Abstract

Children’s interest in learning is a key factor influencing academic achievement. One approach that can be used to enhance it is outdoor learning, which emphasizes hands-on and contextual learning experiences. This study aims to describe the implementation of an outdoor learning model in enhancing children’s interest in learning. The research method employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation and in-depth interviews. The study involved six informants, including the principal and teachers at Al-Amin Kadur Kindergarten in Pamekasan. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman model, proceeding through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Research findings indicate that outdoor learning, conducted outside the formal classroom setting and utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource, encourages children’s active engagement through direct interaction with real-world objects, enhances their focus, and broadens their participation in the learning process. Supporting factors include the availability of adequate learning facilities and resources, the use of the school’s surrounding environment as a learning resource, and warm emotional bonds between teachers and students. In contrast, inhibiting factors include students’ lack of concentration when outside the classroom, limited learning time, and external distractions such as vehicle traffic around the school. This study contributes to the development of environment-based learning strategies as an alternative to contextual approaches in early childhood education

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines how the habituation of the dhuha prayer is experienced and interpreted in relation to observable self-regulatory behaviors in early childhood education. Adopting an interpretive phenomenological design, the research was conducted in one Islamic kindergarten where dhuha prayer forms part of the daily routine. Participants included children aged five to six years and educators directly involved in the ritual practice. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed using interpretive thematic procedures with attention to variability and contextual constraints. Findings indicate that within the structured ritual context, patterns of behavioral order, situational emotional settling, attentional engagement, and emerging initiative were observable. Verbatim interview excerpts and field notes suggest that the predictable sequencing, collective participation, and guided structure of the activity coincided with the temporary alignment of regulatory behaviors. However, variability across children was evident, and behavioral patterns were context-bound rather than uniformly sustained across settings. The study does not claim causal effects or developmental trajectories. Instead, it documents how a culturally embedded religious routine functioned as a socially organized environment in which regulatory behaviors were more visibly structured. These findings contribute to interdisciplinary discussions by situating religious ritual within developmental psychology frameworks of environmental scaffolding and guided participation. Further multi-site, longitudinal, and multi-method research is needed to examine mechanisms, boundary conditions, and contextual influences more rigorously.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the process of developing Augmented Reality (AR) applications as an interactive and effective learning medium for animal world materials. The research method used is a research and development (R&D) model with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The development process includes analyzing user needs, designing and implementing the application, and evaluating the effectiveness of its use in the classroom. The results of the study show that AR applications are able to provide a more real and interesting learning experience for students. Key features such as 3D displays of animals, sounds, and interactive information successfully improve student engagement and understanding of the material. Analysis of students' responses showed that the majority felt more motivated and easily understood concepts about the animal world through this medium. The implications of this study show that AR technology has great potential in increasing learning effectiveness, especially in materials that require high visualization. Further development and integration with the curriculum can expand its benefits in the world of education.

Abstract

Outcome-Based Education (OBE) requires higher education programs to align intended graduate competencies, teaching, and assessment, yet evidence from Islamic higher education remains limited on how established curricula are optimized after initial adoption. This study investigated OBE-based curriculum optimization in the Elementary Madrasah Teacher Education Study Program at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and identified the factors enabling and constraining this process. A qualitative single-case design involved five purposively selected informants: the head of the study program, the program secretary, and three lecturers. Data were generated over one month through in-depth interviews, observation, and analysis of Semester Learning Plans, syllabi, and related curriculum documents. The data were examined through iterative reduction, interpretation, and conclusion drawing, while source and technique triangulation supported credibility. The findings identified four optimization practices: aligning Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL), Course Learning Outcomes (CPMK), and Sub-CPMK; incorporating alumni, graduate-user, and tracer-study input; strengthening lecturer commitment and integrity; and using authentic assessment. Supporting conditions included curriculum documentation, lecturer training and mentoring, stakeholder engagement, and national regulatory support. The principal constraints were the absence of a standardized instrument for measuring CPL attainment and uneven lecturer commitment. The study shows that optimization has progressed at the level of curriculum architecture and reported implementation, but its effects on graduate competence cannot yet be verified without validated attainment data. It therefore highlights the need to connect documentary OBE compliance with measurable classroom enactment and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine how character-based leadership influences the principal’s decisions at An Nur Kindergarten in Malang and how these decisions affect the quality of early childhood education. To collect data, this study used a qualitative case study design. In-depth interviews with the principal and teachers, direct observation of learning and managerial activities at the school, and documentation of school policies and programs were conducted. Data were analyzed through stages of reduction, presentation, and thematic analysis. The results indicate that the principal’s character-based leadership is reflected in a participatory, responsive decision-making process oriented toward moral principles such as honesty, empathy, and responsibility. This decision-making process improves learning quality, creates an inclusive educational environment, and strengthens a school culture that supports children’s social and emotional development. The results indicate that character-based leadership plays a strategic role in the principal's decisions at an early childhood education institution. Furthermore, this leadership is a crucial component in improving the quality of early childhood education.
