Abstract

Background: Cerebral Palsy is a group of children with movement and posture development disorders caused by brain nerve damage. The development of children with Cerebral Palsy is influenced by the role of parents in caring for and raising them daily. This ability must be based on good and specific knowledge and skills, because cerebral palsy children have many problems and disorders, both from physical, psychological, and social aspects. This knowledge and skills can be obtained from professional health workers. Objective: To determine the effect of physiotherapy education for parents on reducing spasticity in children with spastic type of cerebral palsy. Methods: This is an experimental research with one group pre and post-test design with control which was carried out on parents of children with cerebral palsy at the Forum Buah Hati. Results: The difference test between before and after providing physiotherapy education, obtained a value of p=0.157. Meanwhile, the analysis using different means for each group received a difference in the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) value in the treatment group of 0.33 and the control group of 0.17. Conclusion: There is a less significant effect of providing parental education on reducing spasticity in spastic-type Cerebral Palsy children.

Abstract

Many students believe that speaking is one of the skills that is difficult to do considering that Indonesian people do not use English in their daily lives. In learning, lecturers should use learning methods that are fun, interactive, inspiring, and motivate students to actively participate according to their talents. One method that can be used is storytelling. Storytelling not only involves verbal skills, but also the ability to think critically, organize storylines, and interestingly convey information. This study aims to find out whether the storytelling method affects students’ speaking skills in the Department of Occupational Therapy. The research method used is an experimental quantitative research method with  One group Pre and Post post-test design. The sample involved 90 students of the Department of Occupational Therapy at the Ministry of Health of Surakarta. The data collection technique in this study is the tests. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed that the application of the storytelling method was proven to affect the speaking skills of students majoring in occupational therapy. In conclusion, the storytelling method significantly enhances the students’ speaking skills in the Department of Occupational Therapy.

Abstract

Background: Physically healthy, one of which is the absence of changes in the curvature of the spine in a person. Changes in the curvature of the spine if measured and as early as possible can provide information to the patient and family that there is a curvature of the spine, so that further treatment can be given to prevent the occurrence of a greater degree of curvature of the spine so that it does not experience more severe deformity. Therefore, it is necessary to increase promotive and preventive knowledge of preventing scoliosis or spinal curvature disorders to physiotherapists. Physiotherapists in Karanganyar and Surakarta. Objective: To increase knowledge of scoliosis detection and scoliosis exercises towards the level of knowledge for all physiotherapists at Karanganyar and Surakarta health centers. Benefits: Knowledge of scoliosis detection and scoliosis exercises for all physiotherapists at Karanganyar and Surakarta health centers can be increased so that the expertise of physiotherapists in promotive and preventive measures related to scoliosis detection and scoliosis exercises can be applied to the community. Method: Training related to scoliosis detection and scoliosis exercises using lecture, discussion and demonstration methods, provision of brochures to physiotherapists in 20 Health Centers in Karanganyar Regency and Physiotherapists in 5 Health Centers in Surakarta City, before and after training, physiotherapists were given questions to determine the level of understanding before and after training. Place and time: Training in Karanganyar Regency Campus 2 Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta February - November 2023. Output: the results obtained were an increase in knowledge for physiotherapists in Karanganyar and Sukakarta health centers.

Abstract

Good English language skills are a much-needed skill in today's market share. The Physiotherapy study program also has a high awareness in responding to the importance of English language skills in the current era. Thus, the Physiotherapy study program provides courses that support students' English language skills. The courses are English Physiotherapy and English Conversation. However, 55% of students of the class of 2023 have a pre-test score below the criteria, which is 65. This indicates that the English language skills of Physiotherapy students are still low. This study aims to determine the influence of grammar teaching methods on structural assignments. The design used is the "One Group Pre test – Post test Design" design. The sample of this study is 45 Physiotherapy students. The statistical test used to test the hypothesis is Wilcoxon. The results of the wilcoxon test showed that the use of grammar teaching methods had a significant influence on the results of the structure assignment test in physiotherapy students.

Abstract

The ability to speak in English is an important skill for vocational students, especially in the Department of Physiotherapy of the Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta, considering the need for professional communication with patients and other medical personnel. However, there are still many students who have difficulty speaking actively and confidently. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how well students' speaking abilities are improved by the dialogue task-based learning technique. Using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test in a pretest-posttest design, a quantitative research methodology was employed. For one semester, 110 students who engaged in dialogue-based task-based learning made up the research sample. The Wilcoxon test results revealed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and an increase in scores for all responders. In the context of health vocational education, it can be inferred that the dialogue task-based learning technique is successful in enhancing students' speaking abilities.

