Abstract

Rice is a cereal crop that belongs to the graminae family of high economic value, and is the main food for more than a portion of the world's population. This study aims to determine the relationship genetic of rice in Kampar by RAPD marker. Eight genotypes of rice from district in Kampar were amplified using eight primers (OPA 5, OPB 7, OPC 19, OPD 2, OPD 3, OPD 8, OPD 11, and OPD 13). The analysis of molecular data was performed by using NTSys pc -2.02 and GenAlex 6.1 . The results of the amplification of rice produced 48 loci with DNA band sizes obtained ranging from 350-1700 bp. The average percentage of polymorphic loci of the eight primers was 49.80%, where the highest percentage of polymorphic loci produced by OPA-7 primer was 75%, while the lowest polymorphic locus percentage was observed in OPD-13 primer which was 14.28%. The value of genetic distance between rice from Kampar in this study is in the range of 0.06 - 0.37. At a genetic distance of 0.79, rice plants can be grouped into two groups, namely the first group consisting of sokan and coku. The second group consisted of suntiong, korean , cupak putio, kuniong, jangguik, and cupak tenggi. The results of this study are expected to be taken into consideration in developing rice breeding strategies in the future.

Abstract

Chili is an important horticultural plant in Indonesia. This research aims to carry out RAPD analysis on Mutant M2 of chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). Six M2 genotypes of chili irradiated by gamma ray and control plants were amplified by 16 random primers. The amplification results of M2 chili with 16 primers produced 118 loci, with fragment sizes ranging from 150-2000 bp. The number of polymorphic loci was 96 loci and the percentage of polymorphic loci was 83.23%. The DNA fragment polymorphism produced in this research was relatively high and it showed that the gamma ray mutagen applied produced high chili genetic diversity. The value of genetic similarity between control plants and mutant plants ranged from 0.7474 to 0.4874. UPGMA dendogram classified seven genotypes tested into three groups, the first group consisted of mutants R2U6 and R2U17, the second group was mutants R1U14 and R1U17, and the third group was mutants R2U8, mutants R2U2 and control plants. The finding of this research can be used as a basic selection of genetic material for chili’s breeding in the future.

Abstract

Christmas palm is a plant that has high economic value as an ornamental plant and is in great demand. Christmas palm seeds begin to germinate 3-4 weeks after planting, slow germination because of to seeds experiencing physical dormancy. To break dormancy can be done by scarification and immersion GA3. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of scarification and GA3 on the germination and growth of christmas palm seedlings and the interaction between the two treatments. This research was carried out from December 2017 to March 2018 on experimental Field and Agronomy Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science State Islamic University Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The method used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors and four replications. The first factor was the scarification (control and with scarification) and the second factor is immersion GA3 (0 ppm, 150 ppm, 300 ppm and 450 ppm). The results showed that scarification by means of sandpaper can increase the growth rate and height of the christmas palm plant.The dipping of GA3 with concentration of 450 ppm for 2 hours is the best concentration for growth speed. There was no interaction between scarification and GA3 immersion on all observational parameters both in germination and in the nursery of chritmas palm plants on the land.

Abstract

Pitcher plants (Nepenthes spp.) are an important economically as ornamental and medicine plants. They have a high degree of morphological variation and after ambiguis to distinguish among picher plants. The objective of research was to observe the genetic relationship among pitcher plant based on RAPD markers. Nine pitcher plants were analyzed using five RAPD primers. The result of this study showed that five RAPD primers selected were generated total 60 DNA fragments ranging from 150-1.450 bp. Genetic distance among pitcher plants ranged from 0.105 [N. trichocarpa (NXT) vs N. mirabilis (MIR)] to 0.545 [N. ampularia hijau (AHI) vs N. ampularia peristom merah (APM). Based on the dendogram of UPGMA, pitcher plants divided into four clusters. First cluster was formed six pitcher plants, e.g. Nepenthes ampularia corong (ACO), Nepenthes mirabilis (MIR), Nepenthes x trichocarpa (NXT), Nepenthes ampularia batik (ABA), Nepenthes grasilis merah (GME), Nepenthes grasilis hijau (GHI). Second, third, and fourth clusters having only one species, namely Nepenthes ampularia hijau (AHI), Nepenthes ampularia panjang batik (APB), Nepenthes ampularia peristum merah (APM), respectively. The result of this investigation will help breeders for pitcher plants improvement program in future.

