Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2011 estimates that more than 2 billion people are infected with worms around the world, about 300 million suffer from severe worm infections and about 150,000 deaths occur annually due to STI (Soil transmitted helminths) infections. Deworming has a major impact on society because it affects intake, digestion, absorption and food metabolism. Cumulatively worm infections can cause nutritional loss of calories and proteins and blood loss that can cause anemia, inhibit physical development, mental, intellectual decline in children and work productivity, can decrease the body's resistance so easily affected by other diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between hand washing habits and bathing habits with the incidence of worms. The research method used is cross sectional. The results of this study showed that there was a relationship between hand washing before eating and hand washing after to the occurrence of worm infestation with p value of 0.02 and 0.04 respectively. The relationship of bathing habits also showed a statistical relationship with a p value of 0.03, whereas there was feces in the nails also showed a statistical relationship with a p value of 0.00. Conducting efforts to promote clean and good living behavior both at school and community. Improve the promotion of handwashing, especially handwashing with soap.

Abstract

Oral health is an essential component of overall health, particularly for pregnant women and prospective brides. Nevertheless, knowledge and awareness regarding oral health remain low, contributing to the high prevalence of dental caries, gingivitis, and periodontitis. These conditions have serious implications, especially during the First 1000 Days of Life (HPK), which are closely associated with the risk of stunting. This program aimed to enhance knowledge, awareness, and preventive behaviors related to oral health among pregnant women and prospective brides as part of early stunting prevention efforts. The intervention was conducted in July 2023 at the Toddopuli Primary Health Center, Makassar City, involving 20 prospective brides, 30 pregnant women, and 10 health cadres. Activities included cross-sectoral coordination, technical training for health cadres, household visits for data collection and intervention sticker placement, oral health education through face-to-face counseling and digital media, and dental treatment at the health center. Knowledge was assessed using pre-test and post-test instruments administered via Google Form. The findings revealed a significant improvement: the proportion of participants with good knowledge increased from 49,2% before the intervention to 98,2% afterward. In addition, the number of participants receiving dental care rose from 4 in 2022 to 39 in 2023. Overall, the program successfully enhanced awareness and preventive practices and contributed to stunting prevention by improving maternal and preconception oral health.

Abstract

Birth companionship is globally recognized as an effective non-pharmacological approach to improving maternal psychological well-being during labor, yet evidence from Indonesian urban settings remains limited. This study evaluated mothers’ perceptions of birth companions and examined changes in anxiety levels before and after an intervention consisting of antenatal education and continuous companionship during labor. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted involving 30 primigravida mothers in Balikpapan, Indonesia. Data were collected using closed-ended nominal questionnaires and analyzed with the McNemar test. Significant improvements were observed in several maternal perception indicators, including feeling calmer (p = 0.000), emotionally supported (p = 0.004), physically assisted (p = 0.016), helped in communicating with health workers (p = 0.008), and safe and comfortable during labor (p = 0.031). Maternal anxiety levels also decreased significantly across key indicators, including fear of childbirth (p = 0.016), negative thoughts (p = 0.016), restlessness while waiting for labor (p = 0.001), and feelings of helplessness (p = 0.016). These findings indicate that antenatal education combined with continuous birth companionship is effective in enhancing perceived support and safety while reducing pre-delivery anxiety. However, because this study used a one-group pretest–posttest design without a comparison group, the generalizability and causal interpretation of the findings remain limited. Further research employing controlled or randomized designs is recommended to strengthen causal inference and expand applicability.

Abstract

Outpatient care requires accurate, timely, convenient, and secure patient identification. However, problems related to patient identification, administrative efficiency, and data security may affect patients’ experiences and satisfaction. FRISTA is a biometric authentication system designed to support automated patient identification. Nevertheless, the association between FRISTA use and outpatient satisfaction in primary healthcare settings in Indonesia remains insufficiently evaluated. This study aimed to examine the association between the use of the FRISTA application and outpatient satisfaction at Darkuthni Primary Clinic, Tojo Una-Una Regency, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 150 outpatients selected using stratified random sampling from the Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, and Neurology Clinics. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test and multivariate binary logistic regression, with results expressed as odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). The Chi-square test showed that ease of service access, service speed, patient identification accuracy, and personal data security were significantly associated with patient satisfaction (p < 0.05). Multivariate binary logistic regression showed that patient identification accuracy (OR = 2.226; 95% CI: 1.019–4.861; p = 0.045) and personal data security (OR = 1.748; 95% CI: 1.028–2.972; p = 0.039) remained significantly associated with patient satisfaction, whereas ease of service access and service speed were not independently associated with patient satisfaction. The multivariate binary logistic regression model yielded a Nagelkerke R² of 0.897. The use of the FRISTA biometric application was significantly associated with outpatient satisfaction. Therefore, improving patient identification accuracy and strengthening personal data security should be prioritized in implementing biometric-based digital health systems in primary healthcare settings to enhance patient satisfaction.
