Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the urgency of HOTS in elementary school science learning, the problems in its implementation, and solutions to these problems, so that the goals of HOTS in the 21st century can be achieved. The method used is a literature study of 15 related articles to obtain information related to the objectives that have been set. The results obtained show that HOTS is very important to apply to elementary school science learning, but in its implementation there are still problems including students' lack of high-level thinking abilities, inappropriate assessments, and the use of irrelevant teaching materials. Things that can be done to solve the problem are by applying the concept of a scientific approach, changing the assessment system to an authentic assessment system, and improving the quality of teaching materials so that they are in line with HOTS and the learning objectives formulated by K13 to face the 21st century.

Abstract

Currently, teachers must have the skills to create HOTS-based questions because the government, through the revised edition of the 2013 curriculum policy, states that the taxonomy of thinking is taught at all levels of education. The aim of creating HOTS-based questions is to prepare students to have logical, critical and creative thinking qualifications that are able to foster reasoning processes based on the complexity of dynamic changes in society. The process of creating HOTS-based questions is: 1) determining the goal of the questions to be achieved by students, which consists of: a) the ability to search and study information, b) connecting various information relationships, and c) applying information to solve problems, 2) creating questions that are able to develop students' reasoning abilities, which consist of various activities, namely: a) exploring, b) analyzing, c) synthesizing, d) evaluating, e) developing reasoning abilities when obtaining information, and f) critical thinking

Abstract

Research on the integration of spiritual values in Indonesian education has grown considerably; however, its research trends, development patterns, and existing gaps have not been comprehensively synthesized. This study aims to synthesize empirical findings, map research trends, identify research gaps, and propose future research directions concerning the integration of spiritual values in Indonesian education. A Systematic Literature Review following the PRISMA guidelines was employed. The reviewed articles were collected from SINTA-indexed national journals published within the last five years. From approximately 1,000 initially identified articles, 19 studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using descriptive and thematic approaches. The findings reveal that existing studies are predominantly qualitative and focus on primary education, emphasizing religious habituation, teacher role modeling, school culture, and the integration of spiritual values into Islamic Religious Education and Science learning. Most studies remain at the descriptive–exploratory and interpretative–reflective stages, while experimental research, instructional model development, digital technology integration, AI, and spiritual reasoning remain largely unexplored. These findings indicate the need for more transformative research that integrates spiritual values with digital pedagogy, AI, and ethical dimensions of learning. This review provides a comprehensive overview of current research and offers a foundation for future research agendas on spiritual value integration in Indonesian education.

Abstract

The challenges of 21st-century education demand a fundamental transformation in how prospective elementary school teachers understand and teach science. This study aims to identify the scientific literacy profile of elementary school teacher education (PGSD) students at STKIP Al Hikmah Surabaya as a baseline for developing AI-assisted learning media. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method with a survey design involving 68 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a standardized two-tier multiple-choice test adapted from PISA 2018 and TOSLS frameworks, covering content, process, and context dimensions. The results indicated that the majority of students (70.59%) reached the "High" category, while 26.47% were in the "Moderate" category. However, a significant disparity was found across dimensions: the content dimension showed a wide score range (55–85, mean 71), while the process dimension recorded the lowest individual score of 42 (mean 67). These findings suggest that while the overall average is sufficient, there is a sharp competency gap in conceptual mastery and scientific inquiry skills among individuals. Consequently, this study recommends the development of AI-Assisted Inquiry modules in the next phase of the research roadmap to provide personalized learning paths and scaffolding, specifically addressing the identified weaknesses in the process and content dimensions to ensure the quality of future science educators.

Abstract

Screencast is a learning medium that records part or all activities on a computer screen accompanied by audio narration providing explanations or instructions aligned with the on-screen actions. This medium is considered effective in supporting the learning process, particularly for delivering procedural content, demonstrations, and reinforcing learners’ understanding. This article aims to examine the implementation of screencast in learning through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The review synthesizes findings from previous studies to provide a comprehensive overview of implementation practices, benefits, and challenges of using screencast across various learning contexts. The literature sources were derived from scholarly articles and academic documentation published in reputable and credible journals. The results of this review are expected to contribute both theoretically and practically to the development of technology-enhanced learning strategies and to serve as a reference for educators in optimizing the use of screencast to improve the quality of learning.
