Abstract

Background: The prevalence of high-fat diet consumption that triggered obesity is increasing in last 2 decades. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is associated by the increasing number of inflammation marker, Acute phase protein in blood serum. In type 2 diabetes mellitus, combination of lifestyle and genetic factors is the most influential factors. Due to that fact, person with First Degree Relative ( FDR) in type 2 diabetes mellitus has the higher risk to develop into type 2 diabetes mellitus. T cell is one of leucocyte that has a significance role in adaptive immune response.T cell polarization will show the profile of adaptive immune response in chronic inflammation Objective: This study is purposed to analyse how T cell polarized in First Degree Relative (FDR) subject in risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus with high fat diet treatment. Methods: 30 Non-FDR subjects and 30 FDR subjects who included in parameter inclusion were treated with 250 mL whipping cream per day in 5 days. Pre and post treatment blood collection were tested for blood profile and flowcytometry intraseluler staining. Results: BMI is significantly increasing in Non-FDR subject meanwhile Cholesterol and HDL are significantly increasing in FDR subject. There are no significant changes in T cell subset including Th1, Th2, Th17 and Treg. Conclusion: Short term high fat diet treatment in 5 days increased some metabolic profiles on both group but there are no significantly different changes in T cell polarization.

Abstract

Oxidative stress constitutes a major pathophysiological mechanism in conditions ranging from exercise-induced muscle fatigue to chronic organ damage including diabetic nephropathy and ischemic stroke. Medicinal plants offer therapeutic potential through bioactive compounds that modulate cellular defense pathways. This systematic review evaluated the molecular mechanisms and clinical efficacy of medicinal plants (Kaempferia galanga, Nigella sativa, Panax ginseng, and other herbal formulations) in managing oxidative stress across diverse health contexts. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using reputable databases. Studies measuring oxidative stress biomarkers (MDA, SOD) and cellular signaling pathways (Nrf2, NF-κB, PI3K/AKT) were included. Results showed that N. sativa and K. galanga supplementation in athletes significantly reduced MDA levels and inflammatory cytokines (IL-6), accelerating post-exercise recovery. Bioactive compounds including Ginsenoside Ro and Kaempferide demonstrated organ-protective effects through Nrf2/HO-1 activation, autophagy promotion, and mitochondrial protection in ocular and renal tissues. These findings indicate that medicinal plants exert cytoprotective effects by activating endogenous antioxidant systems. The therapeutic spectrum spanning athletic performance enhancement to chronic organ protection underscores the translational potential of herbal interventions as promising antioxidant agents.

Abstract

Abstract

The integration of traditional medicine into mainstream healthcare systems presents both significant challenges and unique opportunities. This study employs a literature review methodology to examine the current landscape of traditional medicine practices and their potential role within conventional healthcare frameworks. By analyzing various studies, policy documents, and case reports, this paper identifies key barriers to integration, including regulatory issues, lack of standardization, and the prevailing skepticism among healthcare professionals. Additionally, it highlights the opportunities for enhanced patient care through a more holistic approach that combines the strengths of both traditional and modern medical practices. The findings suggest that successful integration requires collaborative efforts among stakeholders, including policymakers, healthcare providers, and traditional medicine practitioners. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the need for comprehensive training programs to educate healthcare professionals about traditional medicine and its benefits, as well as the establishment of regulatory frameworks to ensure safety and efficacy. This paper contributes to the growing discourse on healthcare integration by providing insights into the complexities of merging traditional and modern medical systems and offering recommendations for future research and policy development.
