Abstract

The need for soybean commodities is increasing in line with increasing changes in population and public awareness of the importance of food nutrition. One of the efforts to increase soybean production is to improve crop cultivation by selecting superior varieties. The purpose of this study was to obtain soybean varieties that had the best growth response and yields by adding dolomite to a saturated soil culture (SSC). This research was carried out from November 2020 to February 2021 in the experimental land of the Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu. The design used was a randomized completely block design (RCBD) factorial pattern consisting of two factors. The first factor was the dolomite dose which consisted of 4 levels, namely 0 x Al-dd, 0.5 x Al-dd, 1 x Al-dd, and 1.5 x Al-dd. The second factor was soybean varieties consisting of Gepak Kuning, Dering 1, and Derap 1 varieties. The results showed that Gepak Kuning produced the best growth response and yield by adding dolomite to SSC.

Abstract

Improvement of Ultisol soil chemical properties can be done by adding organic matter. In this study, vermicompost was used from various animal wastes (chickens, goats and cows), and the optimal growth parameters and nutrient uptake were observed. Research results showed The chicken manure vermicompost had the maximum available P, the goat manure vermicompost had the highest available K, and cow manure vermicompost had the highest total N value. In terms of pH, goat manure vermicompost had the highest pH and the chicken manure vermicompost had the most excellent C/N ratio. Analysis of variance (Anova) showed that the type and dosage of vermicompost had a significant effect on growth parameters (plant height, number of leaves and stem width) and nutrient uptake of N, P and K

Abstract

The development of preservation of the turtle ecotourism area at Tapak Paderi Beach by increasing the skill and innovative soft skills for out-of-school youth is the goal achieved in this community service. Through the Appreciative inquiry methods approach with the stages of team coordination, turtle counseling socialization and education, the introduction of basic welding techniques, making RUBAH and turtle aquascape. Overall results achieved are the implementation of socialization activities, training and guidance for school dropouts besides being realized in the implementation of basic techniques of small library welding (RUBAH), turtle aquascape making and encouraging youth to become tourist education guides for domestic and foreign tourists

Abstract

The low quality of Entisol is caused by low availability of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium as well as low soil pH, so the addition of vermicompost is necessary. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of vermicompost application on soil quality and to obtain the highest vermicompost dosage on the availability of nutrients such as N, P, K, and the yield of corn. The field experiment used a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with 7 dosages of vermicompost and three replications. The treatments were V0 = 0; V1 = 5; V2 = 10; V3 = 15; V4 = 20; V5 = 25; V6 = 30 Mg ha-1. Variables observed consisted of 1) initial soil and vermicompost characterization analysis, 2) soil analysis and N, P, and K content in leaves, and yield of corn. The results showed that Entisol was classified as low quality; however, vermicompost quality complied with the requirements of quality organic fertilizer. The experiment also indicated that the highest pH of Entisol (5.31) and K content in corn leaves (2.12%) were obtained at a dose of vermicompost 25 Mg ha-1. Meanwhile, the highest weight of husked corn cobs (415.55 g plant-1) and weight of unhusked corn cob (351.11 g plant-1) were obtained at a vermicompost dose of 15 Mg ha-1.

Abstract

Pengetahuan dan informasi petani mengenai kondisi kesuburan tanah lahan yang dibudidayakan sangat terbatas. Hal ini dikarenakan belum berkembangnya metode analisis tanah yang sederhana, murah, mudah, akurat dan efektif untuk dikembangkan. Melalui pogram kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat Mandiri tahun 2022, akan dikenalkan kepada masyarakat mengenai metode kualitatif selidik cepat kesuburan tanah kepada kelompok tani Desa Sumber Bening. Kegiatan pengabdian akan dilakukan melalui beberapa kegiatan, yaitu : 1)Pelatihan dan praktek metode kualitatif selidik cepat kesuburan tanah dan 2) Pelatihan dan praktek pemupukan berimbang. Tingkat keberhasilan kegiatan diperkirakan sekitar 80% melalui evaluasi kegiatan yang dilakukan dengan membandingkan beberapa parameter saat sebelum dan sesudah pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan untuk pengetahuan masyarakat tentang metode selidik cepat kesuburan tanah terjadi peningkatan antara sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan PPM terjadi peningkatan sebanyak 80%. Untuk kemudahan praktek selidik cepat kesuburan tanah untuk diaplikasikan terjadi peningkatan sebanyak 65% antara sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan PPM. Peningkatan  juga terjadi untuk minat petani dalam mencoba selidik cepat kesuburan tanah dan kepentingan pemupukan berimbang masing-masing sebesar 55% dan 25%.

