Abstract

This study aims to find out the utilization of organic household waste. The approach method for the implementation of community service activities kkn-ppm padaskema includes workshop methods (training) discussions, and question and answer, this method is done so that the community, especially the youth get knowledge how to process inorganic waste, from unused goods to something that can be of economic value, and also the impact of waste care itself will create a clean and healthy environment..

Abstract

This study aims to examine the survival and growth of chrysanthemum plants on Arduino-based automatic watering. The procedure of this research included making the ardiuno uno automatic watering device, planting potted chrysanthemum, testing the tool and collecting data on the growth and humidity of potted chrysanthemum. The experiment consisted of 2 treatments, namely watering using an Arduino software based on a humidity sensor and manual watering. The plant varieties used in this study were yellow standard chrysanthemum, red standard chrysanthemum and white standard chrysanthemum. After the plants were 2 weeks after planting (MST), vegetative growth was measured once a week for 7 weeks. Survival analysis was carried out by calculating the percentage of live and dead individual watering results. Growth analysis was performed by multivariete cluster analysis and bioplots using the paleontological statistics (PAST) program. The results of the calculation of the survival percentage show that the watering that has the best survival is arduino uno(DA) watering with 83% and the survival from manual watering (KO) is 80%. The results of the adaptation similarity analysis based on growth characteristics can be grouped into 2 parts. The first group with adaptive characters were DA-SP, KO-SP, KO-SK and DA-SK. The second group with more adaptive characters were DA-SM and KO-SM.

Abstract

Long beans (Vigna sinensis L.) are a type of vegetable crop that has been cultivated for a long time and is one of the plants that are widely consumed by the people of Indonesia One of the barriers to the productivity of long beans is pest attacks. One of the efforts made by farmers to control pests is by using insecticides. Conventional pest control began to be abandoned and switched to control based on the concept of PHT to reduce the negative impact of the use of pesticides by using yellow trap trap media. This study aims to determine the diversity of insects, this study identifies insects on long bean farmland that are interested in the color of traps that have been installed in 5 places systematically. The diversity of insects found in this study is 20 families. It consists of Chrysomelidae, Coccinellidae, Scarabidae, Reduvidae, Alydidae, Satyridae, Blattellidae, Tachinidae, Agromyzidae, Drosophildae, Tephritidae, Muscidae, Acrididae, Ichneumonidae, Formicidae, Braconidae, Cicadellidae, Aphididae, Pyralidae, and Pentatomidae. The value of the insect diversity index (H') in semi organic is 2.50 and anorganic is 2.58. The dominance on semi organic is 0.101 and anorganic is 0.103 which means low. This shows that the land has a variety of insect species and no insect species dominate.

Abstract

Sumberagung Megaluh Jombang Village, where the majority of the population work as farmers. The technique of cultivating catfish in buckets is still classified as a new innovation and is relatively unknown to the public. This community service activity aims to provide information on cultivation using the technique of cultivating fish in buckets, which is also called BUDIKDAMBER. This technique has advantages in land use for cultivating catfish and pokcoy vegetables using buckets and does not require large areas of land. This cultivation uses quite economical media such as used buckets, used plastic cups, a little water, and is easy to move. The activity will be carried out in October 2022. Starting with the survey stage, discussions with the community, procurement of tools and materials, training, to evaluation and monitoring of cultivation results. Conducting the Budikdamber training with PKK women in groups, the division of 30 members was divided into 5 groups so that each group had 6 PKK members, each group received 40 catfish seeds and 8 plastic cups of pakcoy horticultural vegetables. The results of the activity evaluation questionnaire showed that 27.79% of partners "agreed" and 66.67% of partners "strongly agreed" with budikdamber. Partners also become more aware of the stages in making and preparing buddhadamber. In addition, partners also understand and are interested in trying the Budikdamber technique using other types of vegetables such as pakcoy. The results of this cultivation are successfully used to meet the daily food needs of the community. Although it still requires management and greater capital in order to become an alternative livelihood, this cultivation method is sufficient to increase activity and maintain family food security

Abstract

Kopen Dukuh, a village in Banyuwangi District, was previously known for its rich biodiversity. However, human activities, including plant exploitation and stone quarrying, have caused significant environmental damage. To address this issue, restoration efforts through agroforestry planting were implemented to improve the ecosystem and meet community needs. Monitoring the success of restoration was conducted by observing arthropods using three methods: the Berlese-Tullgren method for soil arthropods at a depth of 10 cm, pitfall traps for ground-surface arthropods, and aerial traps for airborne arthropods. Observations were distributed across 20 plots: 10 in restored areas (R) and 10 in un-restored areas (U). The results identified 41 arthropod families, with 34 families found in restored areas and 22 families in un-restored areas. The diversity index (H') indicated that restored areas had a relatively high diversity (H': 2.22, dominance value S: 0.8), while un-restored areas had a moderate diversity (H': 2.00, dominance value S: 0.87). Restored areas also showed improved environmental parameters, including higher soil moisture (85%), optimal soil temperature (22.81°C), a near-neutral pH (6.12), and increased organic carbon content (7.05%). In contrast, un-restored areas had lower soil moisture (78%), similar soil temperature (22.78°C), more acidic pH (4.8), and slightly lower organic carbon content (6.79%). The QBS index, which uses arthropods as bioindicators, further supported these findings. Restored areas exhibited higher QBS values (30–46) compared to un-restored areas (26–32), indicating better soil biological quality. These results demonstrate that agroforestry restoration plays a crucial role in improving both biotic and abiotic soil quality, contributing significantly to ecosystem recovery.

