Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformational leadership mechanisms of principals in building organizational learning in Islamic boarding schools (SMK Pesantren). The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies over six months, then analyzed using iterative thematic analysis techniques. The results show that organizational learning is formed through a multi-layered process that begins with moral legitimacy based on religious values, followed by the development of a participatory vision, the creation of a collective reflective space, and systematic individual development. Transformational leadership functions not only as a leadership style but also as a transformation mechanism that integrates institutional values with modern managerial practices. These findings extend the educational leadership literature by demonstrating that the effectiveness of transformational leadership in the context of Islamic boarding schools is strengthened by moral legitimacy and collective culture. This study contributes theoretically through a processual model that explains the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational learning and practically provides a strategic framework for strengthening the organizational capacity of value-based schools.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic management of educational marketing implemented at MAN Mempawah to enhance the institution’s competitiveness amidst digital disruption. Amidst increasing competition among educational institutions, reliance on single-channel marketing is no longer sufficient; therefore, a hybrid approach is needed. This study used a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the madrasah principal and public relations staff, participant observation of marketing activities, and documentation of digital assets. The findings indicate that: (1) Marketing planning involves meticulous market segmentation and the development of unique value propositions through academic and non-academic excellence, such as specialized technology programs and religious curricula; (2) Implementation strategies rely on the synergy between traditional Word of Mouth (WOM) and modern Digital Branding. While WOM, driven by alumni achievements and community-based social programs (e.g., free medical treatment), builds deep trust, digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube amplify this trust to a wider audience. The study concludes that the integration of “human-touch” social proof into “high-tech” digital narratives creates strong brand equity that significantly influences parental decision-making. The adaptive leadership of the madrasah principal in orchestrating these two poles is a key driver in maintaining the relevance and sustainability of madrasahs in the competitive educational landscape.

Abstract

Public speaking is a crucial skill in foreign language learning, fostering confidence and communicative competence. This study explores the impact of Master of Ceremony (MC) training as a pedagogical tool to enhance Arabic speaking proficiency through a humanistic approach. While previous research has highlighted anxiety and lack of self-confidence as barriers to Arabic language acquisition, limited studies have examined the role of structured MC training in overcoming these challenges. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, conducted at Pondok Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah (Dalwa), where Arabic serves as both a medium of instruction and daily communication. Data collection includes classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and student self-reflections, analyzed thematically to identify linguistic and psychological developments. A total of 30 students with varying proficiency levels and 5 Arabic instructors participated in the study over an eight-week period. The research framework is grounded in Krashen’s Input Hypothesis and Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory, emphasizing meaningful language exposure and social interaction. Findings indicate that MC training significantly enhances students' confidence, fluency, and spontaneous speech production. Participants reported improved pronunciation, structured speech patterns, and greater motivation to engage in public speaking. Additionally, the study reveals a shift in students’ perception of Arabic from a rigid academic subject to a practical communication tool. Compared to traditional speaking exercises, MC training provides real-world communicative experiences, reducing reliance on memorization and fostering linguistic autonomy. This study contributes to Arabic language pedagogy by advocating performance-based learning as an effective strategy to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-life communication. The findings provide valuable insights for language educators, curriculum developers, and policymakers in integrating MC training into Arabic language programs.
