Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Food security is a strategic issue in regional development, particularly in agrarian areas such as Ciamis Regency, which faces challenges such as declining food production, land conversion, distribution inefficiencies, and increasing food needs due to population growth. This study aims to analyze strategies for improving local-based food security in Panawangan District, specifically in Girilaya and Kertayasa Villages, through a multidimensional approach encompassing aspects of food availability, accessibility, distribution, and utilization. The study used a mixed method with primary data collection through household surveys and in-depth interviews, as well as secondary data from relevant government agencies. A total of 60 respondents were selected using a random sampling technique. Priority strategies were determined through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with stakeholders, then analyzed using the Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) method with the PROMETHEE approach. The results of the analysis indicate that the strategy of providing incentives to local farmers and traders (Type III) is the most optimal alternative in improving regional food security because it has the highest contribution to increasing income, actor acceptance, and logistics efficiency. Sensitivity analysis shows that this strategy remains superior across most weighting criteria changes, while regulatory strategies and strengthening healthy food consumption programs demonstrate high levels of long-term policy stability. The study's findings confirm that a combination of regulatory-based strategies, economic incentives, and strengthening local food institutions is the most effective and sustainable approach to strengthening food sovereignty in Ciamis Regency.

Abstract

The pronunciation of scientific plant names in the Plant Taxonomy course is a challenging topic for students. Traditional teaching methods that rely on rote memorization hinder students’ understanding of the course material; furthermore, limited technology in the program reduces students’ active engagement. This study aims to improve students’ ability to pronounce scientific plant names by integrating the Android-based Prombot app with the Cooperative Script method. The study was conducted in the Biology Education program at the University of Jember with two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The results showed that the experimental group demonstrated a significant improvement in pronunciation compared to the control group. The developed learning medium received high validity scores (89.58% for content, 83.33% for learning, and 94.56% for the medium itself). An ANCOVA test revealed a significant difference in the effect of the learning media, with a p-value of 0.00, a value less than 0.05 indicating that, after controlling for pretest scores, the A-Props-Prono Mobile media significantly influenced students’ final motivation.

Abstract

Morphological characteristics are an important aspect of plant identification and can serve as a basis for the development of horticultural cultivation technologies. This study aims to identify and describe the morphological characteristics of various types of horticultural vegetables based on their vegetative and generative traits. The research method employed a descriptive exploratory approach with purposive sampling through direct observation of nine types of horticultural vegetables (bird's eye chili, cucumber, tomato, water spinach, lettuce, common bean, celery, mustard greens, and basil) cultivated by farmers around Siliwangi University Campus II Mugarsari, Tasikmalaya, from March to May 2025. The observed parameters included characteristics of the stems, leaves, and flowers in accordance with guidelines for plant morphological description. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively by comparing the similarities and differences in morphological characteristics among plant species. The identification results show that each type of vegetable plant has distinctive morphological characteristics, particularly in stem shape, leaf shape and arrangement, and flower characteristics, which distinguish the species, including those belonging to the same family. These variations provide important information for species identification, the selection of cultivation techniques, and more effective plant management. Therefore, the identification of morphological characteristics can serve as a scientific reference for the development of horticultural vegetable cultivation, support germplasm characterization, and inform pollination and plant breeding approaches as well as future botanical research.
