Abstract

Background. The increasing complexity of student needs in the digital age requires school counselors to adopt innovative approaches that move beyond traditional problem-solving frameworks. Design Thinking (DT), originally applied in business and technology, offers a human-centered and iterative process that emphasizes empathy, creativity, and collaboration, making it highly relevant for modern counseling practices. Purpose. This study aimed to develop and examine a student-centered counseling model based on Design Thinking. Specifically, it sought to investigate how DT principles—empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test—can be systematically integrated into school counseling to enhance students’ problem-solving skills, emotional resilience, and engagement in a digital learning environment. Method. A qualitative design-based research approach was employed, involving 45 school counselors and 120 high school students across three urban schools. Data were collected through focus group discussions, reflective journals, and digital platform interactions, and were analyzed thematically to construct the proposed model. Results. The findings demonstrate that the integration of Design Thinking in counseling promotes higher student engagement, encourages collaborative exploration of solutions, and improves adaptability in addressing personal, academic, and socio-emotional challenges. Counselors reported that the DT model helped them better understand student perspectives, while students valued the iterative process that allowed them to test and refine their solutions. Conclusion. This study highlights the potential of Design Thinking as a transformative model for school counseling in the digital age. By shifting from counselor-centered to student-centered practices, DT provides a structured yet flexible framework that empowers students to become active participants in resolving their own problems, thus fostering autonomy and lifelong problem-solving skills.

Abstract

Digital transformation has accelerated economic growth and social connectivity, yet persistent digital inequalities continue to marginalize vulnerable communities from meaningful participation in the digital economy. Access to infrastructure alone has proven insufficient to ensure inclusive socioeconomic development, as disparities in digital literacy, institutional support, and local innovation capacity remain significant barriers. This study aims to examine how community-based digital innovation initiatives contribute to bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusive socioeconomic outcomes. A mixed-methods, multi-site comparative design was employed involving 180 participants across three underserved regions. Quantitative data were collected through digital literacy assessments and socioeconomic surveys, while qualitative insights were obtained through interviews, focus groups, and field observations. Inferential statistical analyses revealed significant improvements in digital literacy, income levels, employment stability, and entrepreneurial engagement (p < 0.001). Regression results indicated that digital literacy gains significantly predicted income growth, while qualitative findings highlighted the mediating role of participatory governance and social capital. The study concludes that community-based digital innovation serves as an effective structural mechanism for translating digital access into sustainable economic empowerment. Integrating grassroots capacity-building with digital infrastructure investment is essential for achieving equitable and resilient socioeconomic development in digitally evolving societies.

Abstract

Background. (The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) within legal systems has significantly transformed how legal decisions are supported, formulated, and justified. AI-driven tools are now used in areas such as risk assessment, case prioritization, sentencing support, and legal analytics, raising fundamental ethical and practical concerns regarding transparency, fairness, and accountability. Purpose. This study aims to examine the impact of AI on legal decision-making processes by analyzing both its operational benefits and its ethical implications within contemporary legal institutions. Method. The research employs a qualitative–analytical design that integrates doctrinal legal analysis, ethical evaluation, and empirical examination of documented AI-assisted legal practices. Data were collected from secondary legal sources, policy documents, case studies, and expert analyses to identify patterns of AI influence on judicial reasoning and institutional behavior. Results. The findings reveal that AI-assisted decision-making enhances procedural efficiency and consistency, particularly in high-volume legal contexts, but simultaneously introduces challenges related to opacity, automation bias, and diminished explainability.   Conclusion. The study concludes that AI functions as a powerful decision-support instrument that reshapes legal reasoning while remaining dependent on human oversight for legitimacy and justice. Effective integration of AI in legal decision-making requires robust ethical frameworks, transparent governance mechanisms, and sustained human responsibility to ensure that technological advancement supports, rather than undermines, fundamental legal values.

Abstract

Background. The rise of hybrid learning models in higher education has highlighted the need for flexible, scalable, and context-aware digital learning environments capable of supporting continuous language learning beyond classroom boundaries. Purpose. This study aims to design and evaluate a cloud-based ubiquitous learning environment tailored for a hybrid university language course to enhance learner autonomy, engagement, and communicative competence.   Method. Employing a design-based research methodology, the study involved iterative cycles of analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation with 42 undergraduate language learners. Data were collected through system usage analytics, pre- and post-course proficiency assessments, and learner experience surveys. Results. The results indicate significant improvements in vocabulary retention, listening comprehension, and task-based communication skills, accompanied by increased learner satisfaction with the flexibility and responsiveness of the system. Conclusion. The study concludes that a cloud-based ubiquitous learning environment can meaningfully enhance hybrid language instruction by integrating mobility, accessibility, and real-time support into traditional course structures.