Abstract

The great potential of Srikuncoro Village is from the agricultural and livestock sectors. The livestock sector, in addition to producing main products such as eggs, meat and milk, also produces by-products that have not been utilized properly. The product is livestock manure which if not managed properly will become livestock waste. One of the simple, easy, inexpensive and adaptive technologies is waste management through vermicomposting technology, which is a composting process carried out with the help of worms. The implementation of community service activities in Srikuncoro village is carried out through socialization and the practice of vermicomposting technology using Lumbricus rubellus worms. The activity was carried out from July to November 2021 and was attended by 20 members of the Lotus Farmer Group Association, Srikuncoro Village. This service activity resulted in several achievements, including: 1. Increased knowledge of the Srikuncoro village community (represented by members of the farmer group association) in livestock waste management through vermicomposting technology; 2. Increased knowledge about the cultivation of Lumbricus rubellus worms; 3. The emergence of public interest in making vermicomposting a side job (besides raising livestock) by building vermicomposting with the direction and guidance of a service team; and 4. The successful transfer of knowledge on vermicomposting technology from the service team to the community.

Abstract

Karang Taruna adalah lembaga sosial kemasyarakatan yang diatur dalam UU No. 11 Thun 2009 tentang Kesejahteraan Sosial dan berpartisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Anggota Karang Taruna merupakan pemuda-pemudi kader desa yang berpotensi besar untuk dibina dan didukung dalam pengembangan budidaya cacing dan pembuatan vermikompos di Desa Srikuncoro. Melalui program Pengabdian pada Masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh Tim Pengabdi dari Universitas Bengkulu pada bulan September hingga November tahun 2021 diperkenalkan kegiatan pembuatan vermikompos melalui sosailisasi dan praktek secara langsung. Vermikompos ini dibuat dengan bantuan cacing Lumbricus rubellus. Capaian kegiatan ini antara lain adalah : 1) Meningkatnya pengetahuan dan minat anggota Karang Taruna Desa Srikuncoro mengenai vermikompos, 2) Transfer Ilmu Pengetahuan dari hasil-hasil penelitian di Universitas Bengkulu dan 3) Menjadi perintis salahsatu model bisnis yang dapat dikembangkan oleh Karang Taruna Desa Srikuncoro.

Abstract

Kegiatan PPM IPTEKS ini mampu menjawab persoalan mitra yaitu : 1) Perumahan belum memiliki struktur kepengurusan yang terdaftar secara sah, 2) Belum ada kelompok-kelompok masyarakat yang terbentuk di masyarakat seperti kelompok pengajian, arisan dan lain sebagainya, 3) Dominasi ibu-ibu perumahan beraktivitas di rumah (ibu rumah tangga) yang memerlukan kegiatan tambahan yang bermanfaat dan dapat memenuhi kebutuhan keluarga, 4) Pemanfaatan lahan sempit perkotaan yang belum optimal dan 5) Persoalan pemenuhan kebutuhan pangan keluarga secara mandiri. Kegiatan PPM IPTEKS ini adalah sebagai batu loncatan pembentukan Kelompok Pengajian Al-Khoir. Kegiatan rutin dirancang 1 bulan sekali berupa pengajian, arisan dan adanya kajian-kajian yang bermanfaat untuk ibu-ibu perumahan. Diharapkan dengan adanya wadah ini kehidupan sosial bermasyarakat lebih tertata dengan baik karena rasa simpati, empati dan gotong royong terbangun. Kegiatan ini juga mendorong masyarakat mampu mengelola limbah rumah tangga dan memanfaatkan lahan pekarangan untuk menghasilkan kebutuhan pangan secara mandiri. Tiga kegiatan utama yaitu : 1) Pengelolaan limbah rumah tangga dengan metode Takakura, 2) budidaya ikan dalam ember dan 3) Pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan dengan teknologi urban farming diharapkan dapat mendorong terwujudnya keluarga dengan kebutuhan pangan yang stabil dan mandiri.

Abstract

Gersik Education is an activity to socialize the movement to clean yourself and the surrounding environment to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. This service activity was carried out at the Traditional Afternoon Market, Pematang Governor Village, Bengkulu City. The activity was carried out from May to August 2020. This activity involved 149 traders. This service activity consists of three main activities, namely: first, socialization about GERSIK (the movement to clean oneself and the environment) through speeches and using posters, second, the distribution of masks and hand sanitizers and the third to build public facilities in the form of hand washing stations. Based on the results of the implementation, periodic monitoring and evaluation of community service activities, it can be concluded that the community service activities specifically Covid-19 at the Governor's Evening Market, Bengkulu City are running effectively. This can be seen from the high enthusiasm of the community in participating in outreach activities carried out by the service team and the increasing level of awareness of traders to use masks and wash their hands.
