Abstract

Lokan mussels (Geloina erosa) live at the bottom of sandy and muddy waters. Lokan shell waste is found on many Indonesian beaches and is left unattended by the surrounding community, so a new breakthrough is made to add value to the use of the shell. this study aims to convert waste into materials that can increase pH in water, because there are calcium carbonate (CaCO3) compounds that are useful in the adsorption process. Adsorption is the process of absorbing substances or content such as iron metal (Fe). The pores on the surface of the shell can carry out the adsorption process using a physical method, namely heating at 250 oC and 350 oC to open the pores on the surface. The result of this test is that the shells of lokan shells made and then tested for Ph in water mixed with powder have an increase in value from 5.7 to 7.4 - 8.2. In elemental testing or (XRF) for the lokan shell itself there is the element CaO or Calcium oxide after heating.

Abstract

The final project aims to restore the function of the slotting attachment of the milling machine in the Bangka Belitung State Polman laboratory workshop which was damaged. The repair of the slotting attachment aims to optimize the performance of the slotting so that it can operate normally. The slotting repair process on the milling machine begins with identifying and analyzing the damage using the method 5 whys analysis. The damage found was damage to the slotting component, damage to the eccentric shaft, damage to the bushing, bushing. The repair process carried out was to replace damaged and worn components. From the results of the repair, the slotting attachment was able to function properly again.

Abstract

Lathe transverse slide jamming can disrupt the machining process and reduce the quality of work results, on the Ajax 200 E lathe used, damage was found such as a jammed cross slide through the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RFCA) approach and the 5 Why’s method, finishing that the main cause of damage was that the Cross Screw was bent which caused the slide movement to become jerky. After straightening the Cross Screw, the problem was resolved. Observations showed that the slide movement returned to normal. This study emphasizes the importance of technical documentation and work procedures in preventing further damage.

Abstract

This study aims to repair the cooling and braking systems of the DoAll LT 13 lathe at the Polman Babel Workshop by applying the Corrective Maintenance method. This lathe has been in operation for 28 years and has experienced failures in both the cooling and braking systems, resulting in decreased performance. The repair process began with problem identification using the 5 Why method to find the root causes of the failures. The analysis revealed that the main issues were a non-functional electric motor and the absence of caliper and master cylinder components. The repair steps included replacing the electric motor, installing the cooling hose and valve, and modifying the braking system using spare parts from a Panther vehicle. Testing after the repairs showed that both the cooling and braking systems were functioning properly. This study concludes that the application of Corrective Maintenance is effective in restoring the functionality of the DoAll LT 13 lathe and ensuring the availability of the machine for student practical activities.

Abstract

The welding process is the process of joining two or more metal materials in one unit in the presence of heat energy, the heat energy generated from the welding process can affect the results of the weld. In this study, the parameters used are variations in welding current and the number of layers and passes, the welding current used is 65A penetration, 95A fill-capping, 65A penetration, 115A fill-capping, 65A penetration, 125A fill-capping and the number of layers and passes required. used are 4 layer 7 pass and 4 layer 9 pass with DCEP (Direct Current Electrode Positive) polarity. In this study, a bending test analysis was carried out on ST37 steel welding using SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding) welding with a welding position of 1G. The purpose of this study was to determine the compressive strength of ST37 steel after the SMAW welding process with bending testing. The method used in the bending test uses the three point bending method. From the results of the bending test, the highest compressive load strength occurred at a welding current of 65A penetration, 125A fill-capping with 4 layers 7 passes, with a suppression load of 75.8kg.

Abstract

Welding is the process of joining two or more metal materials into a single unit in the presence of heat energy. SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) welding is the process of joining two or more materials using wrapped electrodes as heat energy to melt the material. In SMAW welding there is the use of layers and passes. In this study, welding with variations of pass will be carried out using SMAW welding on St37 steel with 1G welding position. The pass variations used in welding are 6 passes, 7 passes, and 8 passes. The electrodes used were 2.6 mm diameter E7016 and 3.2 mm diameter E7018 electrodes. To determine the impact of pass variations on the welding results, an impact test will be carried out. From the results of research that has been done that welding with a small number of passes has a better amount of energy than welding with a large number of passes. Likewise for the impact price, welding with a small number of passes has a better impact price than welding with a large number of passes.

Abstract

Brazing is a method of joining metal materials through a heating process using an adhesive or filler that has a lower melting point than the melting point of the material to be joined. Oxy-acetelyne welding is a manual welding process where the metal surface to be joined is heated until it melts by an acetylene gas flame through the combustion of C2H2 and O2 with or without filler metal where the joining process is without pressure. In this study using an experimental method. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact strength of low carbon steel after the brazing process with variations in flame and root gap. The variations of the flame used are oxidation flame, neutral flame and carburizing flame with a root gap of 0.4mm, 0.6mm, and 0.8mm. The material used in this research is mild steel St37. The added material used is 3mm diameter brass wire. From the research that has been carried out, it shows that the energy absorbed and the impact value on welding after calculation with the highest value on a neutral flame with a Root gap of 0.8 and the lowest value on a carburizing flame with a Root gap of 0.4.
