Abstract

National disintegration is a major and complex problem currently being faced by the Indonesian nation. This study aims to provide a new perspective on national disintegration, namely through the perspective of Pancasila philosophy. Pancasila philosophy as a fundamental philosophy of the nation that contains noble values in each of its principles is able to provide a framework for thinking that can be used to critically analyze the nature, main causes, and efforts to prevent and handle national disintegration. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach. The results of this study show that national disintegration in the perspective of Pancasila philosophy is a state of disunity of a nation that should be a complete unity due to the erosion of the noble values of Pancasila in the life of the nation and state. Then based on the formulation of Pancasila philosophy, the main causes of the problem of national disintegration are economic inequality, low digital literacy, lack of tolerance and mutual respect, and abuse of power. Furthermore, the formulation of efforts to prevent and handle national disintegration based on the Pancasila philosophy is to build tolerance and mutual respect among diversity, increase the sense of humanity, build good Pancasila democracy, foster and strengthen the sense of national unity and togetherness, increase awareness and education about the importance of Pancasila values.

Abstract

Social media has become a dominant digital environment for political communication and civic engagement, particularly among young people who represent the largest proportion of voters in Indonesia. However, despite widespread digital connectivity, youth political participation remains inconsistent, highlighting the need to better understand the role of social media in political socialization within the Society 5.0 framework. This study aims to examine how social media contributes to strengthening youth political participation through political socialization. A qualitative literature review was conducted by systematically analyzing peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, official reports, and publicly accessible digital sources related to social media, political participation, and Society 5.0. The collected data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, encompassing data reduction, data display, thematic coding, interpretation, and verification. The findings indicate that social media facilitates political learning by expanding access to political information, encouraging interactive civic dialogue, and promoting democratic engagement among young citizens. Platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and AI-assisted political communication initiatives demonstrate considerable potential to strengthen political awareness when supported by credible information and adequate digital literacy. This study contributes to the literature by integrating political socialization, digital political communication, and the Society 5.0 perspective into a comprehensive conceptual framework while providing practical insights for policymakers, educational institutions, electoral management bodies, and civil society organizations in designing more effective digital political education strategies.

Abstract

This article examines how the complex relationship between politics, identity, and education in the history of civic education in Indonesian curriculum through a qualitative research method with a historical study approach. This research finds that the relationship between politics, identity, and education greatly influences how civic education is implemented in Indonesia. This is evident in the change of government followed by a change in the education curriculum which then also has an impact on changes in civic education. Therefore, patterns of government change always have an impact on the dynamics of the civic education curriculum. The material and implementation of civic education subjects are often adjusted to the vision and mission of the government in order to create citizens who identify and behave in accordance with the needs of the government in facing various challenges of nation and state in various eras of government. In conclusion, the name changes in civic education is not merely administrative, but rather reflect how civic education in Indonesia has always been synonymous with politic as a regime tool for legitimacy, identity to strengthen Pancasila as the foundation of the state, and education as a process of evolution from verbal indoctination to the formation of a more holistic democratic character of Indonesia citizens.

Abstract

Settlement scholarship has increasingly addressed sustainability, resilience, governance, and socio-ecological change, yet it still tends to treat settlement primarily as a spatial or functional system. Citizenship research, by contrast, examines participation, belonging, responsibility, institutions, and public life, but rarely theorizes permanent settlement as the enduring socio-spatial setting in which these civic relations are produced. This article develops Civic Settlement as an integrative conceptual framework linking these literatures. Using a Narrative Literature Review, the study compares and synthesizes interdisciplinary scholarship on human settlements, citizenship, civic culture, governance, sustainability, community development, and civilization. The synthesis identifies five interrelated dimensions: human; cultural and spiritual; governance and political; spatial-ecological; and economic and knowledge. Together, these dimensions explain how permanent communities organize belonging, shared values, institutions, environmental relations, productive activity, learning, and intergenerational continuity. Civic Settlement is therefore conceptualized as a permanent human living system in which people collectively transform inhabited space into an organized civic environment. The framework contributes a relational account of settlement that connects everyday community life with sustainable human habitat and longer-term processes of civilizational continuity, while remaining a conceptual proposition that requires empirical validation across diverse contexts.
