Abstract

Adolescents with disabilities often encounter barriers in accessing reproductive health information. Teachers in special education settings play a crucial role in delivering such education; however, many lack adequate knowledge and appropriate teaching media. This study aimed to determine the effect of digital flipchart training on special school teachers knowledge about reproductive health education for adolescents with disabilities. A pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test–post-test design was conducted among 160 teachers from special schools (SLB) in Bantul regency. A pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test–post-test design was conducted among 160 teachers from special schools (SLB) in Bantul Regency. The intervention consisted of a one-day training session using a digital flipchart containing interactive reproductive health materials adapted for students with disabilities. Teachers’ knowledge was measured using a 20-item questionnaire that had demonstrated good content validity through expert review and high internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.85) before and after the training. Data were analyzed using the paired sample t-test. Results: The mean pre-test score was 5.40 ± 0.59, which increased to 5.63 ± 0.63 in the post-test (t = 2.04, p = 0.048). These findings indicate that the LEBAD-based training effectively enhanced participants’ understanding of reproductive health education for students with disabilities. Digital flipchart training effectively enhances teachers’ knowledge and supports inclusive reproductive health education in special schools.

Abstract

Complete basic immunization is an essential preventive measure to reduce morbidity and mortality among infants and toddlers. However, limited community knowledge and unfavorable attitudes remain challenges in achieving optimal immunization coverage. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and attitudes toward complete basic immunization through integrated and sustainable community education. An educative–participatory approach with a pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design was applied. Educational activities were conducted through interactive counseling, group discussions, and question-and-answer sessions using educational media. Knowledge and attitudes were measured before and after the intervention using structured questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The results showed an increase in community knowledge from moderate and low levels to predominantly good levels, along with a significant improvement in positive attitudes toward complete basic immunization. Community education proved effective in enhancing understanding and fostering supportive attitudes toward immunization programs. This activity is expected to serve as a sustainable promotive and preventive strategy to support the success of complete basic immunization programs.

Abstract

Household health emergencies may occur suddenly and pose a serious threat to life if not managed promptly and appropriately. Limited community knowledge and preparedness often lead to delays in providing first aid before professional medical care is obtained. This activity aimed to improve community preparedness for household health emergencies through education and simulation. An educative–participatory approach with a pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design was applied. The intervention consisted of interactive health education, discussions, and first aid simulations for common household emergency conditions. Evaluation was conducted using questionnaires and observations before and after the activity and analyzed descriptively. The results demonstrated improvements in community knowledge, attitudes, and preparedness in recognizing and responding to household health emergencies. The combination of education and simulation proved effective in fostering responsive attitudes and increasing community confidence in emergency situations. This activity is expected to support promotive and preventive efforts in creating safer and more responsive household environments toward health emergencies.
