Abstract

Abstract A chronic disease is a long-lasting condition requiring continuous medical care and restricting daily functioning. Two chronic diseases that are experiencing a growing prevalence are hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. As the prevalence of chronic diseases increases, addressing the corresponding increase in quality of life is imperative. Various aspects, including knowledge, self-efficacy, family support, and medication adherence, influence the quality of life. The objective of this study was to establish the correlation between knowledge, self-efficacy, family support, and medication adherence with the quality of life of individuals with chronic diseases in Pekanbaru. This study utilizes an observational analytical strategy incorporating a cross-sectional approach and a correlational analytical methodology. The study was carried out in 15 sub-districts of Pekanbaru utilizing the Accidental Sampling method. The findings of the Spearman Rank test on 247 patients revealed a significant association between self-efficacy, family support, and adherence to medicine with the quality of life of chronic disease patients in Pekanbaru. The p-values for these relationships were 0.000, 0.010, and 0.000, respectively. However, there is no significant correlation between knowledge and the quality of life of chronic patients, as indicated by a p-value of 0.599. This study's findings suggest a significant relationship between self-efficacy, family support, and medication adherence and the quality of life of those with chronic conditions. Keywords: family support, knowledge, medication adherence, quality of life of chronic disease patients, self-efficacy Abstrak Penyakit kronis adalah kondisi jangka panjang yang membutuhkan perawatan medis yang berkelanjutan dan membatasi fungsi sehari-hari. Dua penyakit kronis yang mengalami prevalensi yang meningkat adalah hipertensi dan diabetes melitus tipe 2. Oleh karena prevalensi penyakit kronis meningkat, sangat penting untuk juga menangani peningkatan kualitas hidup yang sesuai. Kualitas hidup dipengaruhi oleh berbagai aspek, termasuk pengetahuan, efisiensi diri, dukungan keluarga, dan kepatuhan obat. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pengetahuan, self-efficacy, dukungan keluarga, dan kepatuhan minum obat dengan kualitas hidup pasien dengan penyakit kronis di Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain analitis observasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional dan desain analitik korelasi. Penelitian dilakukan di 15 kecamatan di Pekanbaru dengan menggunakan metode sampel acak. Hasil dari dari tes Spearman Rank pada 247 pasien diketahui terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara self-efficacy, dukungan keluarga, dan kepatuhan minum obat dengan kualitas hidup pasien penyakit kronis di Kota Pekanbaru dengan p-value 0.000, 0.010 dan 0.000. Namun, tidak ada korelasi yang signifikan antara pengetahuan dengan kualitas hidup pasien kronis, dengan p value 0,599. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara efisiensi diri, dukungan keluarga, dan kepatuhan obat dan kualitas hidup pasien dengan penyakit kronis. Abstract

GgGA manifestasinya mulai dari yang ringan tanpa gejala hingga yang sangat berat dengan gagal organ multiple. Angka kematian akibat GgGA pasien di ICU 20-70%, dan diruangan biasa 25-80%. Sepsis dan syok sepsis merupakan faktor risiko penting terjadinya GgGA. Gangguan ginjal akut sampai saat ini didiagnosis dengan menggunakan nilai kreatinin serum. Padahal diagnosis GgGA dengan menggunakan nilai kreatinin sudah mengalami keterlambatan 48 jam, sedangkan injury sudah dapat dilihat setelah 6 jam dengan menggunakan biomarker. Interleukin 18 (IL-18) adalah sitokin proinlamasi yang terinduksi dalam tubulus proksimal ginjal setelah terjadinya GgGA. Penelitian ini adalah studi prospektif tehadap 50 orang penderita sepsis dengan kadar kreatinin serum < 1,5 mg/dl yang dirawat di bangsal ilmu penyakit dalam RSUP DR.M.Djamil Padang dengan cara konsekutif sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukan IL-18 urin dapat digunakan untuk deteksi dini GgGA pada penderita sepsis.Biomarker IL-18 urin pada waktu 6 jam setelah sepsis untuk mendeteksi GgGA memiliki sensitivitas 77,78%, spesifitas 82,60%, Biomarker IL-18 urin pada waktu 48 setelah sepsis untuk mendeteksi GgGA memiliki sensitivitas 70,37 %, Spesifitas 69,56 %.

Abstract

Background: Hyperglycemia is a medical condition in the form of an increase in blood glucose levels exceeding normal limits. Hyperglycemia is one of the hallmarks of diabetes mellitus (DM). In 2012 diabetes was the direct cause of 1.5 million deaths globally. Where hyperglycemia is ranked second as the highest risk factor for death. Hyperglycemia that is not treated immediately will persist and can cause chronic disease, namely diabetes mellitus. Shallots have high antioxidant activity, antioxidants and quercetin are beneficial for health and can be beneficial for lowering cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Shallots have the potential to inhibit sugar metabolism in the human body, therefore red onions can be used as an anti-hyperglycemic food ingredient. Objective: To determine the effect of red onion extract on reducing blood glucose levels in rats with hyperglycemia. Methods: This study is an experimental study with a pre and post-test control group research design and uses a sample of 30 rats which will be divided into 5 groups randomly with each group consisting of 5 rats including treatment groups I, II, III given onion extract at a dose of 400 mg/kgBB, 600 mg/kgBB and 800 mg/kgBB. The positive control group was given acarbose and the negative control group was given. Observations were carried out for 14 days, data analysis was carried out with the One Way Anova test and continued with the Bonferroni Post Hoct Test. Results: The decrease in blood glucose levels was seen significantly in the treatment group III with a dose of shallot extract 800Kg/BW, with a mean decrease of 103.17±9.23 mg/dl with the administration of shallot extract for 14 days. Conclusion: Shallot extract (Allium ascalonicum L) can reduce blood glucose levels in hyperglycemic rats with a significant decrease in the administration of 8 ml onion extract every day for two weeks.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Hyperglycemia is a condition characterized by an uncontrolled increase in blood glucose levels in the body, which may rise to high levels exceeding >200 mg/dL. The administration of butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea L.) significantly reduced blood glucose levels in alloxan-induced male albino rats compared to the negative control group. This reduction may be attributed to the antidiabetic potential of bioactive compounds present in the butterfly pea flower extract. These findings support the hypothesis that butterfly pea flower extract has a positive effect in reducing blood glucose levels in male albino rats with alloxan-induced diabetes. This study aimed to determine the effect of butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea L.) on blood glucose levels in alloxan-induced male albino rats. The study employed an experimental method with a pretest–posttest design. Male albino rats (Rattus norvegicus) were acclimatized for 7 days and subsequently induced with alloxan. The study was divided into two groups, namely a control group and treatment groups receiving butterfly pea flower extract at doses of 150 mg/kgBW, 300 mg/kgBW, and 450 mg/kgBW. The treatment groups received oral administration of butterfly pea flower extract once daily for 14 days. Blood glucose levels were monitored regularly throughout the study period and were measured on day 15, following the 14-day treatment period. The results of the one-way ANOVA analysis among all experimental groups showed a p-value ≤ 0.05, indicating statistically significant differences. Based on the Bonferroni post hoc test, significant differences were observed between the negative control group and all treatment doses (p ≤ 0.05). In addition, a significant difference was found between the positive control group and the highest treatment dose (450 mg/kgBW).In conclusion, butterfly pea flower extract demonstrated a significant effect in reducing blood glucose levels across all administered dose variations.