Abstract

Coffee plants are a factor in Indonesia's economic growth which implements an agroforestry system. Agroforestry systems and management emphasize effective agricultural systems and consider conservation of natural resources. This research aims to analyze the supporting factors for sustainable agriculture based on coffee plantations, community perceptions in developing sustainable agriculture, and community strategies for sustainable agricultural development in Kalibaru District. The research method uses quantitaive descriptive research with collection methods in the form of observation, inventory and interviews. The data analysis method is in the form of likert scale analysis and SWOT analysis. The study suggests that some communities have already understood the concept of agroforestry with a perception index found under about > 50% of the value-rating category. It deals with the influential aspects of sustainable agricultural development strategies is the natural resource of coffee plantations and community knowledge of sustainable agriculture. However, coffee community knowledge resources with a 67% education percentage in senior high schools, so that knowledge about sustainable agriculture requires moderate help and education for communities. Strategies that can be used to improve sustainable agriculture in Kalibaru District are to increase assistance and education to the community about environmentally friendly sustainable agriculture and the preservation of the agroforestry system in coffee plantations in Kalibaru District.

Abstract

The Bedengan campground is a location with natural conditions that are still natural which is dominated by pine forests. Around the forest, there are orange plantations managed by the local community. To determine the comparison of Arthropod diversity in the two locations, the Pitfall trap, Net, and Barrel turgin methods were used with data analysis using Shannon-Wiener and QBS index. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be seen that there are 11 orders, 29 families and 487 species, while in the orange plantation area there are 7 orders, 10 families and 335 species. In addition, based on the calculation of the Diversity Index (H') and the QBS Index in both areas, there is a significant difference. Pine areas have a higher diversity index value compared to orange plantation areas. High Important Value Index (INP) includes the family Myrmicidae, family Entomobridae, and Cicadelidae, the three arthropod families are types of arthropods that have behaviors that are easily adapted to the environment. Environmental quality has a significant difference in the relatively stable and low pine area, while in the orange plantation area it has a quality that tends to be dry. Abstract

The utilization of organic waste as a raw material for liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) is an environmentally friendly alternative to support sustainable agriculture. Cassava peels contain simple carbohydrates and nutrients that can improve the quality of LOF and promote plant growth. This study aimed to determine the effect of adding cassava peels to vegetable waste-based LOF on the growth of water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica). The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: P0 (control), P1 (LOF + 10% cassava peels), P2 (LOF + 20% cassava peels), and P3 (LOF + 30% cassava peels), each replicated three times. Parameters observed included plant height, leaf number, leaf length, root length, fresh weight, and soil pH. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by LSD test at a 5% significance level. Results showed that adding cassava peels improved plant growth, with P3 giving the best numerical results for most parameters, such as plant height (31.8 cm), leaf length (6.78 cm), and soil pH (8.20). Although not all parameters were significantly different, the overall trend indicated that LOF enriched with cassava peels could improve fertilizer quality and support the vegetative growth of water spinach. Abstract

Rural farming in Gedangan Village, Sumobito District, relies on rice as the staple crop and faces rising labor costs, declining farm labor availability, and weather variability that disrupts timely crop establishment. This community service program addressed these constraints by introducing direct seeding of rice supported by a simple manual tool that delivers more uniform seed spacing. The objectives were to strengthen farmer knowledge, demonstrate a low-cost implement that can be fabricated locally, and reduce dependence on scarce labor while maintaining establishment quality. Using a participatory action research approach, the team coordinated with village leaders and farmer groups, conducted a rapid needs assessment, co-designed and built the tool from local materials, delivered classroom briefings, led a field demonstration with guided practice, and facilitated reflective discussion. Evaluation combined pre and post knowledge tests, observation checklists, and participant feedback. Twenty-three farmers completed the activities. Average knowledge scores increased from 48.7 to 79.4 (scale 0–100), and farmers reported faster planting, more uniform spacing, and reduced seed use. The village received a working prototype for continued use, and farmer leaders committed to replicate the tool and plan a direct-seeding schedule for the next season. The program provides a practical, replicable pathway for smallholders to adopt direct seeding that improves efficiency and supports resilience under labor constraints and variable weather.
