Abstract

Female Muslim legislators have become increasingly visible in the political landscapes of several Muslim-majority countries, including Indonesia and Turkey, where shifting democratic norms and evolving interpretations of Islamic gender ethics shape women’s participation in governance. Despite expanded representation, questions remain regarding how these women influence gender-inclusive policymaking and how their political strategies differ across distinct socio-religious and institutional contexts. Understanding these dynamics is essential for analyzing the broader transformation of Muslim women’s political agency in contemporary Muslim democracies. This study aims to compare the roles, strategies, and policy impacts of female Muslim legislators in Indonesia and Turkey by examining how they navigate religious discourse, party structures, and political constraints while advocating for gender-inclusive reforms. The research seeks to identify convergences and divergences in their legislative behavior, institutional challenges, and use of Islamic arguments in political debates. A qualitative comparative political analysis was conducted using parliamentary documents, policy archives, and twenty semi-structured interviews with legislators, political advisors, and civil-society actors from both countries. The analysis employed thematic coding and cross-case comparison to evaluate how religious identity intersects with political participation and legislative outcomes. Findings reveal that Indonesian female Muslim legislators tend to mobilize pluralist Islamic narratives and civil-society alliances to strengthen gender advocacy, whereas their Turkish counterparts often navigate more centralized party systems and heightened ideological polarization. Both groups, however, strategically employ Islamic ethical frameworks to legitimize gender-inclusive policies. The study concludes that female Muslim legislators play a crucial role in transforming gender governance in Muslim-majority democracies, though the extent of their influence remains shaped by national political structures.

Abstract

Personality disorders (PDs) are pervasive mental health conditions that significantly impact an individual's behavior, interpersonal relationships, and overall functioning. These disorders are often associated with complex treatment challenges, as they frequently co-occur with other psychiatric conditions and complicate therapeutic interventions. Understanding the influence of personality disorders on treatment outcomes is crucial for developing more effective, tailored interventions for patients with these conditions. This study aims to explore the impact of personality disorders on treatment outcomes in clinical psychology, focusing on how PDs affect the success of various therapeutic approaches and the therapeutic alliance. The goal is to identify key factors that influence treatment efficacy and highlight strategies to improve outcomes for individuals with PDs. A systematic review and meta-analysis of existing clinical trials and longitudinal studies were conducted. Data were extracted from 30 studies involving over 2,000 participants diagnosed with personality disorders. The analysis focused on treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic therapy, examining their effectiveness in patients with different types of PDs. The findings indicate that individuals with PDs experience slower and less consistent progress compared to those without PDs, with DBT showing the most significant positive effects. Treatment outcomes were further influenced by the presence of comorbid conditions and the type of PD. Personality disorders significantly affect treatment outcomes, requiring specialized approaches to address their complexities. Tailored interventions such as DBT are recommended to improve efficacy in treating patients with PDs.

Abstract

Food security debates have increasingly shifted from the question of how much food is produced to the question of what nutritional value that food delivers to populations. This study aimed to examine how the nutritional quality of agricultural products, particularly functional foods and nutrient-rich crops, contributes to stronger household food security. A convergent mixed-methods design was employed, combining laboratory analysis of 30 agricultural product samples, household survey data from 150 respondents, and in-depth interviews with 15 key informants drawn from farming, market, and nutrition sectors. The findings showed that nutrient-rich crops and functional food products contained substantially higher levels of protein, iron, zinc, dietary fiber, beta-carotene, and phenolic compounds than conventional staples. Households with greater access to these products reported higher dietary diversity, lower food insecurity scores, and better perceived dietary adequacy. Qualitative evidence further revealed that local processing, market accessibility, nutrition awareness, and community acceptance strengthened the food security effects of nutritionally superior products. Nutritional quality in agricultural products can therefore be understood as a strategic pillar of food security, supporting a shift from quantity-oriented agriculture toward nutrition-sensitive, health-promoting, and more resilient food systems. These findings highlight the need for integrated agricultural, nutritional, and policy interventions across food systems.

