Abstract

The development of science and technology is increasing which influences the younger generation of Indonesia on their local culture. One of the cultural heritages in East Borneo comes from the Dayak ethnic. In this regard, the existence of culture needs to be maintained for the nation's successors and must be instilled from an early age, one of which is through education. This research aims to produce Local Wisdom of the Dayak Tribe-based Mathematics E-Module on Number Pattern material that is valid, practical, and effective. This research involved 60 students of VIII Grade of Public Junior High School 23 Balikpapan. As for the results of the study, the average validity reached a percentage of 88.85% in the Very Valid category, the practicality reached a percentage of 94.67% in the Very Practical category, and the effectiveness of student responses reached a percentage of 85.98% in the Very Effective category, the result outcome learning above the MCC reaches 90% in the Very Effective category, and the N-Gain score reaches 0.63 in the Medium category. Thus, it can be concluded that the development of a Local Wisdom of the Dayak Tribe-based Mathematics E-Module is feasible to implement.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning is the ability to direct and control oneself in thinking and acting and not feeling emotionally dependent on others. This study aims to determine the elements of online mathematics learning that cause students' self-regulated learning to strengthen and weaken. This type of research is a quantitative description with a population of all students of class VIII which is then selected by respondents as many as 67 students. The data was obtained through the distribution of questionnaires with google form. Based on the research conducted, it is known that the three elements of online mathematics learning that strengthen students' self-regulated learning are efforts to find learning resources, re-examine assignments before they are collected, and have targets to be achieved in the learning process. Meanwhile, the three elements of online mathematics learning that weaken students' self-regulated learning are group learning, help from friends when solving problems, and studying when there are exams.

Abstract

Math anxiety can be interpreted as feelings of discomfort, anxiety, fear, and lack of confidence when solving math problems. Cadets with high math anxiety have a lack of confidence and anxiety about mathematics lectures so that they feel like avoiding mathematics or immediately ending mathematics learning. This study aims to describe the results of math anxiety analysis in level 1 cadets. The approach used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method designed to explain the level of cadets' level 1 math anxiety which is reviewed from 4 indicators, namely somatic, cognitive, affective, and mathematical knowledge indicators. The subject of this research is level 1 cadets in 2023/2024 of the Surabaya Shipping Polytechnic. The instrument used was a math anxiety questionnaire which was analyzed using a likert scale to determine the average percentage of each indicator and the category of math anxiety based on the results of the analysis. Descriptively, it can be concluded that cadets' math anxiety has the highest number of high categories and the affective indicator occupies the highest percentage of other indicators. Abstract

This study aims to identify the relationship between mathematical connection ability (MCA) and mathematical problem-solving skills (MPSS) in cadets of the Ship Operation Engineering Technology Study Program at the Surabaya Maritime Polytechnic. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, 21 cadets were given two questions designed to measure MCA and MPSS, which were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Spearman rank correlation test. The results showed a significant positive correlation between MCA and MPSS, with a coefficient value of 0.901. This finding indicates that cadets with higher MCA tend to have better problem-solving skills. Additionally, cadets experienced difficulties with questions involving trigonometric concepts in a nautical context, such as the use of compass points and distance calculations. This study highlights the importance of strengthening MCA and MPSS in maritime vocational education to enhance cadets' technical and cognitive skills, particularly in solving complex operational problems in the maritime sector.