Abstract

Flat foot atau kaki datar adalah kondisi ketika lengkung longitudinal medial pada telapak kaki menghilang atau menurun, yang umum terjadi pada anak usia dini. Deteksi dini terhadap flat foot penting dilakukan agar tidak berdampak pada postur tubuh, fungsi gerak, dan perkembangan motorik anak. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melakukan skrining dan edukasi flat foot pada anak usia 4–6 tahun dengan metode sederhana dan murah, yaitu poddo scop flat foot menggunakan kertas dan tinta, atau dikenal sebagai metode “Wet Test” (Tes Jejak Kaki). Skrining dilakukan pada 65 siswa TK yang terdiri dari 33 siswa laki-laki dan 32 siswa perempuan. Pemeriksaan dilakukan dengan mencetak jejak kaki anak menggunakan tinta di atas kertas putih, lalu dianalisis berdasarkan pola lengkung kaki. Hasil skrining menunjukkan bahwa 31 siswa (47,7%) memiliki bentuk kaki normal, 24 siswa (36,9%) teridentifikasi flat foot grade 1, 10 siswa (15,4%) grade 2, dan tidak ditemukan siswa dengan flat foot grade 3. Setelah proses skrining, diberikan edukasi kepada guru dan orang tua mengenai klasifikasi flat foot, dampaknya, serta latihan pencegahan dan koreksi yang dapat dilakukan di rumah. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa skrining menggunakan metode wet test dapat menjadi alternatif pemeriksaan yang efektif dan aplikatif dalam mendeteksi flat foot pada anak usia dini. Edukasi yang diberikan diharapkan mampu meningkatkan pengathuan terhadap pentingnya kesehatan kaki sebagai bagian dari tumbuh kembang anak.

Abstract

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) has caused progressive gait impairment with a high risk of falls in daily activities. Aerobic exercise is effective in improving physical fitness with an impact on cognitive function of gait execution. The benefits of aerobic exercise have not been optimally utilized by PD sufferers. Objectives: This systematic review study aims to know effect of aerobic training exercises on gait balance in PD patients. This study will synthesize article data from randomized control trial (RCT) studies in 5 electronic databases PubMed, Google-Scholar, PEDro, OVID, and ScienceDirect. Article searches using search keywords: "Parkinson's disease" AND (exercise OR training OR "dance exercise" OR "aerobic exercise" OR "treadmill exercise"). Methods: The researcher used the Revman 5.3 program to meta-analysis data with an effect size of value Cohen's d. 334 PD patients in 8 articles included in the meta-analysis. Results: The results of the analysis of 8 articles showed that aerobic training exercise was effective in improving walking balance in PD patients with a large intervention effect (d = -0.78; CI: -1.00 to -0.55; P <0.001) with a control group comparison. Conclusion: The effectiveness of aerobic exercise in improving walking balance is due to increased physical fitness which has an impact on the cognitive function of executing walking activities in PD patients. Abstract

Background: Community service is an integrated program that involves professionals with the community where community empowerment is directly applied from the beginning to the end of the program. This study aims to introduce early childhood to speak English by using story telling. This activity was carried out at TPQ Masjid Baitul Baasyir in Tohudan Village Colomadu Karanganyar. Methods: The activity was held at the TPQ Masjid Baitul Ba'asyir Karanganyar from February to May 2025 and was attended by 15 children and their parents. The implementation is divided into three stages: the preparation stage (story development and creation of supporting materials), the implementation stage (pre-test, introduction of storytelling concepts, storytelling sessions, and post-test), and the evaluation stage (comparison of pre-test and post-test results, as well as observation of children’s participation). Results: The results of the community service evaluation showed an increase in children's English language skills by 3.07, from a pre-test score of 7.13 to a post-test score of 10.2. This improvement included fluency in speaking, vocabulary mastery, and understanding of story structure. Children and parents also showed enthusiasm and active involvement during the storytelling sessions. Conclusion:  The storytelling method has been proven to improve the English language skills of young children. This activity is recommended for wider implementation in non-formal educational institutions such as TPQ and PAUD, and developed through modules and thematic stories, as well as the involvement of parents to strengthen the English language learning process from an early age.

Abstract

Punggung bawah menanggung beban paling besar ketika seseorang melakukan gerakan fungsional, hal ini disebabkan punggung bawah bertindak sebagai aksis sentral dalam melakukan gerakan atau aktivitas fungsional keseharian. Cidera yang mengakibatkan nyeri  punggung bawah (NPB) akan menghambat segala bentuk aktivitas bahkan produktivitas seseorang.   Nyeri merupakan persepsi rasa tidak nyaman yang sering dikaitkan dengan kerusakan jaringan, namun pada kenyataannya nyeri juga berkaitan dengan aspek psikologis/emosi seseorang, sehingga pendekatan yang komprehensif sangat dibutuhkan, yakni pendekatan yang ditujukan pada aspek fisiologis sekaligus aspek psikologisnya. Metode experimental dengan two group pre and post test design. Hasil uji normalitas dengan saphiro-wilk  diperoleh nilai p<005 sehingga data  berdistribusi tidak normal. Uji beda dengan Wilcoxon antara data sebelum dan sesudah perlakukan baik pada kelompok 1 dan kelompok 2 diperoleh nilai p<0.05 yang berarti kedua perlakuan sama-sama dapat menurunkan nyeri. Pada uji beda menggunakan Mann-whitney terhadap data sesudah perlakuan antara kelompok 1 dan kelompok 2 diperoleh  nilai p<0.05 yang berarti ada perbedaan yang bermakna antara nilai VAS sesudah perlakukan kelompok 1 dan kelompok 2.  Simpulan pemberian  Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) dan NeuroMuscular Taping (NMT) lebih baik dalam penurunan keluhan nyeri pasien nyeri punggung bawah dibandingkan dengan latihan stretching dan NMT.
