Abstract

Seaweed is a fishery commodity that has high economic value because it contains carrageenan which can be used in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, and industrial fields. Central Sulawesi Province is the second largest seaweed producer in Indonesia after South Sulawesi Province. The genetic diversity of seaweed in Central Sulawesi has not been studied much. Therefore, molecular-based characterization activities to identify the genetic variation of seaweed in the province are urgently needed. The purpose of the study was to optimize PCR techniques based on targeted start codon markers (SCoT markers) to identify the genetic diversity of seaweed accessions from Central Sulawesi Province. The results showed that the parameters for seaweed PCR amplification have been optimized. Of the fifteen SCoT primers, 10 of them can work to amplify seaweed DNA collected from several regions in Central Sulawesi. This is shown by the production of PCR result amplicons. PCR results also indicate polymorphism from the seaweed samples tested, although some seaweed samples have not been successfully amplified. The parameters of the PCR technique still need to be improved, especially the concentration of DNA prints, so that valid PCR results will be obtained for use in identifying seaweed genetic diversity.

Abstract

North Morowali Regency is one of the regions in Central Sulawesi Province that has prospects for developing seaweed aquaculture activities. The study aims to analyze the technical and financial feasibility of seaweed cultivation in Petasia Timur District. The data collection method is carried out by observation and interviews covering the technical and financial aspects of seaweed cultivation. North Morowali Regency has a fairly large cultivation location, especially in East Petasia District. However, in recent years there has been  a decrease in production due to problems with the quality of sea water. This study aims to analyze the technical feasibility of seaweed cultivation. The results showed that the water quality parameter data obtained from 3 sampling villages in East Petasia Timur District, namely Ungkea Village with a score of 53,3%, Bungintimbe Village 55,5%, and Towara Pantai Village 53,3%. In general, the value is below the range of water feasibility, so that the cultivation sites in the three sampling villages are said to be less suitable for seaweed growth.

Abstract

Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak lima kali sehingga didapat 25 unit. Setiap unit percobaan menggunakan tiga tanaman, jadi total terdapat 75 tanaman satuan pengamatan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa panjang entres 3 cm memiliki waktu awal bertaut tercepat yaitu 11,87 hari tetapi tingkat keberhasilan hidup rendah, sedangkan panjang entries 11 cm memiliki waktu awal bertaut 15,00 hari cm, persentase keberhasilan bertaut 100%, panjang tunas yaitu 5,34 cm, jumlah daun 7,05 helai dan persentase keberhasilan penyambungan yaitu 100%.

Abstract

Fertilizer is one of the strategic elements that plays a role in increasing productivity and unity part of the farming system. The current difficulty for farmers is the scarcity and inaccessibility of fertilizer subsidies, forcing them to seek alternatives to reduce fertilizer purchase costs. An alternative that can be used with organic fertilizer, which can be made using cow dung and aren plant waste, is bokashi fertilizer. The purpose of implementing this Community Service Program is to provide information related to technological innovations in processing aren waste and animal manure as organic fertilizer/compost to increase farmers' income and its application on plants. The implementation method of the activity includes preparation such as location surveys, discussions and explanations on bokashi fertilizer production, outreach and training through material presentation and demonstrations/practice on how to make bokashi fertilizer, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results of the activity show a significant increase in knowledge and skills among the Bukit Harapan farmer group participants. Before the implementation of the community service activity, the partners' knowledge of waste processing as organic fertilizer was only 4.43%. After the community service activities, the partners' skills increased to 92.29%. The results of the mentoring for the Bukit Harapan Farmers Group were successfully achieved. This is evident from the bokashi, which is mature, has a dark color, a fine texture, and is odorless.

Abstract

Mantikulore sub-district has the potential to develop both capture fisheries and aquaculture businesses, but is still hampered by several challenges including the lack of qualified human resources, lack of business capital, and insufficient knowledge of technological information. The objective of this research is to assess the potentials and challenges and to identify appropriate strategies for the development of capture fisheries and aquaculture enterprises. The research methods used are survey and interview methods. The primary research data collected include internal factors (IFAS) and external factors EFAS, while secondary data covers facilities and infrastructure available to fishermen and fish farmers as well as production data for  fishing and aquaculture.. The study took place between September and December 2023. Data analysis used SWOT and AHP analysis to determine strategies for developing capture fisheries and aquaculture businesses. The quadrant analysis results show that the capture fisheries business falls under a stable strategy, with values of -0.25 and 0.35, whereas the aquaculture business is situated within a growth strategy, with values of 0.12 and 0.18. According to the AHP's assessment, three top alternative strategies are suitable to be implemented in the context of developing fisheries businesses in Mantikulore District; which include increasing use of fishing tools, improving fleet and fishing equipment capabilities, and exploring  new alternative livelihoods technique