Abstract

The problem of propagation of Punica granatum, was hard seed, and it difficult to germinate. One of the efforts to solve the problem is using H2SO4 as to breakdown of the hard seed. This study aimed to obtain the best concentration of H2SO4 and soaking time, as well as the interaction between H2SO4 concentration and soaking time on the germination of  Punica granatum seeds. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is H2SO4 concentration (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%), and the second factor is soaking time (10, 15, and 20 minutes). Parameters observed were germination, germination rate, vigor index, germination height, root length, weight of sprouts, and dry weight of Punica granatum sprouts. The results showed the use of water was the best treatment on germination (85.30%), germination rate (17.37 days), vigor index (2.24%), germination height (7.80 cm), and root length of Punica granatum (7.05 cm), soaking time did not effect the germination of Punica granatum, and the interaction between the use of water and the soaking time 15 minutes was the best treatment on the parameters of fresh weight of sprouts (0.17 g) and dry weight of Punica granatum sprouts (0.13 g).

Abstract

Spodoptera litura is one of the important plant pests that are polyphagic. Spodoptera litura attacks can cause damage to up 80% on plants causing losses for framer. Control using synthetic pesticides is excessive because it causes negative for environment. Efforts that can be made are using biopesticides such as Terminalia catappa L. leaves. This research aims to obtain effective concentrations in controlling Spodoptera litura in vitro. The research was carried out in Pathology, Entomology and Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and experimental farm of State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim from February to March 2019. This research used a Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments, consisting of control, 9% EDK, 18% EDK, 27% EDk and 36% EDK with 3 replications. The parameters used are larvae stop eating (%), speed of death, mortality, toxicity of LC50 and larvae become pupae (%). The result showed the effective concentration in controlling Spodoptera litura was EDK 18%.

Abstract

Karya tulis ilmiah memiliki peran strategis dalam upaya pengembangan profesi guru. Sebagaimana diketahui bahwa karya tulis ilmiah merupakan salah satu butir penting bagi guru dalam meraih kenaikan pangkat. Namun pada saat ini, masih banyak guru-guru yang belum mampu mempublikasikan karya ilmiahnya pada jurnal ilmiah. Hal ini bisa terjadi karena kurangnya pengetahuan guru tentang tata cara penerbitan yang saat ini dilakukan secara online dengan sitem Open Journal System (OJS). Oleh karena itu, Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat pelatihan publikasi artikel ilmiah dengan menggunakan sistem OJS untuk guru MGMP Kimia Kota Pekanbaru yang bertujuan  untuk meningkatkan profesionalitas guru melalui peningkatan publikasi artikel ilmiah. Metodologi pengabdian yang digunakan adalah metode participatory action research. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan teknik penyuluhan secara langsung (direct), yaitu tim PPkM mengadakan pertemuan dengan guru Kimia SMA yang tergabung dalam MGMP. Kegiatan PkM dilakukan dengan 3 tahapan yaitu, Tahap perencanaan, Tahap pelaksanaan dan tahap Evaluasi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan dalam bentuk Pelatihan Publikasi Artikel Ilmiah dengan Menggunakan Sistem OJS Untuk Guru MGMP Kimia SMA Pekanbaru telah berhasil  dilakukan dengan baik dan sesuai jadwa. Kegiatan pelatihan ini mampu memfasilitasi guru MGMP kimia SMA Pekanbaru untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dalam melakukan publikasi artikel ilmiah dengan menggunakan system OJS dan Kegiatan pelatihan ini mampu memotivasi guru untuk melakukan peningkatan publikasi karya ilmiah.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the causes of disease and disease symptoms using plantix software, and to determine the incidence of disease and disease resistance that infect cucumber plants in Kampar Regency. This study used a survey method with direct observation in 3 locations and the data obtained in the field were disease symptoms, the number of affected plants, the percentage and intensity of disease attack. Data analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of Plant Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. The results showed that (1) the results of identification carried out using Plantix software found that the pathogen that infects cucumber plants in Kampar Regency is Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) with symptoms of light green or yellow spots and veins clearly visible on young leaves, yellowing leaves, wrinkles, and changes in shape, plant growth is inhibited, the fruit has spots, stripes or a distorted shape (malformation). (2) The highest disease incidence was found in Kampar Subdistrict, 71.16% with disease intensity of 46.95%, followed by Mine Subdistrict with disease incidence of 55.45% and disease intensity of 34.07%, while disease incidence in North Kampar Subdistrict was 37.25% with disease intensity of 18.79%.