Abstract

The demand for renewable energy sources has accelerated research into high-efficiency solar cells. Optical materials play a critical role in enhancing light absorption and overall energy conversion efficiency. Understanding the properties and performance of various optical materials is essential for optimizing solar cell technology. This study aims to compare different optical materials used in solar cells to evaluate their effectiveness in maximizing solar energy conversion. The focus is on identifying materials that offer superior optical characteristics and compatibility with existing solar cell technologies. A comparative analysis was conducted on several optical materials, including silicon dioxide (SiO2), titanium dioxide (TiO2), and organic polymers. The study involved synthesizing these materials and assessing their optical properties using UV-Vis spectroscopy and photoluminescence measurements. Efficiency tests were performed on solar cell prototypes incorporating these materials. The findings reveal that titanium dioxide exhibited the highest light absorption and photonic efficiency compared to silicon dioxide and organic polymers. Solar cells utilizing TiO2 demonstrated a significant increase in overall efficiency, achieving conversion rates of up to 22%. In contrast, organic polymers showed lower performance but offered advantages in flexibility and lightweight applications. This research highlights the importance of selecting appropriate optical materials to enhance solar cell efficiency. Titanium dioxide emerges as a leading candidate for high-performance solar cells, while organic polymers may provide alternative solutions for specific applications. Continued exploration of optical materials will be crucial for advancing solar technology and meeting global energy demands.

Abstract

The integration of Automated Essay Scoring (AES) using Natural Language Processing (NLP) in educational settings has raised questions about its validity, particularly in high-stakes language certification exams. While AES offers the advantage of scalability and efficiency, its ability to replicate human judgment, especially in complex aspects of writing such as creativity and argumentation, remains a subject of debate. This study aims to compare the validity of AES systems to human raters in assessing essays within the context of language certification exams. The primary objective is to evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and alignment between machine-generated scores and those provided by human raters across various writing criteria. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative analysis of essay scores and qualitative insights from expert raters. The results indicate a high correlation between AES and human scores for grammar, coherence, and relevance (r = 0.88–0.91), but moderate discrepancies were observed in assessing creativity and argumentation (r = 0.72). The findings suggest that while AES is effective for assessing technical writing aspects, human raters remain essential for evaluating subjective elements. The study concludes that a hybrid approach combining AES with human evaluation may offer a more balanced, reliable, and comprehensive scoring system for language certification exams.

Abstract

Background: Community empowerment has become increasingly complex in the context of rapid digital transformation, evolving social challenges, and the growing urgency of cultural sustainability. Conventional empowerment models often treat digital technology, social innovation, and culture as separate domains, limiting their capacity to respond holistically to contemporary community needs. Objective: This study aims to reimagine community empowerment by examining how digital technology, social innovation, and cultural sustainability can be integrated into a coherent and mutually reinforcing framework. Methods: The research employed a qualitative-dominant design supported by descriptive and inferential analysis. Data were collected through interviews, observations, document analysis, and secondary program data involving community members, local leaders, and innovation facilitators. Results: The findings indicate that communities achieve stronger empowerment outcomes when digital tools are embedded within socially driven innovation and aligned with local cultural values. Integrated practices enhance participation, collective agency, innovation capacity, and cultural continuity, while technology-centered approaches alone produce limited and uneven outcomes. Conclusion: The study concludes that sustainable community empowerment requires an integrative approach in which digital technology functions as an enabling instrument, social innovation acts as a transformative mechanism, and cultural sustainability provides normative grounding. This model offers a holistic pathway for inclusive and resilient community development.

Abstract

Background. Indonesian criminal law continues to reflect colonial legacies inherited from the Dutch Wetboek van Strafrecht. Despite constitutional independence and ongoing legislative reforms, many colonial-era criminal provisions remain operative and influential within contemporary judicial reasoning, raising critical questions about the depth of legal decolonization in modern Indonesian jurisprudence. Purpose. This study aims to examine how colonial-era criminal codes persist and function within modern Indonesian jurisprudence, with particular emphasis on judicial interpretation, doctrinal practices, and the epistemic continuity of colonial legal norms in criminal adjudication. Method. A qualitative doctrinal and socio-legal research design is employed. The study analyzes statutory criminal law provisions, selected judicial decisions, and relevant legal scholarship using a postcolonial legal theory framework to identify patterns of colonial normative persistence and interpretive reasoning. Results. The findings reveal that a substantial number of criminal law provisions applied in Indonesian courts originate from colonial legal frameworks and are interpreted through formalistic reasoning that prioritizes state authority and public order. Judicial practice demonstrates limited engagement with socio-historical context judicial decisions, and relevant legal Conclusion. The study concludes that legal decolonization in Indonesia remains largely symbolic at the textual level and has not fully transformed jurisprudential practice.
