Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance public knowledge and skills in managing hypertension through the utilization of local medicinal plants integrated with local wisdom and scientific approaches. The program was conducted in Kualu Nenas Village, Kampar Regency, involving 20 participants using a descriptive cross-sectional design. The intervention included health education, interactive discussions, and demonstrations on preparing a ginger–pineapple wellness shot as a functional beverage. The results showed that 100% of participants were aware of the benefits of medicinal plants and had experience in preparing herbal remedies, while 90% reported having medicinal plants in their home gardens and routinely using them for maintaining health. In addition, 95% of participants used herbal remedies to treat minor illnesses, and 100% acknowledged the existence of hereditary traditional knowledge in their families. However, only 65% of participants utilized herbal medicine for managing degenerative diseases such as hypertension. Post-education observations indicated increased understanding of hypertension, its risk factors, and the rational use of medicinal plants, supported by high participant engagement during the activities. The combination of participatory education and practical demonstration proved effective in bridging the gap between traditional knowledge and scientific understanding. Therefore, this approach is recommended as a sustainable promotive and preventive strategy to improve community health behavior and optimize the rational use of local medicinal resources.

Abstract

Thai tea is a tea-based beverage originating from Thailand that has gained global popularity. The key benefit of tea for health lies in its bioactive compounds, especially polyphenols, which are predominantly found in tea leaves. The DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method is a simple and widely used analytical method for measuring antioxidant activity, as it is relatively easy, fast, and inexpensive. This study aims to evaluate the antioxidant activity of Thai tea beverages using the DPPH method. The research method used is experimental with a laboratory approach. The procedure includes the preparation of a DPPH solution, determination of the maximum wavelength of DPPH, measurement of blank solution absorbance, preparation of Quercetin as a standard solution, preparation of Thai tea test samples, and data analysis. The results showed the IC50 (Inhibitory Concentration) values for Thai Tea Sippin Original (47.56 ppm), Thai Tea Chatime Original (52.23 ppm), Thai Tea Kopi Kenangan Original (50.85 ppm), Thai Tea Es Teh Original (56.66 ppm), Thai Tea Dum-dum Original (54.73 ppm), and Quercetin standard (42.05 ppm). The results indicate that Thai tea beverages have antioxidant activity categorized as strong, particularly for Sippin Original, Chatime Original, Dum-dum Original, and Kopi Kenangan Original samples, while Sippin Original and the Quercetin standard are classified as very strong. Abstract

Health service financing through the INA-CBG's (Indonesia Case-Based Groups) system aims for efficiency and transparency in the National Health Insurance (JKN) system. However, in practice, there are often discrepancies between INA-CBG's rates and the real costs incurred by health facilities, especially in oncology patients with Morphine Sulfate (MST) therapy. This study aims to analyze the comparison of real costs and INA-CBG's tariffs for oncology outpatients with morphine sulfate therapy (MST) at RSUD Arifin Achmad Riau Province. This study used descriptive observational research method with retrospective data collection obtained from medical records of oncology outpatients who received Morphine Sulfate (MST) therapy 10 mg and 15 mg tablets during the period January-March 2024. The data were analyzed by comparing the real costs incurred by the hospital with the rates paid by BPJS through the INA-CBG's system and the Mann-Whitney U test was performed. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference between real costs and INA-CBG's tariffs. The average real cost of drugs (MST) was higher than the INA-CBG's tariff. The real cost of drugs that exceeded the INA-CBG's tariff amounted to 481 people, with a total cost difference (loss) of IDR 218,155,324. There was a difference between real costs and INA-CBG's rates (p = .047) and INA-CBG's rates (p = .113).
