Abstract

Diseases are one of the major challenges in crop production which can lead to significant economic losses. Ironically, while having multiple negative impacts, synthetic chemical pesticides are considered the main strategy in tackling plant diseases. Trichoderma asperellum is one of the potential fungal species that can inhibit numerous plant diseases. This study reconfirmed the morphological characteristics of Trichoderma isolates obtained and identified it by molecular techniques. In addition, the inhibitory activity of the isolates was tested in vitro against the mango pathogens Colletotrichum asianum and Diaporthe pseudophoenicicola. The results showed that isolate T4 was identified as Trichoderma asperellum. Isolate T4 was able to inhibit C. asianum and D. pseudophoenicicola by 28.19% and 15.64%, respectively. Therefore, this isolate can be used as a biological agent to control plant pathogens in an environmentally friendly, sustainable manner, and as an alternative to synthetic chemical pesticides.

Abstract

Chitinase enzymes are enzymes that can hydrolyze chitin polymers into chitin oligosaccharides or N-acetylglucosamine synergistically and sequentially. This enzyme is naturally produced by bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals. The magnitude of the potential possessed by chitinolytic bacteria with their living environment spread in various sources, does not rule out the possibility of isolating chitinolytic bacteria from leachate water, shrimp pond water, and rhizosper root soil. This study aims to isolate and identify the morphology of chitinolytic bacterial colonies obtained from the exploration results. The research was conducted with the exploration method and then analyzed descriptively. The results of the study obtained 22 isolates of chitinolytic bacteria from the exploration results with 11 isolates with the code TAC is an isolate from the roots of chili soil, 8 isolates with the code ALT comes from leachate water, and 3 isolates from shrimp ponds coded TUC. The results of morphological observations of bacterial colonies obtained the cell shape of the bacterial colonies were 17 cocci and only 5 were bacilli. Isolates are mostly white with milky white and bone white color and 7 isolates with red and yellow color variations. The results of gram staining showed 10 bacterial isolates were gram negative and 12 isolates were positive with bacterial cell shape mostly cocci.

Abstract

Penyakit antraknosa merupakan salah satu kendala utama dalam budidaya mangga. Penyakit ini sangat merugikan produksi mangga terutama pada saat lepas panen. Gejala antraknosa teramati pada mangga kultivar Golek di gudang simpan petani di Kabupaten Indramayu. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis cendawan fitopatogen penyebab penyakit antraknosa mangga sebagai langkah awal menyusun pengendalian yang efektif. Morfologi cendawan fitopatogen dikarakterisasi secara makroskopis dan mikroskopis. Identifikasi patogen dilakukan dengan teknik molekuler berbasis multilokus dengan penanda wilayah ITS dan gen actin. Cendawan fitopatogen teridentifikasi sebagai Colletotrichum asianum berdasarkan karakterisasi morfologi dan identifikasi molekuler. Anthracnose disease is one of the major obstacles in mango cultivation. This disease is highly detrimental to mango production, especially during the post-harvest period. Symptoms of anthracnose disease were observed on the Golek mango cultivar in the farmer’s warehouse in Indramayu District. The aim of this study was to identify the phytopathogenic fungi that cause mango anthracnose disease as the first step in developing effective control measures. The morphology of the phytopathogenic fungi was characterized both macroscopically and microscopically. Pathogen identification was performed using multilocus molecular techniques with ITS and actin gene region markers. The phytopathogenic fungi were identified as Colletotrichum asianum based on morphological characterization and molecular identification. Koch's postulates of the species were confirmed through a pathogenicity test.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tingginya kasus Stunting di Desa Calingcing, Kecamatan Sukahening, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya. Selain itu, desa ini memiliki potensi lahan produktif yang besar tetapi tingkat konsumsi sayur dan buah oleh masyarakat juga rendah. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah membantu masyarakat khususnya Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Dahlia sebanyak 25 orang agar dapat meningkatkan kemampuanya dalam memanfaatkan lahan pertanian dengan jenis tanaman sayur dan buah melalui teknik hidroponik melalui shading house untuk meningkatkan nilai ekonomis potensi lahan, pendapatan dan ketahanan pangan keluarga. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan pada bulan Juli hingga September 2022. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan melalui kegiatan penyuluhan, demonstrasi dan pendampingan pembuatan isntalasi dan penanaman secara hidroponik. Sistem evaluasi menggunakan kuesioner pree test dan post test. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yaitu (1) Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Dahlia dapan menerapkan pembuatan shading house, perakitan media tanam hidroponik dan menanam ragam buah dan sayur melalui media tanam hidroponik; dan (2) Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dan penerapan keterampilan Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Dahlia terhadap inovasi hidroponik dalam shading house untuk penanaman sayuran dan buah, yaitu sebesar 88%. Hal ini terbukti dengan keberhasilan panen yang dapat dinikmati hasilnya oleh para anggota KWT Dahlia.Abstract: This community service activity was motivated by the high number of stunting cases in Calingcing Village, Sukahening District, Tasikmalaya Regency. Apart from that, this village has large potential for productive land but the level of vegetable and fruit consumption by the community is also low. The main objective of this activity is to help the community, especially the Dahlia Women's Farming Group of 25 people, to increase their ability to utilize agricultural land with types of vegetable and fruit plants using hydroponic techniques through shading houses to increase the potential economic value of land, income and food security. family. Community service activities will be carried out from July to September 2022 on agricultur land of Dahlia Women's Farming Group. The method used is training through outreach activities, demonstrations and assistance in making hydroponic installations and planting. The evaluation system uses pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results of this community service activity are (1) the Dahlia Women's Farming Group can implement the construction of a shading house, assemble hydroponic planting media and plant a variety of fruit and vegetables using hydroponic planting media; and (2) There is an increase in knowledge and application of the skills of the Dahlia Women Farmers Group regarding hydroponic innovation in shading houses for growing vegetables and fruit, namely by 88%. This is proven by the success of the harvest that KWT Dahlia members can enjoy.

