishment of a school-based disaster literacy community. The results show that students gained an understanding of various disaster threats and mitigation measures, the schools now have evacuation route signage as a preparedness support facility, and the Inerie Eco-Safe Community was formed as a platform to support the sustainability of disaster education within the school environment. This program demonstrates that integrating education, providing preparedness facilities, and actively involving school members can support the growth of a disaster-aware culture in primary schools
