Abstract

The existence of a gap between generations is an issue that needs special handling considering the importance of values transformation from the older generation to the younger generation so that healthy relationships between generations are established. The development of an intergenerational program for Elderly-adolescents is one of the interventions to improve the harmonization relationship between the elderly and adolescents. This study aimed to determine the effect of intergenerational programs in increasing the knowledge, attitudes, and social interactions of adolescents. The research design used a quasi-experimental control group design with 68 elderly people in North Bogor Sub-Districts and West Bogor Sub-Districts, Bogor City. Data analysis used T-Test, Chi-Square test, and Multiple Logistics Regression. Results of the study found that there were significant differences in the knowledge, attitudes, and social interactions of adolescents before and after implementing intergenerational programs in the intervention group, while in the control group there was no difference. There was no influence of adolescent characteristics on the knowledge, attitudes, and social interactions of adolescents. This intergenerational program was proven to be able to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and social interactions of adolescents, therefore it needs to be replicated in other places, considering that this model has not been developed in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is still a health problem that often occurs in the elderly. One of the factors that causes blood pressure to increase is anxiety. Anxiety can be reduced through the application of Guided imagery therapy. Guided imagery is a relaxation technique that relaxes the elderly and helps lower blood pressure. Method: The research used a case study method involving 3 elderly people. Application is carried out for 7 consecutive days with a duration of 15-20 minutes. Anxiety was measured using the HARS questionnaire. Results: The three elderly experienced a change in anxiety level with the result that 2 elderly people had a severe level of anxiety to a moderate level of anxiety and 1 elderly person went from a moderate level of anxiety to a mild level of anxiety. The three elderly also experienced changes in blood pressure with the results, The first elderly with previous blood pressure of 175/98 mmHg became 149/95 mmHg; The second elderly from previously 134/90 mmHg to 114/85 mmHg; and the 3rd elderly with previous blood pressure of 150/83 mmHg to 121/82 mmHg. Conclusion: Guided Imagery Therapy has an influence in reducing anxiety levels and blood pressure in hypertensive elderly.

Abstract

Family support is very influential in the success of hypertension care management through health education or information education about hypertension care, one of which is by using a pocket book containing information about hypertension care management for the elderly. The aim of the research was to determine the family's ability to manage hypertension in the elderly using a pocket book. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group design approach. of 70 families selected by purposive sampling. Data was collected using a pretest in the treatment group and control group to determine the basic values used to determine the influence of the independent variables. The treatment group was given intervention through the provision of pocket books; while the control group received a booklet about high blood pressure. The results of data collection were analyzed using univariate and bivariate using the t test. The results of this study found that after the intervention was implemented in the intervention group there were differences in knowledge, attitudes and skills between the intervention group and the control group. Researchers suggest using pocket books as a medium to increase the family's ability to manage hypertension in the elderly.

Abstract

The background of this study is the prevalence of the elderly aged 64-75 with hypertension in 2023 is 57.8 percent, and the number of elderly is estimated to reach 29 million of the total number of Indonesians in 2023. Hypertension can endanger the life of the elderly because it causes various serious health complications. Anxiety as one of the factors which aggravate hypertension in elderly, needs to be controlled so that complications do not occur. Deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation are non-pharmacological interventions that can be performed to reduce anxiety. The aim of this study was to find out whether the combination of deep breathing relaxation therapy and progressive muscle relaxation can reduce anxiety in elderly with hypertension. The design of this study is a quasi-experimental one group pretest-post-test design, because it measures the anxiety level of the elderly before and after therapy. The respondents consist of 30 elderly people in the Jatiwarna Village area, who were selected by random sampling method. Anxiety data was obtained using the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and dependent t-test analysis. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that 93.3 percent of the elderly had mild anxiety before the intervention and became 100 percent after the intervention. The results of the bivariate test using the dependent t-test showed a p-value: 0.00 at a sig. value of 0.05 which indicates the effect of giving both therapies on the reduction of anxiety levels in the elderly with hypertension.

Abstract

Introduction: Stress is identified as one of the modifiable risk factors for diabetes mellitus. High stress levels can trigger an increase in blood sugar levels. There are four approaches to controlling blood sugar levels: pharmacological therapy, nutritional therapy, physical activity, and education on self-management of diabetes, such as implementing autogenic relaxation therapy. Autogenic relaxation is a form of mind-body intervention that originates from within an individual, involving short phrases or sentences that promote a sense of tranquility. The aim of this research is to examine the influence of autogenic relaxation in reducing stress levels in clients with Type II diabetes mellitus. Methods: The research design employed is a quasi-experiment with a group control and pre-post-test. The intervention group received autogenic relaxation sessions lasting 15-20 minutes, six times with a one-day interval between sessions. The control group was observed without any intervention. Results: The results revealed a significant difference between the intervention and control groups for the variables of stress (p-value 0.000) and blood sugar (p-value 0.008). Conclusion: The analysis indicates that autogenic relaxation therapy can effectively reduce stress and blood sugar levels in Type II diabetes mellitus clients. We recommend that healthcare services implement autogenic relaxation therapy programs to assist clients with Type II diabetes mellitus in addressing stress-related issues and managing their blood sugar levels