Abstract

Land in Tawangsari District, Sukoharjo Regency had a limiting factor in the form of water availability. One of the local commodities cultivated for generations on dry land in this region is gembili (Dioscorea sp.). However, the gembili cultivation process has not produced optimal productivity and is threatened with extinction. Therefore, gembili cultivation and use of dry land need to be optimized by carrying out integrated land management. The aim of utilizing dry land is to increase local food production and sustainability as alternative food and maintain national food security. This research was conducted using data on productivity, quantity and type of fertilizer obtained through interviews with gembili farmers and secondary data on soil types obtained from BPP Tawangsari District, Sukoharjo Regency. The results showed that grumusol and lithosol soil types had no significant effect (p > 0.05) on gembili productivity. Providing organic + inorganic fertilizer with giving organic fertilizer without a combination produced values that were not significantly different (p > 0.05). However, the average productivity results were sequentially from grumusol and lithosol (6.1 ton.ha-1 and 7.1 ton.ha-1). Meanwhile, the use of organic fertilizer is 8.06% higher compared to organic fertilizer + inorganic fertilizer. The results of the multiple regression test for organic fertilizer had a significant effect (p < 0.05) on the productivity of Dioscorea sp..

Abstract

Minyak kelapa murni (VCO) sering kali masih asing di telinga masyarakat umum, padahal VCO memiliki berbagai manfaat bagi kesehatan dan pengembangan ekonomi. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pelatihan pembuatan minyak kelapa murni (VCO) dilakukan untuk membantu masyarakat dalam mengolah kelapa yang menghasilkan produk untuk meningkatkan kesehatan dan keterampilan masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan untuk mencegah penyakit yang umumnya terjadi di masyarakat, seperti obesitas kolesterol, dan mengembangkan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengolah kelapa menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, VCO memiliki khasiat yang baik untuk meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh serta mencegah obesitas dan kolesterol. Selain itu, ketersediaan kelapa yang mudah didapatkan menjadikan hal ini sebagai potensi yang baik untuk dikembangkan sebagai pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat. Pelatihan dan sosialisasi pembuatan VCO ini dilakukan di Desa Cilembang, Kecamatan Cihideung, Kota Tasikmalaya, Jawa Barat. Hasil dari pelatihan pembuatan VCO ini, masyarakat sangat antusias untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan baru dan keterampilan yang berharga tentang pengolahan kelapa menjadi produk kesehatan dalam bentuk VCO dan produk yang bernilai jual tinggi untuk pengembangan ekonomi masyarakat. Kata kunci: Virgin Coconut Oil, Kelapa, Fermentasi, Ibu PKK, Kelurahan Cilembang ABSTRACT Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is often unfamiliar to the general public, even though VCO has various benefits for health and economic development. Community service in the form of training in making virgin coconut oil (VCO) is carried out to assist the community in processing coconut, which produces products to improve health and community skills. This community service activity is carried out to prevent diseases that generally occur in the community, such as cholesterol obesity, and develop community skills in processing coconut into products with high economic value. Based on the research results, VCO has good properties to increase the body's immunity and prevent obesity and cholesterol. In addition, the easy availability of coconut makes this a good potential to be developed as a community economic empowerment. The training and socialization of VCO production was conducted in Cilembang Village, Cihideung District, Tasikmalaya City, West Java. As a result of this VCO-making training, the community is very enthusiastic to gain new knowledge and valuable skills about processing coconut into health products in the form of VCO and high-value products for community economic development. Abstract

Cabai, selain dimakan, dapat pula berfungsi sebagai tanaman hias yang mempunyai nilai keindahan. Berbagai nilai estetika yang dapat diambil antara lain adalah karakter pemendekan ruas, posisi bunga, dan warna buah muda. Pola warisan karakter itu diperlukan untuk pelaksanaan kegiatan seleksi. Informasi itu dimanfaatkan agar proses seleksi menjadi lebih efisien. Ciri pemendekan ruas pada tanaman cabai akan menjadikan bentuk tajuknya menjadi perdu, hal ini tentunya sangat menarik karena buah cabai akan terkelompok, posisi bunga dan warna buah muda juga dapat meningkatkan keindahan tanaman cabai hias. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai pola pewarisan karakter kualitatif yang berhubungan dengan pemendekan ruas, posisi bunga, dan warna buah muda sebagai kriteria seleksi dalam proses pemilihan calon cabai hias. Tanaman yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah populasi tetua betina (P1) Seroja IPB yang memiliki karakter pemendekan ruas, posisi bunga tegak, dan warna buah hijau kekuningan, sedangkan tetua jantan (P2) Peter Pepper memiliki karakter buah berwarna hijau tua dan bentuk buah yang unik. Populasi dari tanaman cabai yang digunakan terdiri dari P1, P2, F1, dan F2. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji Chi-kuadrat untuk menetapkan rasio Mendel dalam populasi F2. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan semua karakter yang dipengaruhi oleh satu gen. Seluruh karakter diatur oleh satu gen dengan rasio 3 (dominan): 1 (resesif). Karakter pemendekan ruas, posisi bunga tegak, dan warna buah hijau tua adalah karakter yang bersifat resesif. Karakter resesif ini akan berguna sebagai kriteria seleksi karena tanaman hasil seleksi yang ditanam di generasi berikutnya tidak akan mengalami segregasi, sehingga tanaman akan lebih cepat seragam.
